I know this was posted a year ago, but I'm actually all about this. Childhood is a state of mind, not just a space in time. We're very fortunate that we have videos as records of our time being a child to remind us how we can approach life even as an adult.
Femineity RUclips did have a channel that like zoom for adults. But after I said brook left she the one who does the do’s (art projects) thankfully no science projects thank god adults don’t care science who cares?
This is pure memories! I remember waiting for this show to come on as a little kid I loved watching this and all their cool crafts and games to play 😭 now a days we don’t even see this or kids wanting to go out and play 😒 they should bring this show back 😇
HI everyone. I am 56 (ya 56) and I also got to watch the original series in the 70s and I like both versions. I got ZOOM Back to the 70's" on DVD and was going back to when I watched it first hand. You know Caroline (HI CAROLINE) was on more seasons than any ZOOMER in the original and the later version. I felt like I am prehistoric when the kids in the later version say mention that your parents probably watched the original shows. I always laughed at that since I personally watched both versions. :D I know a lot older people dont like revealing their age but with me I am 56 and sometimes I like watching shows like ZOOM which is geared toward kids and teens which I was during the original shows. OK That's all folks. Bye for now.
Hi Clover. Looks like I am the oldest one that posted in this group of comments. If you read my earlier post I am 56 (which makes me old enough to be your father) and I enjoyed both versions of Zoom. I also got the DVD "Zoom:The best of the 70's and I remember some of the skits they had showed. :D If that makes you feel older then I must be prehistoric and had a dinosaur as a pet. :D Enjoy your day.
I loved this show when it was on the air it was fun, educational, and I memorized one of Boston's zip codes. One thing I didn't like was that they kept changing the cast every season.
The same reason that they don't air Saturday morning cartoons anymore.....some people just don't believe that kids should be allowed to be kids anymore. It's really sad...
My favorite Zoomers on the show were Aline, Estuardo, Garrett, Caroline, Kenny, Kaleigh, Lynese, Matt, Rachel, Eric, Jared, Keiko, Pablo, Jessie, Claudio, David and Zoe. I also liked Alisa too.
Here's my conclusion after watching many season 1 videos: Jared: A goofball. Very charismatic. Silly. Keiko: Always was giggling and laughing. Always happy and smiling. She seemed to act natural and most like herself. Lynese: A great attitude. Funny. Acted well. A good leader. Zoe: Smart. Good stage presence. Confident. Competitive and didn't like losing. David: Little and fun. Always was the first to be out in a game. But he was never a sore loser. Alisa: Very kind. Smart. Competitive. Spoke very soft. Pablo: super chill. worked well with all of them. Listened to others well. Seemed like he and Jared were good friends.
Since Jared turned 13 in August of 98 I wonder if he had his bar mitzvah while he was filming this? He might have put it on hold cause he was so busy or maybe he studied between takes.
It's funny that Alisa's letter is about thanksgiving, since I think I first saw this episode when it aired the day before thanksgiving in 1999. What's more, I likely went to my aunt's house for it that year!
Well this was a nice trip down memory lane. Dat VHS tho. I remember watching this with my cousins (who were older) and trying to figure out the riddles like Fanny-something. Good times :)
I don't remember Pablo saying it but for some reason I feel like I've heard Alisa saying it. I had the WGBH logo for 114 but I can't remember who said it. :(
Wow thank you so much for these Zoom episodes. When I came home from school I grabbed a snack and turned on PBS to watch Zoom everyday Monday through Friday. But now thanks to you I can watch Zoom everyday 7 days a week. Man I wish we can go back to the good old days. Subbed Zoomfan1 👍🤗❤
Was prepping for a podcast on favorite TV themes when I went down this rabbit hole and ended up here, best rabbit hole Ive gone down in a while. RIP Jared. These are the Zoomers I grew up with. CPTV!!!! My local PBS affiliate was WGBY.
That cake looks soooooo yummy. I don't care that it's kiddie, this is one of my all-time favorite cafes. Thank you sooooooo much for preserving it for us!
24:01 - Jared Nathan was the most versatile OG Zoomer out there!!! He can do anything even a great voiceover announcer. Still chokes me that he's no longer with us and his life was taken too soon. He would have SKYROCKETING to global stardom winning being an EGOT winner!!! RIP.
I remember watching this when I was a kid everyday after I school I look at this sure does bring back memories I miss this show R.I.P. to Jared. I had the biggest crush on Keiko she was so cute I wish they would put this on Netflix.
The ZOOMers characteristics in season 1 Zoe: Sarcastic, wants things her way Jared: Charming, hilarious, good at everything Keiko: Smart, kind of shy Pablo: Goofy, energetic Alisa: Outgoing, spunky David: Annoying, tag along Lynese: Sassy, witty
I think this episode was last aired on my KCTS station in July 2000. So even if I'd started taping episodes right when season 2 returned in June 2000 there's still no guarantee I'd have gotten it taped.
I forgot how awesome this show was. This series was very unique for its time, and It's a shame how most educational shows are now animated. I even forgot ZOOM had it's own language.
During several of the early Cafe ZOOMs (and the last one of this season) there's no fridge or oven in the kitchen. All of the ZOOMers except Jared and maybe Lynese had a Cafe ZOOM like this.
Interesting. I prefer the other seasons beginning with two ZOOMers holding the zoom sign (Used except in 1 and 3). I also thought the signs looked smaller this season. I do like the music used between nsf & "and" only used in s1 though.
ZOOMfan1 Cool. I didn't realize some music wasn't used in other seasons. I think 2 is obviously second best, like 3 because of it's' similarities to this season but don't like how they shortened it, don't like 4 as much (they shortened it too), think 5 is good, don't like 6, and really hate 7 (it's too cartoony and cheesy!)
A great song about hope. See if you can guess what show sang this song. At times I lose the spark Living in the dark How I wish my song could be a sign Sing it like a bird Sunlight in my words Learn to sing the golden sun to shine Shine on, shine on me Shine on, shine on me Times I'm in the night Can't locate the light How I wish I knew the right design Music in the air Making brightness there Learn to sing the golden sun to shine (I sing) Shine on, shine on me Shine on, shine on me Shine on, shine on me Shine on, shine on me Shine on, shine on me (Shine down so we can see) Shine on, shine on me Shine on, shine on me (Till the glory comes to be) Shine on, shine on me

