That tournament is defined by the combined contributions. With the amount of injuries that took place, especially in the middle of the matches, the team really stood out as a Team and not individuals. Everyone remembers the Gabba test (and rightfully so) but to some extent, the draw in Sydney was a bigger achievement with all that happened during the game. If the coming series is even half the fun of that series, we are in for a treat
Siraj was the only bowler who played all 4 tests and Rahane and Pujara were the only batsmen who played all 4 tests if I remember correctly. We lost players, often in the middle of matches, but the rest of the team filled that gap without issue, and whoever came into the 11 in the following test almost always performed. My favourite cricketing memory of the last 25 years.
Pujara will be gravely missed. No one is there to grind the opposition bowling to the ground by blocking 😢 Who is there to anchor are weak batting line up?
