Green Ghost's kill... He knew that EVERY team member had each other's back (which we saw earlier in the episode beautifully) and he used Darkwing's body to make her solid, knowing she would catch him on instinct, so he could kill her. That was such a brutal tactical move and it was the thing that made me even more terrified of him: his obvious intelligence and analytical abilities.

      Yeah.
By the time they "got serious" part of the team was gone.
As the full team, they could beat Omni man.
Id even say they were more likely to win than Omni.
But their winning chances went down with every member they lost.
And once the shock was gone, they've lost to many members to have a winning chance in a straight up brawl.
They would have needed Barry or Batman level on the spot thinking to win.
      Or survive, for that matter.

Red Rush is definitely faster than Omniman. It’s the only physical attribute the Guardians have over him. Once Red Rush was killed and green ghost slaughtered, they were done. Red Rush can keep his team from being hit and green ghost has some really good abilities to keep Omniman grounded and/or disoriented. They were also fighting nice from the beginning. But Nolan figured that and it played a part in his defeat of them.

OM said he was going to go in 100% hard because if he thought about it for a second that they were his friends he might not have been able to accomplish it. This shows how much earth protoculture had infected his mind alongside his wife and son. They would have stompled him if they worked together and didn't began to do PIS things. I honestly think he at least gave them a shot at a fair enough fight, they just didn't take it seriously.

    • @williamfalls
      @williamfalls 7 месяцев назад +11

He went from immortal first for a number of reasons: his powers are the most on par with Omni-Man so when the fight is on he's gonna be able to match with Omni-Man, he's basically the leader and most experienced of the group, and because he's the most durable so he may have to spend more time killing him than the rest. The reason he waited on Rush is because he knew that if he was directly going for Rush then Rush would stay defensive and so he had to bait Rush in close enough to grab him... Which it worked out well for Omni-Man as he predicted Rush follow up attacks on got him. Then the Domino effect happens where he knows he could bait a few more kills which quickly narrowed it down to more manageable numbers.

You're forgetting two important factors here:
    1. During his entire career working with the Guardians, Omniman intentionally downplayed his own powers. He never let the Guardians know exactly how strong or fast he really was.
    2. Omniman has the "Batman Defense"; he has spent so long working with each of these people, he has had time to work out their fighting styles and potential weaknesses, giving him a huge knowledge advantage. This is why he went for Immortal and Red Rush first - they were the biggest threats.

Catch anyone by surprise and you have a chance. Catch them on guard and well you in trouble.
Surprise can guarantee 1 second - 30 mins opening depending on the shock level.
If its a jump scare it can be 1-5 second window opening
If its traumatic shock like killing someone so quickly and close
5 - 30 mins because even if its traumatic some will shake off the stun kill you and then go back into their trauma.
Now the trauma can be years but the shock and reflexes will not be stunted the same. Example if your mom or dad ever died god forbid the news i nthe hospital you will shock into a unrecovered state for possibly 5- 30 mins it means someone can come push u hold u at gun point and all but the next day even though u still sad someone might get punched for saying something bad about your dead family member.
Basically Green Ghost was done the moment 2 members died im sure she aint have time to rationalize the horror or make sense of it so she left open especially when he threw the dead body at her. I mean everyone recovery time different so you must always act fast when this shock is set in. (everyone can be her here if their loved one is tossed like a ragdoll at them)
I mean if i was a kryptonian and he did that to my friends out of nowhere i would be trying to figure out wtf is going on rationaizling how we go from 0 - 100 processing things and it might be for the 1st 3-5 mins but after that a great rage would embed in me if im still able to put up a fight by then. After the fight trauma would set in.
Omni Man - Is quite strategic in his fights more then ppl think and he basically even force you to drop your guard emotionally.

I imagine that, for most other fights, they usually get the the mission details from Cecil and are able to formulate a plan of attack in advance. In this case, the uncertainty of being attacked by an ally was enough to disrupt their team's cohesion.

Actually, yeah. The minute people started dying was after him. We see throughout the fight that Rush is helping his friends. You catch glimpses of him saving the Wonder Woman clone (forgive me) and obviously he saves the Immortal at the start of the fight. Immortal obviously being the one guy who has the best chance at taking him down. Rush was the lynchpin, but I think he didn't have enough in him to actually take down Omniman. He needed to be playing defensively, ensuring everyone survives so they can keep getting hits in instead of trying for jabs himself.
I think it was really good character, though. Rush was depicted as impatient, so he tried to take on multiple roles when he desperately needed to focus on helping the others. If he had to take shots, focusing on his back would have been better to ensure he didn't get himself caught.

    • @tropicturtle9021
      @tropicturtle9021 6 месяцев назад +6

Even if he was holding back, it doesn’t mean the guardians couldn’t beat him.
We know for a fact Red flash is faster than Nolan. The fight proves it because Nolan had to bait flash into a trap to catch him. If Nolan was faster than red flash, he wouldn’t have had to do that, even if he was trying to get beat up.
We also know for a fact that the immortal and war woman are strong enough to hurt him. He clearly is feeling the injuries he takes in the fight. The immortal genuinely fights Nolan for a bit in a scenario where Nolan has no reason to hold back, and in the comics, during a time travel arc war woman straight up manages to knock Nolan out. Again, in a scenario he’s clearly not holding back.
Nolan also had no answer for green ghosts power if she had used it properly.
All these factors combined mean, holding back or not, Nolan losing was a very real possibility.

