This was a very interesting interview.
James' content is top quality and he clearly works very hard on his channel and those are definitely the key reasons for his success.
I also think that he benefited a lot from the timing of his channel launch and his video about fake gurus - That video came out in February 2020, right in the middle of the coronavirus lockdown when people were searching for how to make money online and were seeing all those fake gurus first hand!

I just watched his video on guru's online. I was surprised to see that a lot of what he says is applicable to Fox Web School.
I have been trying to follow your content through your channel and I like much of it, some great ideas on sales, but you do trigger a number of the same red flags as some of the "fake guru's" which makes me incredibly reluctant to actually pay out real cash on your coaching. I have yet to see any real website building to prove you actually do what you say you do, and I did see the video a while back that says you now focus completely on coaching. To say you went from web design to coaching in a few years and considering that your videos in the last 3 years have all been towards educational content, I wouldn't like to assume but it looks like coaching was the long term goal from the start. And it looks like you only built sites long enough to affirm your reputation as an authority then switched to coaching full time. I am not sure how much I would pay for coaching from somebody who doesn't build sites themselves for a living.
I am not trying to be rude here, I truly want to believe in your content, but so far I feel just as bemused with this channel as I am with many others like it. Admittedly you do not push your course onto us every chance you get. But there is so little information out there about you or your professional history that the only place any investigation leads is to your forum post and to the coaching business. Even Ran Segal from flux actually has a personal site where he conducts (or conducted now) his actual web design business.
As you focus on sales, my question as a potential customer right now is 'can I trust this guy to deliver what he promises?' The only review I can find online is one accusing Fox Web School of copying content from another place, no gleaming reviews of past customers (outside of the forum you advertise it on). You do not even mention any technical aspects of web development other than the two most basic components (html and css). You never mention Javascript or wordpress or webflow other than in your ultimate guide PDF and I find it hard to believe you could build sites without knowing about them. And to my knowledge you do not show how to track site performance (though I have not been through EVERY video) which strikes me as an essential part of proving the success of your work to current and future clients.
Once again, not my intention to throw shade, some of your videos are in my favourites list for sure and much of the stuff about sales is brilliant. But some of your content seems to fizzle out (such as the 100k challenge). I was pulled into the channel due to this challenge but the videos sort of stop without any conclusion and the only time I saw you reference it was in the talk with 'A nerds world' (which was awesome by the way).
I am looking for information to start my own business, I have no problem in investing cash into something if I feel confident in it but I am very lost with this channel right now. I get the feeling from your videos that you are a no nonsense person, I want to trust you, can you shed some light on these concerns?

    • @FoxWebSchool
      @FoxWebSchool  3 года назад +1

I get where you are coming from...
Im pretty happy with the growth of my school and don't really feel the need to share too much extra to attract people "on the fence".
It seems a lot of people wants EVERYTHING from a coach before they buy and I don't really care to share a lot of personal/client info.
I am not trying to be some big influencer or mega coach - I actually dont like the "coaching space" too much either but I do enjoy teaching the right type of people.
I probably miss out on some sales but I get to enjoy a private life and don't have to deal with people spamming me or my clients.
I do regret not finishing the 100k challenge but some personal stuff came up - such is life.
I am working on a 2021 version which is more doable (I am only a one man production team ha!).
If you are genuinely interested in coaching you can email me / apply and I can show you more details about my business 1-on1.
If not feel free to comment on here and I will try to answer questions when I can.

Just sit down and think for a moment about what you just said. You may realise what huge problems Facebook solves.
      1) It's made connectivity for much easier.
      2) It's made sharing different content with each other so much easier.
      3) You can literally find and connect with anyone from anywhere in the world, find specific groups or pages, and you don't have to move from your place to do so.
      4) If people waste time on it or forget their real lives it's their fault not Facebook's.

The "problem" is the people have a lot of time on their hands and no ideas about how to use the time. Mark Zuckerberg solved that problem by giving people a way to spend time, while at the same time mining information for marketers and producers of goods and services. Win-win all around.
