if you get a six core CPU either 10th gen / 11th / 5000
i would most expect gaming to limited by the wattage of the GPU not the CPU

In UK preorders are delayed until March now, trying to decide if I should keep my order for a Acer Nitro 17" 1660ti or upgrade for this for an extra £200.
The Gigabyte CPU temperatures seem to sit around 85 for an intensive session, up to 95 max. Would be interesting to see GPU temperatures for next video.

Are the fan noises too loud that they negatively affect video/audio calls? Or when I'm playing with an open mic at a normal voice threshold?
Didn't try video calls or anything
But I find the fan noise during gaming to be annoying and would annoy other people physical in the room
If you have a noise cancelling microphone you would be fine but no idea on a normal microphone
I suspect the inbuilt mic would be very poor
Hello, thx for the benchmark, i'm currently thinking about buying this laptop, i'm searching a ow price rtx laptop and this one keep showing everytime, but i already have a desktop computer with a gtx 1060 6gb vram (well the cpu is dead) so it's not worth because this one also have 6gb vram.... i'm a noob in hardware so what do you think ?
6gb 1060 vs a 6gb 3060 is a different beast
if you desktop has a dead cpu, i would just simply replace it and keep going

As mentioned in another comment i replyed to; i have seen it above 100w for about a minute during a benchmark

Hey I appreciate the video I'm just wondering the specs would be g5 say it has about a 99 watt hour battery but the g7 which is a 17 inch model says it only has about 49 watt hour battery so I'm confused there

The reason why you get less battery, is because of the extra m.2 slot that comes with the other model. It decreases the space for battery so you can have the ability to increase its storage. In my opinion, wait for the new line up of the Asus TUF computers. They will have an extremely better battery performance with a better cpu and the same specs and price. They only trade off is the refresh rate with it being 144hz and a 62.5 percent rgb panel instead of this one that has a 240hz panel with 73 percent rgb. It also has a num pad and camera.

@@zaxd61 Some good rtx3060 laptops are the Asus Tuf A15, i got an rtx 3050 version of it but they are rugged, pretty cheap compared to the other 3060s. It also comes with everything you need including a camera and a keypad. It’s a good buy
How's the battery life considering the small battery? Not just for gaming but just for everyday use?
simply web browsing and its giving me an estimate of 1 1/2hours (battery currently at 82%, screen + keyboard @ Max brightness)

the 3060 with a 144hz display is a good combo and saves on battery too, as most games wont crack a constant 200fps
The fans obviously are pretty loud. How localised is it, or would it drive someone nuts being in the same room?

I have had one on preorder for the past couple of weeks that I was hoping to use as a little secondary machine for some blender & design work (alongside the gaming ofc 😁) It would be mainly for evenings in the lounge but can see this being a problem. Might have to cancel and look at alternatives like a Surface. Shame but if I'm being asked to leave the room I may as well be on my main PC! 😄 Thanks again!
A surface is a different boat all together, i would look towards an Asus Vivobook Flip 14, i have a review on my channel and i still own it.

@@rickstechrepairs Many thanks yeah my bad with the Surface, I think I was losing track for a moment of what I actually need 😂 I actually have an cube i7 stylus (only i7 by name) that is actually quite a decent tablet for sketching (at least in Sketchbook Pro) and it include a wacom digitizer. I have a little bluetooth keyboard but for coding and the 3d work - thats why I started looking towards a gaming laptop. My guess is because some of the settings were on high so if they were to be something like medium settings or whatever that is underneath high settings, you'd probably see a little difference in performance I would think

There is one big problem with this laptop and its nvidia optimus. If you connect this laptop to external monitor via HDMI or USB-C DP u will get 20% more FPS if u use mini DP u will get same performance as on the laptop screen.

@@rickstechrepairs Yeah, mini DP is using optimus like a laptop´s LCD... This laptop is powerful.. but it is powerful only if u use it like desktop, i mean with external monitor via USB-C or HDMI. Btw i tested GTA V and on same setting im getting about 80FPS on laptop screen and about 105 fps with an external monitor, AC valhalla 50 FPS with internal and 72 cca with external. So the optimus is one big mistake, it should be a best gaming laptop for price, because it has a lot of connectors and lot of slots for disk´s... but..

@@Manerick Yeah im sure, im owner of this laptop about 2 years. So if you want bypass optimus, you have to use HDMI or USB-C to DP adapter. Btw if i plug HDMI in, ill lost wifi. Idk why, so im just using USB-C to HDMI or DP.