    • @devinmiller9765

@@tropicturtle9021 never said he wasn't able to get beaten by them by as evidence of Nolan destroying the flaxans and going fast enough through buildings to cause a thermonuclear explosion more then a few times it would also be my guess that Nolan was again still holding back and the fact that he catches red rushes punch with ease after letting him land a few. We know that both war woman and immortal could hurt Nolan even the second fight with the immortal we see him hurt Nolan why trying to gouge out his eyes but it doesn't do any real or lasting damage and that fight seems to have been even shorter their first time around that's with Nolan also being distracted by the drugged up Kaiju and Mark being put in danger as well. I don't dispute the fact that the guardians could have done damage but in reality it seems that even if they did, Nolan was being calculating with how he could manage to get more time to push away the time of his conquest.
Not to mention that even if the guardians were doing really well, even in the comics they show that with invincibles help they are able to restrain Omniman, the guardians in the show are pretty evident that as Samson puts it "we're fighting like six individual assholes" maybe not to the extent the new guardians were but they were not as cohesive as a they should be, red rush should not have gone on the attack both him and green ghost should have been playing defense for the team, martian man should have been more focused on restraining and being a mailable target for Nolan, dark wing should have been using his gadgets to keep Nolan's senses in check and constantly disoriented, instead dark wing throws a couple of explosives and tries to get the jump on the guy with super strength and speed, warwoman and immortal were too busy monologuing and trying talking about the why Omniman is attacking instead of on the situation and Aquarius despite being effective he did the mortal sin of fighting he pulled the same move too soon and died. Not to mention while they could have worked better together no one tries to call for backup against not only the guy who could possibly solo them all and more but if he was mind controlled like they thought, they didn't try to get help or a message out about the strongest hero on the planet becoming a threat.
So again I still think he is deliberately taking those blows and is feeling them but I think he is doing so on his own terms, hell we see Nolan fight viltrimites later on and although a better match up he can still take on multiple. I don't think the guardians would or could be a major threat to Nolan if he knew he didn't have to hold back so others didn't see he was killing the guardians and that he needed to be injured too to make it seem he was attacked. The point is Nolan was fighting with a game plan and a handicap, the guardians weren't they fought with ego and confusion, they couldn't have one that fight.

Omni-man’s main advantage in this fight was the element of surprise. Red Rush basically saved Immortal from getting taken out right off the bat, so it’s clear that Red Rush was a huge asset to the fight. He should’ve stuck to keeping everyone out of harm’s way, blocking whatever punches he could and not directly engaging in combat. He clearly doesn’t have the striking power to deal significant damage unless his target is immobilised, and the second he went onto the offensive he got himself caught and couldn’t break himself free from Omni-man’s grasp.
Green Ghost should’ve worked to immobilise Omni-man by phasing him into the ground and restricting his ability to move, since it’d probably be harder to break free without being able to fully move your body. This way, Red Rush can try and pummel him without the threat of getting his skull crushed, as Green Ghost doesn’t seem that physically strong as the others and her abilities leave her pretty untouchable for the most part.
Martian Man can also assist in immobilising as it’d then keep Omni-man busy with two restrictors while Immortal and War Woman attack directly while Darkhawk and Aquarus stay at a safe distance to attack from afar.
It’s a very interesting fight, looking at it from many different perspectives and the potential differences that could’ve been made. Definitely a huge highlight of the show in the very first episode which immediately made it stand out as a show that wasn’t gonna fuck around.

The show did wonderfully showing not only the prowess and cunning of Omni-man it also shows the valiance of the guardians of the globe as a entire unit . The fact that Omni-man still needed to ambush them just shows how incredible the team is . Not only in the beginning were there morals on but he clearly used that to his advantage .
His analytical and ruthlessness is nearly unmatched as he constantly uses that to suprise and catch the guardians off guard .
Although for the sake of the Plot I think thats why they lost the way they did . Again in the beggining of the show we see how skillful and experienced the guardians are .with that experience and teamwork they would likley defeat him or atleast loose with a closer possibility to win . Although he still blackout after ghe fight so they where still so close in thier worst teamworked fight , just imagine thier best .
Even without showing his full potential he still chose to ambush them ( he as in omni man ) .
This is so interesting but also relieving that although they were killed they were legit threats to him .

The simple answer here is 'Yes'. And the comics show this to be true. That said, all of them act foolishly because they don't seem to get the stakes.
Immortal and WW standin were both physically capable of putting him down. They even show that they are capable of doing so with little effort. Each of them showed they were able even while fighting Omniman in short little bursts.
Darkwing staying on sensory attacks, Red rush sticking to defense, and Green going for internal attacks whenever the others hold him down with their attacks/suppression. They were entirely capable. The major problem was really the shock. In the comics, Invincible fixed that by simply telling them the stakes and being living proof.