Man this show saved me so many rainy days because we didnt have cable growing up lol Thank you ZOOM so many memories!
Memories. Sweet memories. This show is childhood.
Seasons 1 and 2 definitely. Season 3 is good also even if it isn't "classic" ZOOM. Season 4 and 5 were ok but not my favorites.
+FamilyGuyFanSince2008 I agree.
And 6 and 7 still have their moments. I love every season.
They really need to bring this show back. It was a simple show that showed kids have fun and using they're imagination full of educational value.
Femineity RUclips did have a channel that like zoom for adults. But after I said brook left she the one who does the do’s (art projects) thankfully no science projects thank god adults don’t care science who cares?

So retro, Don't mind me just taking a trip down memory lane, more kids need stuff like this nowadays.
I don't think I'll ever forget that 02134 is the zip code for Boston, Mass.
Also, I hope Robbie got his hot air balloon license.

R.I.P., Jared Nathan.
:'(
Oh nooo! Awe rip, he was my favorite 😢
Ricky M I know :(
He was the love of my life I was 3 2/3 close to getting his D but aw man
what happened to him
"I was very nervous to ride the porcupine..." I would be too, Alisa. 😃
Showing these to my future kids, every day after school, with a snack of peanut butter crackers and apple juice, just like I did. 💜
I loved this show when it was on the air it was fun, educational, and I memorized one of Boston's zip codes. One thing I didn't like was that they kept changing the cast every season.
You get used to it though.
I know but it was still sad how some ZOOMers were just taken off when they had more greatness ahead. Jared really deserved another season.
***** He really did.
I agree.
David Sukenick Ray as well. I would have prefered him to Buzz in season 3.
4:34 "I'm not the best doodler in the world but........ hey." Riveting stuff there David....
At least he's honest.
He could've been more clever about it.
I cant draw for the life of me.
I miss this show😢. This was my favorite show growing up as a child. I wonder why they stop airing this show?
The same reason that they don't air Saturday morning cartoons anymore.....some people just don't believe that kids should be allowed to be kids anymore.
It's really sad...
Another reason are the interest in other shows that come on the air and the kids for each generation.
I remember this show. This got me interested as a kid. They act like kids, and not try to act like grown ups.
I feel this show is for everyone. I didn't watch it much as a kid. But I love it now.
Indeed. I didn't see Peep and the Big Wide World (another WGBY show) until I was almost 13 and still love it.
37 people don't know what a good show is.
Still 35!
I used to watch this so much :) Lol I had a crush on all of the guys
That was a mad accurate fish david.
Connecticut Public Television. grew up with that logo, and had WGBH channel 2. ☺
I first started watching Zoom during the first season. I stopped watching the show after the fifth season..... This show was amazing........
My favorite Zoomers on the show were Aline, Estuardo, Garrett, Caroline, Kenny, Kaleigh, Lynese, Matt, Rachel, Eric, Jared, Keiko, Pablo, Jessie, Claudio, David and Zoe. I also liked Alisa too.
2016 Marked 10 years ago in 2006 since the death of Jared Nathan of Zoom, he was 21, when he got into in a car accident.
Tomorrow marks 20 years since this episode debuted!!!!
Hopefully the rest of season 1 will come soon.
happy 20th birthday Zoom 2nd series!
Loved this SHOW!! ALWAYS DID LYNESE'S INTRO DANCE
Happy 20th anniversary ZOOM
Here's my conclusion after watching many season 1 videos:
Jared: A goofball. Very charismatic. Silly.
Keiko: Always was giggling and laughing. Always happy and smiling. She seemed to act natural and most like herself.
Lynese: A great attitude. Funny. Acted well. A good leader.
Zoe: Smart. Good stage presence. Confident. Competitive and didn't like losing.
David: Little and fun. Always was the first to be out in a game. But he was never a sore loser.
Alisa: Very kind. Smart. Competitive. Spoke very soft.
Pablo: super chill. worked well with all of them. Listened to others well. Seemed like he and Jared were good friends.
therealmaximan Zoe was not a sore loser. But everyone is sometimes. And Jared is a saint.
Adam Sukenick yeah. She's just super competitive
therealmaximan Not really. But everyone is sometimes. Either way she's awesome and I hate that people say horrible stuff about her.
Adam Sukenick Yes. I agree! People are way too mean about her and it's not nice.
therealmaximan That's why David should've stayed in season 2 instead of Claudio. I'm sure David would've made improvements.
Since Jared turned 13 in August of 98 I wonder if he had his bar mitzvah while he was filming this? He might have put it on hold cause he was so busy or maybe he studied between takes.
Oh wow I never even thought of that!
***** Yeah for me we waited until the summer so my whole family could be there. Hard to believe that was over 10 years ago.
David Sukenick Oh cool, you had one? That's awesome!
Hopefully he didn't, but if he did miss an ep I would understand since he was probably so busy.
I remember this show me & my sister use to watch on channel 13 at 3:00 p.m
aw man im 25 and i remember watching this with my grandpa back in 99-02
I'm 31 and wish I can go back in time just to watch zoom and other 90's shows I grown up with cause now the shows it not the same
I love this show thanks for every episode
Wow, I remember doing the Zoom Do fish-in-a-bowl drawing activity as a kid. I feel so old watching this...
Was it in this episode?
FamilyGuyFanSince2008 Yes, it was. It was the cartoon thing that David made.
OK. In some early airings that came later in the episode and the Harmoyms zinger came right after the feather blowing game.
FamilyGuyFanSince2008 Oh, okay. That's interesting. I never knew that.

