    There's a weird interaction that my friendd got into yesterday:
    During a dungeon run, he had Snipe and Explosive Runes (new mage secret). The boss played a 1 health minion, that triggered both. Since the minion was dealt 4 damage from Snipe, it was at -3 Health. Then it was dealt 6 damage from Explosive Runes, bringing it to -9 health. This made the boss take 9 damage from Explosive Runes.

    • @Zeroneji
      @Zeroneji 6 лет назад +3

      ImDeath the mage secret probably works by dealing the damage first, and then checking what the Overkill damage (the -x hp that is shown when a minion takes more damage than it's health). Afterwards, it deals the amount of Overkill damage it found to the enemy hero.

    I think what happens is that when a minion is playued while Spiritsinger is on the field, the game checks to see if it's a deathrattle minion. If not, Spiritsinger's effect isn't trigger and by extension, neither is the deathrattle, so, in other words...
    Lynessa played => Deathrattle effect check for Spiritsinger => No deathrattle => Lynessa battlecry
    vs
    Moatlurker played => Deathrattle check for Spiritsinger => Deathrattle found => ML battlecry => Spiritsinger triggers deathrattle

    I think the Umbra interaction is blizzards new 'checking' system. Lynessa didnt come onto the battlefield with a deathrattle to trigger so Umbra is checked to not proc any deathrattles after its battlecry. If this works the same with Unearthed raptor or the new cube then this certainly is a bug, but if those two dont trigger as well, then it is just the checking as it hits the field.

    • @NoeLPZC
      @NoeLPZC 6 лет назад

      The cube should trigger since it's a deathrattle card. Same as moat lurker.

  • @MrNevin
    @MrNevin 6 лет назад +13

    I think you should have tested the Umbra battlecry/deathrattle interaction with the rouge card that copies a deathrattle to see if it works the same. Because it is not a deathrattle minion but gains it during the battlecry

    question: if you are rogue, steal lynessa, played a shadowstep during the game.. you wont be able to play her, without her instantly putting herself back into your hand, right?

    • @alexjoe5914

      lmfao 7 mana do nothing and take a slot into your hand benbrode level of troll right there

      I wonder if you used multiple Shadowsteps would the cost reduction stack?
      If so, I'm sure you could do some crazy shit with an infinitely self-bouncing 0-Cost minion - even if it's a seriously unlikely setup.

    • @halsti99
      @halsti99 6 лет назад +13

      you cant really plan a deck around maybe stealing a lynessa though. also, there are no battlecry buffs, so no matter how much you buff her, she would always go back to your hand and do nothing. maybe trigger a knife juggler for 7 mana...

    • @JustaBigMan
      @JustaBigMan 6 лет назад +11

      OnEiNsAnEmOtHeRfUcKa Once lynessa get shadowstep, she will instantly go back to your hand and do nothing (kinda like if you shadowstep yogg)

    • @EnderofGames
      @EnderofGames 6 лет назад +8

      Yogg is a different scenario, because 1: Yogg *used* to continue to work once he shadow stepped himself, and 2: Yogg chooses random targets, while Lynessa always targets herself. If I have see anything from HS, it's that being in the hand does not interfere with spells that trigger at funny times. The idea that the shadowsteps stack is worth exploring.

  • @enderborniceghost1554
    @enderborniceghost1554 6 лет назад +9

    About adaptation+Lynessa: can it be that Lynessa always chooses one of three buffs randomly? Like, u had and picked poison and lynessa picked poison, you picked had windfury or spell shield or 3rd adaptation and lynessa picked spell shield

    The key thing about the death rattle is that it is gained. It only triggers off of death rattle minions. The ordering is, does it have battlecry, does it have deathrattle, then gain effects. What happened with moat lurker is that it has deathrattle with or without the battlecry. When summoned it has battlecry yes, answered yes for deathrattle then the effect of what it destroyed and umbra happened .with linesssa it's yes battlecry, no deathrattle, the effects gained and applied.
    Tldr, keywords are checked yes or no first, then the effects occur.

  • @thedoxik
    @thedoxik 6 лет назад +4

    there is a possible bug, when Explosive Runes trigger on a minion with negative health (for example 1 health minion getting hit twice by knifejuggler [played before explosive runes]). it assignes excess damage as DMG minus HEALTH, what in mentioned situation results in 7 dmg to the face from Runes.

