How to Tie the Swing Hitch - The Perfect Knot for Hanging a Swing

- If you are looking for the right knot to hang a swing, then the ideal knot for that is the Swing Hitch. The advantage of using the Swing Hitch is that once it is pulled up tight and dressed smartly, it grips firmly and prevents the rope from chaffing as the swing is used.
Ashley's Book of Knots: "465. To make fast a swing: The accompanying hitch is recommended, as it stays in place and does not chafe against the crossbar or limb." It then goes on to say: "466. A better method is to splice the ends of rope to snap hooks or sister hooks. These can be easily unhooked from the eye bolts and stored in winter. With this treatment ropes may be made to last several seasons."

Do you need this knot?
@@KnottingKnots nothing springs to mind, but that does not make it less interesting to learn.
Congrats on 100k! Do a face reveal!
I am too ugleeeeeeeeee mate 😉 😉 😉
Definitely needs a stopper knot...
I would say that once pulled up tight and dressed smartly, this will not shift.
@@KnottingKnots I don't know... I have some doubt too... But Ashley classify it (ABOK1693) as a "whale knot", a very solid, reliable knot. and who am I to contradict Ashley 😂
