    Bernardo's style is basically the fundamental of my jiu jitsu game since I was a white belt. Being 40 year old, I find his techniques are the best for older grapplers because how simple but very effective they are.

      I absolutely love Bernardo but he lost fair and square to Rodolfo, on multiple occasions. The only time Bernardo faired well against Rodolfo was at the pans in 2011. Lost 8 times out of 8. That being said, he's one of my favourites ever.

      @@MCHiphopotamus but I wasn't suggesting anything different really, never said he won any of those either :). Rodolfo and Buchecha were super ahead of the competition in those days, I still consider an achievement he had two competitive matches out of many.

    Good Video, but you're not entirely right about saying that Bernardo was the original mind behind lapel guard, I don't mean to be the guy that points out one use of language then makes a big comment but Bernardo used Lapel "assisting" rather than a whole guard based around the control of the Lapel like worm guard or squid guard that were invented by Kennan, The control of Half guard comes from the lower body connection and often through the use of an under hook or in Bernardo's case a lapel, as he would often allow opponents to flatten him out with an under hook then he'd feed the lapel and sweep them, and the control from deep half comes from being so far beneath the opponents center of gravity you gain different types of advantages, worm and squid guard are kinda "pure" lapel guards where as Bernardo's isn't that

    • @DeepDiveJJ
      @DeepDiveJJ  Год назад

      Thank you! And you're entirely right! I just felt that people may have believed Keenan was the first athlete to make heavy use of the lapels from guard. While Keenan definitely took it to another level as you said, Bernardo (and im sure many before Bernardo) were innovating with the lapels earlier on.

    • @stolenidentity8270
      @stolenidentity8270 Год назад

      @@DeepDiveJJ Yeah I understand that, It's just that I thought that It was kinda a paradox for you to be putting respect on one athletes name who doesn't get enough respect for his accomplishments then diss Keenan, Keenan doesn't get the respect he deserves either, people are judging him from what he is now, well past his prime, but no one judges him from what he once was, he carried Non brazillian competitor jiu jitsu for a long time and was one of the best technical innovaters of our time, he deserves respect for that , possibly your next video idea?