    Nice video toast. A card that needs more testing and I would love to see you try is Temporus.
    What if YOU play Temporus on your extra turn from your opponents Temporus?
    What is Brann Temporus interaction?
    What if your opponent plays Time Warp on their extra turn?
    Thank, have a good one.

    • @kamikazesatellite2830

      Brann + Temporous does nothing because it doesn't say take an extra turn but take 2 turns. Just like having multiple Brann activates battlecries only 2 times.

  • @wrath6916
    @wrath6916 6 лет назад +24

    Hey Toast! Something funny happened to me the other day: The new mage secret (Explosive Runes) dealt 7 damage to the enemy hero even tho I had no spellpower on the board. I think what happened is the opponent summoned a 3 health minion that triggered BOTH my Snipe (hunter secret) and then my Explosive Runes. The 3 health minion had -1 life when the rune acted on it, resulting in my opponent's hero taking 6-(-1)=7 damages. Is that correct? Could you check Explosive Rune, sniper and other effects interractions please? :)

    • @ChardoraMagelight
      @ChardoraMagelight 6 лет назад +3

      The damage dealt to the enemy hero is based on how negative the health goes, I saw a hearthstone mythbuster video showing off that interaction.

    I wonder if the adaptation on Lynessa picks from all possible adapts, or only ones shown when the initial spell was cast. Between the two tests this is unconfirmed.

  • @novaglacial9779
    @novaglacial9779 6 лет назад +4

    6:20 It doesn't work because Lynessa has to have an original deathrattle to be activated by Umbra, Lynessa is not a deathrattle minion so it doesn't work... i dont know if you guys understand, Umbra doesn't activate the Deathrattle if the card doesn't have deathrattle when the card is in your hand. That also means that Umbra doesn't activate Unearthed Raptor's deathrattle by the same reason.

      Seems like Lynessa is not working as intended (or the raptor is bugged, and Lynessa is correct).
      EDIT: Turns out, the change a few months back to how battlecries resolve (think wild pyro + shadow madness ruclips.net/video/3nJDHtyh7PU/видео.html) actually made raptors and lynessa behave the same way. Neither will proc the umbra effect anymore.

    Toast, I ran into something interesting the other day. I played a jeweled macaw against a mage that had swamp King dred and explosive runes. Explosive runes triggered first, dealing 5 damage to my face and killing my minion, but apparently dred still had to attack due to his effect, so he also hit my face, causing me to take another 9 damage. I thought this might be something you could test and explain.

    I thought you will show the interaction between shadowboxer and elixir of lifesteal, one of the 4 unidentified priests potions. Apparently it causes a loop, where shadowboxer pings after healing, heals your face from the ping, thus pings again. And again and again. Easiest OTK ever, with two shadowboxers, just keep in mind you need to be on low hp in order to do the combo.

  • @cbond2389
    @cbond2389 6 лет назад +2

    To answer why Umbra doesn't trigger Lynessa is the way they reworked the ordering of mechanics. Hearthstone compiles all the applicable effects and triggers, then executes.
    >Plays Lynessa
    >Umbra checks for deathrattle
    >No deathrattle, continue with Lynessa being played
    >Lynessa gains spikeridge steed
    >Plays Moat Lurker
    >Umbra checks for deathrattle
    >Deathrattle found, trigger it after battlecry and Umbra is still on board
    >battlecry happens
    >moat lurker kills minion
    >umbra triggers deathrattle

    Does Umbra work with Seeping Oozeling or Unearthed Raptor? Those two cards also do not have a deathrattle and could gain one as a result of their battlecry. If those two work, then so should Lynessa. If not, then the reasoning could be the same as Silvermoon Portal/Wild Pyro interaction change. When the card entered play, the effect (deathrattle) was not there yet, thus it did not trigger. Or Umbra has incorrect wording and behind the scenes actually reads "After you summon a DEATHRATTLE minion, trigger its deathrattle". I could see why the extra word would be omitted since most of the time it seems redundant.

    • @SoulSpikes
      @SoulSpikes 6 лет назад +8

      GoodEgor idk about seeping oozeling, but I know for a fact that unearthed raptor does NOT work with umbra after several dungeon runs as rogue.

    • @tremor1238
      @tremor1238 6 лет назад +3

      If you compare it to Magic the Gathering you can explain why.
      Altough Umbra’s effect would resolve after Battlecry resolve it would still need to be triggered and wait for its turn to resolve. Upon summoning the creature it doesnt have deathrattle so Umbra never triggers and never get put on the stack to resolve

    • @EnderofGames
      @EnderofGames 6 лет назад +1

      MTG rules don't apply. HS has no stack system, everything triggers and resolves in one step before others trigger. Toast's description is accurate: Either Umbra is misworded (very plausible) or this is not the intended interaction.