Nvidia Optimus is really killing performance... Is there a way to disable it on this laptop? (so the intel graphics is disabled and the nvidia outputs directly to the display)? Most laptops can't do this unfortunately as in some of these games you are getting 50% of the performance just because it's having to go through the intel graphics...
I have the same problem on my current 1060 laptop. If I plug in HDMI/Displayport and disable the main monitor, the second monitor I plugged in is directly going to the nvidia graphics, and I get much better performance in some games. For example Nvidia Optimus is limiting GTA V significantly, only getting around 100 fps... I bet if you plugged in an external monitor and disabled the main montitor, you'd get double... (I recommend locking the FPS to 160 in GTA V as anything higher causes stuttering in that game)
i agree with everything you are saying here, funny enough i only have a 60hz 24" monitor at home so the integrated 15.6" panel is a fair it better to look at
@@rickstechrepairs I've done some more research and the Asus tuf A15 is the same price as this laptop, and seems to be better in every way. it has double the battery capacity, better cooling and temperatures, the only specs that are lower are the display (144hz but that doesn't matter if you can't get much above that anyway) and 8gb ram. but the ram is the first thing I'd upgrade since its only in dual channel and 8gb isn't enough for a gaming pc anymore. so I'm thinking of getting that laptop instead. I'll wait for a review of that specific model though before I make any decisions, but there are plenty of reviews of the older one with the 2060 and smaller battery. and it seems like an overall better laptop.
BTW, even with the 60hz monitor you can still test it, it would be interesting to see how much nvidia optimus is handicapping the 3060 on this laptop in some of these games.

To me the fans don't seem as bad as everyone is saying. plus you didn't have any game sound on.... I have a 2019 Predator helios 300 that makes more sound then this... if its doing a good job cooling..than its no problem.... and don't make me talk about turbo mode on the helios..lol..sounds like a jet engine.... best thing to do is undervolt!... very little perfomance loss..and AMAZING temps.... you'll pretty much gain performance in long gaming sessions....
PS .. where Headphones ... like that..no more Fan noise...lol

Judging from the Rainbow benchmark the CPU has little trouble achieving a 200+ average.
I'm not sure about Apex, but I suspect that a locked 240fps is possible.

Does anyone know how to adjust the fan curve under 35% in the gigabyte fan speed setting, the fans are always running with at least 2000rpm, it has to be possible to configure that setting i an ini file or something, i would be really thankful, if someone with more knowledge then me has a solution for the problem. Other Software like Fanspeed or Argus doesnt work on the Notebook.

not bad, its the CPU which looks to throttle the most
@@rickstechrepairs Got myself the G7 yesterday; you can definitely use ThrottleStop and tweak some settings. It comes equiped with an app called "Control Center" or "Gaming Center" which has different profiles for Power/Performance and Fan Speeds. The standard profiles all have different settings with regards to BD prochot and (I believe) max boost speeds. So if you tweak the Fan curve in combination with the speedshift, you will get a pretty quiet laptop with a lot of performance. Nice reviews, keep it up!
As a small addendum to the above: Because the Gigabytes standard software "Control Center" will overwrite the Throttlestop information on startup, I found one can overcome that when you delay the startup of Throttlestop by a minute in the Task Schedulder...I changed to max frequency to 4Ghz on mine (more than enough, leaving headroom for later) and upped the TDP limit to 70 watts so it will only be limited by temps. (90 for Quiet, 92 for Entertainment and 98 for Performance)
The GPU is 115 watts, not 85?
Certainly seems to be a burst of 115w but throttles down extremely quickly to 80watt

Better than what you are seeing, look up perforamance boost with external monitor on gaming laptop. It's something to do with optimus, you will see a good increase in fps with an external monitor or by disabling optimus.

If the TUF A15 is cheaper i would lean towards it (even without seeing the rest of the specs) unless the GPU is a 60watt Version

Room temp was around 15-20 celsius

200fps on csgo? Really you save my life, it sucks... More than $1000 for only 200fps on csgo? This 3060 laptop is heavily cropped...my desktop rx5500xt gives the double of fps... In laptop the name "rtx3060" is only MARKETING... I was thinking of taking advantage of the current market to sell my pc and buy a laptop like that ... But how the hell is a 3060 going to give only 200fps in that game?or maybe this intel cpu is the bottleneck, but definitely only 200fps in csgo sucks
All laptops GPUs are heavily crippled, this isn't a shock, it's been like that since the dawn of laptops
A desktop GPU has alot higher wattage and cooling.
I would expect a desktop RX580 to outperform a laptop 3060 in most cases
