Quentin Griffin is one of my faorite players of all time. Never a negative celebration, always handing the ball back to the officials, helping opponents off the ground, heck he even turned down the opportunity to get into the record books at OU. He's a role model for all young athletes.
Q will never be forgotten at OU. He is a great guy who was happy to just do his job and go home. It wasn't about recognition, celebration, or points. It was all about pride.
Mike Price broke all of Washington State's heart that year after he left. We had something good going and then he leaves it all behind, only to be fired at Alabama for being caught with a stripper. That was a heartbreaking yr for me as a cougar.
Man, I don't know how Sooner fans feel about Hyble, but I thought he was a pretty good QB. He made plays and was pretty accurate. And he won OU a Rose Bowl. You can't ask for much better. And Q was just a beast. Geart game.
Landry sucked - I hated watching OU football when he was the QB. Such a beating with his garbage throws. Much better now with watching Baker the last 3 years now Kyler
I grew up right down the road from Hybl and played for his Highschool rival team so I played against him every year in high school and the weird thing is that he barely ever passed the ball in highschool...his team pretty much was a run heavy team but evidently his potential was noticed.
if my guess is correct, the change was made in 2004. When USC won it after the 2003 season, they trophy they received was similar to the one in this clip. The one Texas got after beating Michigan looked a whole different than this one.
@jsfranklinwsu yes he did, and I have no idea why. I still don't know why. Why couldn't he have announced that AFTER the game? I'm not taking anything away from OU, they were great that year too, but I expected WSU to play better
Washington State did beat USC earlier in the season, but the way the Trojans were playing at the end of that season, no one would have beaten them, no one. We have an expression about Washington State in the Pac 12. We say, "Washington State 'couged it' again." The Cougars are notorious for losing big games like this. I'm sure you guys enjoyed your visit to Southern California in the middle of Winter. It's a bit more expensive these days.
at the time that you were writing this, OU beat Texas to start a string of THREE STRAIGHT VICTORIES. OU won the Big 12 that year, and your beloved shorthorns didn't even qualify for a bowl, coz they lost to Iowa State and Baylor. How do you like them apples.
yeah its fucking bullshit how wsu coaches once they get a long good coach he leaves. dickerson did it and price did too. leach is gonna stay tho he is loyal
Shout out to mike 23151 haha texas forever were getting a new coach and bringing texas back yessir and gonna stomp ou like we did in 2013 @nd may alabama pummel yall like we roll tide lmao
Over the last 15 years since that game was played, what is Oklahoma known more for? Losing to Boise State in the Orange Bowl, losing to USC 56-17 in the Rose Bowl, or just losing bowl games period? Just curious.
Uh, Washington State beat USC this year, and OU made Wazzu look like a middle school team......logic ? Even if they did, it wouldn't count... USC, ya know, the best **college team money can buy...duh LMAO
I wish we had this kind of defense the last a few years.

Not to mention when he inadvertently 'pummeled to the ground' his own 300 lb offensive lineman on a another great run.
Mine too. Selfless
My family and I were there. 2001, I was a sophomore in high school. Oklahoma in the Rose bowl parade. Its a memory I'll always cherish.
Wow. I remember this game. Senior year in HS. We were dominant!!
Antonio Perkins the forgotten Sooner great!
Forgotten? Not by me he isnt, best punt returner I've ever seen. I was there when he returned 3 to the house against ucla.
He doesn't not mentioned amongst the greats as much as he should.
Q will never be forgotten at OU. He is a great guy who was happy to just do his job and go home. It wasn't about recognition, celebration, or points. It was all about pride.
@alexhp91 Yeah I'll agree with you there. For being a backup quarterback, he did a fantastic job of stepping into the starting position.
Why does it feel like I'm watching a game from the 80's? This broadcast feels...Retro
R.I.P Brandon Everage.

Agree. Enjoyed watching him.
Jonathan Jackson had an MVP type game on defense that day.
Washington State #7? Wow this is a long time ago...
2002 Oklahoma- can't help but wonder what if Jason White hadn't gotten hurt (with all due respect to Hybl)
Hybl was, quietly, the 4th best QB under stoops. And that includes Landy "Why the Hell is he throwing those kind of picks in his senior year" Jones.
Landry sucked - I hated watching OU football when he was the QB. Such a beating with his garbage throws. Much better now with watching Baker the last 3 years now Kyler

Landry had that one sugar bowl game where he was on fire but that was about it lol
❤ Boomer Sooner! ❤
this was class A ass kicking
watched this game in S. Korea. the delay was insane.

Leach is a winner. He brought a new wrinkle to the Big XII, and will do the same at WSU.
Damn, this sounds like it's from the 60's and looks like it's from the 80's.
Gutslinger ikr
Kieth Jackson was having a cow over OU being in the Rose Bowl. He even said go Cougars to start the game off
Took my USC buddy to this..he was happy for me but embarrassed for P12
@dhide14 Didn't Price quit BEFORE the game to go to Alabama? That's kind of messed up to do that before your team plays for a Rose Bowl.
when did they change the rose bowl trophy i love how it looks now
Oh the defense we need back...
@KBoe4 Cougars were solid once, and eventually they'll be solid again. They had a rough couple of years, but next year I think they'll be competitive.
How's that working out
This is what ou is all about .
@jsfranklinwsu yes he did, and I have no idea why. I still don't know why. Why couldn't he have announced that AFTER the game? I'm not taking anything away from OU, they were great that year too, but I expected WSU to play better
Hopefully we win bcs this season
After a short on Cleveland and Jacksonville's rosters, Hybl's probably somewhere in Georgia playing golf.
@mike23151 why did you watch this anyways?
They wore the Cougars out!!!
ok thanks
@mike23151 Yyyyeeeeaaah how'd that last national championship go for ya? Last time I checked, OU won their bowl game, Texas didn't. Hook that.
Wow! sponsored by Playstation 2... I feel old

@jdhaist13 not as long as your last bowl game before last year haha
i thought i was the onlt one the pick up on this pattern hahaha Leach will be great once he gets his recruits, and not wulffs scrubs
I knew the WSU offense would struggle with Gesser playing on a broken leg...but damn, where was the fucking defense??
Is Washington State really that bad? They stunk in this game with a great record

slofever512 hahaha 0-2 on that one. Texas is lower than ever. Herman won't help OU's crackhead brother from the south.
Couldn't beat BYU, that's sad
Damn cougers have our number
Wow forgot WSU use too be good at one time wonder what happened too them? oh wait they played us and became irrelevant

@@sethelsom3838 29-20 yeah they love losing get a life

Washington State in the Rose Bowl? Awkward...
usc would have smashed the sooners
No they wouldn't have
USC got beat by Kansas State.
Dumbass