    Since the lynessa+spikeridged didn't trigger umbra, I'm curious to see if the same is true for a minion buffed by val'anyr as its deathrattle would also be "unnatural."

    • @patrickwienhoft7987
      @patrickwienhoft7987 6 лет назад

      Very interesting question...
      The point why it doesn't trigger atm is the new rule changes from Patch 9.2 where they defined that first all triggers for sth are collected and then all phases happen (i.e. Mindgames is played, everything that can trigger queues up and only those who queued up do resolve, no matter what came out of Mindgames).
      For Lynessa Umbra can't trigger as she simply has no DR when her play sequence starts and there is no way for her to enter the queue later.
      So my theory atm for Val'anyr is that it will trigger Umbra, but tbh the Advanced Rulebook is far from being up to date.

    @mentalkitty789 6 лет назад +5

    Hey Toast awesome showing off these interactions! I have a question about Umbra though. Does her trigger Deathrattle work with Unearthed Raptor? I think that may be a better example as it is a minion that does not naturally have a deathrattle attached to it. That result may be a more apt comparison since she does not have a natural deathrattle attached to her and only gains it through her battlecry.
    If it does then I'd say I'm still confused, but I don't own the cards so I can't test this theory without dropping money.

    • @SunSun-sk4si
      @SunSun-sk4si 6 лет назад

      mentalkitty789 agreed. I had the same train of thought when he opted for Moat Lurker. Unearthed Raptor technically doesn’t have the Deathrattle Keyword as its actual effect (and thus doesn’t get resurrected by N’Zoth, whereas Carnivorous Cube and Moat Lurker do, just without their actual Deathrattle effect), and neither does Lynessa

    Hey Toast, I came across a very strange interaction in a dungeon run earlier today, I had drafted horn of Cenarius and pulled out a dark iron dwarf, a knife juggler, and a doom guard (they were on the board in that order but all came out at the same time). The knife juggler activated only once. I was wondering if you would want to take the time to come across these strange new interactions. Of course, you will, being the most educated hearthstone player as well as the memiest. Anyways, cheers, big fella.

    • @prototypecrysis

      That's just because the cards are not actually summoned at the same exact time. As far as I'm aware, nothing in HS really happens simultaneously. They were probably put into play in the order they occurred in your deck. So the animation put them all on board, but really it was dwarf, juggler, and then doomguard. Since the Knife Juggler was technically in play while Doomguard was summoned, a single knife was triggered.

  • @ThistleBlue
    @ThistleBlue 6 лет назад +2

    Lynessa doesn't have a deathrattle originally. Umbra won't trigger the spell added deathrattle, as a Battlecry can only happen after the summon takes place.
    This is intended, and is not a bug.

    • @Sniperfuchs
      @Sniperfuchs 6 лет назад

      Then the wording is wrong. N'zoth somewhat makes sense since it specifically says "deathrattle minions", which is a category of cards (cards which have a "base" deathrattle, not an "artificial" one). Umbra however suggests that if you play ANY minion, its deathrattle should trigger. And to prove this point, the HS gamepedia says that Battlecries trigger BEFORE an "after you summon" effect (tested with Knife Juggler), which Umbra has. However, this might be outdated, can't check right now.

  • @CristiMirt
    @CristiMirt 6 лет назад +4

    The interaction between Lyra and Umbra is actually correct. I remember they changed a bit how these kind of interactions work. When Lyra is summoned, but before the battlecry triggers, Umbra will look at it, see that it has no deathrattle, and ignores it.

      Only going by the effect, it shouldn't check for a deathrattle to trigger. It doesn't say "after you summon a minion", implying it should try to trigger the effect for every minion you summon, whether they have a deathrattle or not.

    I think the Umbra/Lynessa interaction comes down to the "validation" phase recently introduced. At the moment Lynessa hits the board, because she doesn't have Deathrattle, Umbra's trigger fails to validate. Thus, even when she gains Deathrattle via her Battlecry, Umbra's ability cannot trigger because it wasn't validated. (This is the same as the Celestial Dreamer/Jungle Giants interaction.)