I like Shing and Mike a lot though. I just don't like this one.
The first episode that wasn't rerun after you started taping (aside from The Making of ZOOM).
Thank you for posting this!
That bunny cake looks really good.
It sure does. Even if it's for kids I would still gladly have a piece if someone offered me some.

During the Zoomsci segment I saw Zoe on the top of the stairs. I thought "Hey Zo! How's the weather up there?"
I wish the sound came out of both of my earphones, but hey beggars can't be choosers, so I'll take it. Thanks for uploading
+Kari2025 Sorry. You can try putting the headphones halfway in the computer. It usually plays in both sides then.
I'm back on here to re-watch and it works in both headphones! Again, thanks for uploading. This show was such a huge part of my childhood.
The ZOOMers characteristics in season 1
Zoe: Sarcastic, wants things her way
Jared: Charming, hilarious, good at everything
Keiko: Smart, kind of shy
Pablo: Goofy, energetic
Alisa: Outgoing, spunky
David: Annoying, tag along
Lynese: Sassy, witty
All the zoomers had attitude sometimes. Not just Zoe. She's a very sweet girl and always been a favorite of mine.
I said she wanted things her way. Not bad attitude.
@@toyaliens But everyone does sometimes. She got along with everyone and everyone liked her which is the most important.

i remember watching this show after i got my homework done. it was on cable tv, the one cool show i could watch. we only got five channels. lol
i was like 5, or 6 watching this
Kids these days NEED shows like this!!!!!!!
18:40 That creaking noise is so creepy. I can see why they changed it in season 2.
I love the music during the sci. They should have used that in at least one other sci or phenom.
I forgot how awesome this show was. This series was very unique for its time, and It's a shame how most educational shows are now animated. I even forgot ZOOM had it's own language.
who's the asshole that didn't like zoom?😒😒😒😭😭😭 lol

Probably a middle schooler who didn't get to appreciate this magic when they were younger.

The full version of Party with Zoom is now up.
Awesome!
In 1999 Zoom when they say ''viewers like you'' there's no ''thank you.''
+Koypodracer I know. I liked it better that way. These funding credits were, like the season itself, the best.

happy 26 years for Zoom
Happy 26th Anniversary to this episode, the very first episode of ZOOM, 90s edition! 🧡💛🧡💛
Jared introduces the first game of the series! :)
Best sci in your season 1 eps.
BirdOfPrey12 I still love the one in 6 a lot cause I really like Mike, Kyle, and Shing and it was longer but of course this is great too.
It's one of my all-time favorites along with 210, 220, 320, 339, the newspaper tower Jared and Pablo made, and the windmills.
BirdOfPrey12 I love so much from every season. Not much from season 7 but I still like the cafe in 711 and the Zoom do in 720.
That cake looks good but Keiko looks even better. :)
A great song about hope. See if you can guess what show sang this song.
At times I lose the spark
Living in the dark
How I wish my song could be a sign
Sing it like a bird
Sunlight in my words
Learn to sing the golden sun to shine
Shine on, shine on me
Shine on, shine on me
Times I'm in the night
Can't locate the light
How I wish I knew the right design
Music in the air
Making brightness there
Learn to sing the golden sun to shine
(I sing)
Shine on, shine on me
Shine on, shine on me
Shine on, shine on me
Shine on, shine on me
Shine on, shine on me
(Shine down so we can see)
Shine on, shine on me
Shine on, shine on me
(Till the glory comes to be)
Shine on, shine on me
