“The Elephants of Mars” - Giant, sentient elephants roaming a newly terraformed Mars join forces with the human, electric guitar playing leader of the Mars Resistance to keep Mars a beautiful, free planet. The music got its start with that sci-fi premise, but now ZZ has taken the original story to a whole new and wonderfully insane dimension by making it an old school video game where you must "Free the Elephants!" - Joe

I am 55 years old and just now finding Joe Satriani, what an absolutely wonderful find! So tired of loud, rude, nasty songs that get stuck in my head, so happy to find some great music that I can totally relate to. Usually Pink Floyd and Carlos Santa are my go to and now I have a whole new artist to enjoy.

Back in the 60's and 70's an urban myth was that taking LSD would make you see pink elephants. And then there's the fractals and over enhanced colors in this video. Satch is still killin it.

When I first heard this, the middle part in conjunction with music prior to that;
I visualized a probe diving into mars atmosphere, and when it breaks through the clouds there you see the awe of giant elephants marching...in what almost seems like slow motion. that's what I visualized , then after that when the music gets fast again ,your POV races through the long vast line of elephants marching.

I've seen Joe well over 30 times over the years through many tours and Nothing can compare to the tour when he was playing ( Made of tears) just like it was on Satriani live.At 4:40 he went to another world. Only his heart,soul,hands and guitar were left on stage.That was the greatest guitar playing I have ever witnessed bar none. And I'm old enough to have seen Clapton,Page,Vaughn,Waters,Howe,Lifeson,Eddie,Knopfler,Shepherd,and many more and can honestly say none of them I have ever seen had brought me to a place where that song did that night. The stars aligned to make everything perfect,the drums,the bass,the rhythm and Joe....
