That stuff on the VRAM and VRM is Thermal Putty. Those gaps look quite narrow (maybe less than 0.5mm), so in this case I recommend Halnziye HY236 as a viable replacement putty. HY236 performs just slightly better than Gelid GP Extre.e pads, but it can squish down thinner than 0.1mm (grwat for shims and also laptops woth thin gaps).
A higher performing putty can be used with gaps 0.5mm and larger.

I bought one in 2021 as well, but I'm not a professional in computers and have no tools necessary to clean my computer. Am I better off buying the tools and attempting to repaste/clean or just go to a professional?

What is that stuff you put on old therma paste to „melt” is down before cleaning? Can I use isopropyl alcohol? Is Noctua NT-H1 good for this laptop?

i think the previous user swapped the thermal pads to a crazy amount of Thicker thermal paste

@@rickstechrepairs Seems like MSI ge76 uses thermal putty instead of thermal pads as factory standard, which goes around everywhere as shown in the video

Oops redid my thermal paste. I thought I was all old dry thermal paste so I removed it and put paste on all of those parts 😂