    Though I know it's an edge case, I found in a dungeon that Snipe and Explosive Runes interact with one another. I had the treasure that gives three random secrets, those two among them. My opponent played a 1 health minion. Snipe triggered first, killing the minion. Then Explosive Runes triggered, sending all 6 damage to face, but interestingly, it also carried over the remaining damage from Snipe, resulting in 9 face damage.
    I'm not sure if any way this could be done reliably in standard, but it was an interesting thing to see.

    • @leetri
      @leetri 6 лет назад

      Explosive Runes actually deals increased damage if the minion has negative health. Since Snipe deals 4 damage to the minion and it only has 1 HP it effectively has -3 HP, so Explosive Runes deals 6+3 damage. No idea why, but that's what happens.

    @lavalamp2728 6 лет назад +4

    I think a better comparison to the Umbra+Lynessa interaction would be Umbra+Seeping Oozeling, since that doesn't have deathrattle as a keyword, and only gains it after the battlecry phase, but before the summon phase. Can you test if Umbra triggers the Oozeling's newly gained deathrattle?

    • @patrickwienhoft7987
      @patrickwienhoft7987 6 лет назад +1

      It doesn't. Btw this was testable before with Unearthed Raptor. Up until Patch 9.2 Umbra triggered. After that not anymore. That's because of the rule changes.
      Before 9.2 the basic scheme for a sequence was: Collect triggers for phase, resolve triggers, repeat. This lead to such things as Wild Pyromancer being summoned by Mindgames in the Spell Text Phase. Then the After Spell Phase collected its triggers (including the newly summoned Pyro) which then triggered.
      In 9.2 the changed the scheme to: Collect triggers of all phases, then resolve phases with exactly those triggers (and no new ones). So before Raptor/Lynessa hits the board, HS "broadcasts" all the info about what's going to happen (i.e. "7 mana, 1/1, legendary, has battlecry, no deathrattle" etc) to all triggers. Those then decide whether to queue or not in their respective phase. Since Lynessa has no DR, Umbra/Raptor do not queue and they have no way to enter the queue.
      (Note: queued triggers may still leave the queue tho, i.e. Redemption may have queued for the death sequence of an Eggnapper, but decides to leave the queue later when it would be its turn to trigger, but the board is full due to the 1/1 Raptors)

    @Disguised Toast The reason the Deathrattle/Battlecry interaction works differently for Lynessa than for Moat Lurker is the same reason Malkazar's Imp works with Cataclysm and Deathwing. When the minion hits the battlefield is when things are checked, THEN they do them in a specific order. So for Lynessa, it hits play and has no deathrattle, so it does not queue that up.
    For Moatlurker, it does have a deathrattle, so it queues it up, even though there is no minion influenced yet. Then the battlecry happens, and it saves that info. Then the deathrattle resolves and it looks for the tag, which has happened by now, and gives you your 1/1 dude. I believe it is working as it is worded, based on the previous examples of multiple things happening at the same time before.

    I have 2 suggestions here, the first would be how do the turns play out if you play a Temporus on your turn and the enemy plays one during one of his 2 turns. You obviously could squeeze in one or even two Brann Bronzebeards there for a hilarious amount/ordering of all the turns.
    The second one isnt really an interaction between cards but Im curious how often your Batllecries trigger during a Dungeon Run if you have the /Battlecries trigger Twice/ passive card and are playing against one of the bosses that also lets all battlecries trigger twice.

    Spiritsinger Umbra + Lynessa + Spikeridged Steed: This is a casualty of the trigger validation change from a few patches back. Since Lynessa didn't have a deathrattle when she was played, Spiritsinger Umbra didn't trigger it in the after summon resolution step. If Lynessa had existed before that patch, Spiritsinger Umbra would absolutely have triggered the Spikeridged Steed-granted deathrattle, just like how a Wild Pyromancer would trigger when it was summoned by Silvermoon Portal or Mindgames, or how it would trigger when switching sides from Shadow Madness or Mind Control.
    Moat Lurker is a completely different case. Moat Lurker always has a deathrattle, it just doesn't do anything until the battlecry resolves. However, since it does have a deathrattle at all, Spiritsinger Umbra sees it as valid to trigger when it enters play, so the trigger resolves in the after summon step.

      The Lynessa interaction also happens exactly the same way as Unearthed Raptor + Umbra. The deathrattle that Unearthed Raptor gains used to trigger immediately, but it no longer does: ruclips.net/video/mzgz3EKFqfk/видео.html
