Happy new year friends! Starting of the new year with a new art vlog for you~ I actually filmed this while waiting for the new year so basically, this art video started and was finished in two different years hahaha! For today's art vlog, we painted some cafe food and desserts. I did my best to share with you some tips and how I mix my most used colors when painting :D
Cafe hopping is something I'm really looking forward to trying in the new year, I can't wait to discover new food and try out new warm drinks during the incoming cold season of this year. Maybe see you on possible of cafe vlogs soon hahaha!

I love watching these types of videos, I usually don't do many artistic things due to time constraints or laziness, but whenever I see things like this they inspire me to bring out my creative side. Sometimes I would like to paint with watercolors, but I'm not very expert in that, so I better draw with colors or make a scrapbook. Btw, very beautiful art! 💞

It depends. If you want to practice cheap watercolors are just fine. However, there are inexpensive watercolors that turn chalky when it dries. Depending on your preference, this could be a good thing (if you use color pencils when you use watercolors it can blend seamlessly) or a bad thing (it smudges). Some inexpensive watercolors have suspension which makes a grainy wash. (again this could be a good or bad thing depending on your preference & style). Another factor of inexpensive watercolors is that with time it fades and turn grayish in tone. You can look up reviews on some brands that fit into this category that fit your preferences and style.
There are middle grade watercolors (in between expensive and cheap, what most art students use tbh) where it doesn't become chalky when it dries and the color stays vibrant for longer. It's also creamier in texture therefore it's easier to pick up pigment. Then there's artist grade (often the most expensive) where the factor that stands above all of them is longevity of the piece before it fades, called light fastness.
At the end of the day, alot of artists actually recommend investing in good quality paper that can withstand layering or cheap but good watercolor paper when practicing watercolors instead of upgrading to more expensive watercolors.

❤I love your videos, you are an Amazing artist. You make it look so easy. I've been pretty frustrated with learning how to watercolor so I haven't been doing it at all really. I've made a few small things but nothing like yours. I've learned something from watching you. Its all about layers and layering. Then adding the shadows & the highlights, plus any tiny details.