You think some intentionally non-lethal explosive baterangs can make him FLINCH?
Dude's playing them, letting them beat on him and making them think there's a chance to keep them there. If any of them had done something bothersome like try running away, he'd ignore everyone else and just murder them.
He literally could've just grabbed a meteor and turned their entire base into a crater if he wanted. He had a specific plan and he knows what he can take. Viltrimites don't use this strategy to conquer planets because they're worried about being killed, they do it because they believe it's the best method overall. They aren't trying to genocide every race, they want to absorb them and "perfect" them. One agent going and "prepping" the planet just maximizes the numbers they get to add. It's MUCH easier to conquer a people if you avoid just openly waging war. Them throwing wave after wave of volunteer corpses is much less likely if ONE fucker just destroys all their best people and makes it clear "you cannot do shit, just surrender and do what we say"

But knowing they WERE a credible threat to him, he knew his best chance was to kill a few important lynchpins of their team before they had time to process what was happening, get over the shock of his betrayal, decide they needed to actually take him down, and formulate an effective strategy (or, given their professionalism elsewhere, pick an existing one). He seemed confident he would win, but he knew them well and had been planning this probably since the moment they met, so wasn’t stupid enough to leave them an opening to do their job & overcome impossible odds.

Also, the fact that he gets them all in one place is so they don't know that somebody is coming after them and aren't prepared. It might seem like it would make things harder for them, but unless he took down immortal, war woman AND red rush before the other learn about it, he's absolutely fucked because there is no way they're not staying together on high alert after that. And it's really unlikely that he could even come close to killing red rush if he was alone seeing as he could just run away and warn the others.

The problem is and what Nolan actually was relying on is that after years of being on their side the Guardians never prepared a plan to defeat him as it never entered their mind they would need to. Unlike Batman in Justice League who had plans to take down theblikes of Superman in case needed these guys just lived their lives thinking Omni man is their friend. But your plan would actually work pretty well if the Guardians like most superheroes have not had their greatest weakness and that is that they assume the best of everyone especially a guy who has been posing as earth defender for over 2 decades. Idk why, but somehow I really felt Red Rush’s death. I think it’s for a couple of reasons:
    1. We had just been introduced to him as the guy saving people at the White House, maintaining a relationship, etc
    2. He also saved two guardians in the first few seconds of Omni-Man’s surprise attack. That’s why Omni killed him first (Red Rush would’ve just kept pushing the guardians away to safety). This makes him a really useful character
    3. The way he died seemed so traumatic. Not only was it our first experience of the gruesomeness of this show, but we also saw the pain in Red Rush’s face when he starts punching with broken hands, realizing he might not actually escape this time.
The writers did an excellent job of making the deaths of these superheroes we’ve only known for an episode so heavy and meaningful. Props to them

The way I see it, even as jacked and powerful as he is I think we saw Nolan in a bit of a rut and having “let himself go a bit” for a Viltrumite. Although he looks like a god to us, I bet he had the equivalent of a “dad bod” on Viltrum because he’s been taking it easy and holding back on earth. I could totally imagine some Viltrumite asshole being like “Woah, Nolan! 8% body fat?! Maybe even 9… disgusting! What has this planet done to you?!” lol
I say this because we know that he purposefully hid his full strength and speed and pretended to struggle more than he did so that Cecil and the Guardians would underestimate him… and he does mention to Mark that Viltrumite powers aren’t magic, they need to be exercised and trained to their full potential including flight speed and control. I’m not sure how the flight works but the fact that you can train to fly faster is interesting.
So if Nolan spent over two decades holding back and not training I’m sure he “softened” a bit… inside and out. Physically and mentally.
So while I do think that he was a bit rusty and out of shape I don’t think the guardians could’ve killed him. Subdue him temporarily, maybe. Not kill him though.
I believe he collapsed more from mental exhaustion than anything. I believe he did/does love Mark and Debbie and he knew this was the end. He’s not an emotionless machine or psychopath he’s just been indoctrinated to believe in one thing and he’s spent 20 years slowly breaking that indoctrination by falling in love, having a son, having friends. He was absolutely trying to convince himself just as much as Mark during their “talk” and I do believe killing his friends took a toll on him. Physical strain mixed with emotional trauma is extremely exhausting. That’s what we’re seeing when he collapses.
    That’s just my view anyway…

When Red Rush goes on the offensive, we see him land around half a dozen punches, always in a direction that Omni Man isn't looking in. Omni Man realises this, looks to (screen) left, but then blocks / grapples to screen right. This move catches Red Rush, exactly as Omni Man planned, and we all know what happened next. On this basis, if Red Rush kept pushing people out of the way, eventually Omni Man would spot this and aim his punch / lunge just to one side of his target, thereby instead hitting Red Rush as he ran through. We see on 2 of the times that Red Rush saves someone, it's at the very edge of his ability; i.e. he's not got any flexibility to dodge once he commits to a save.
With perfect hindsight, Red Rush's best opening move (after saving immortal) would be to dash off to Cecil, and leave him a handwritten note and video message explaining the situation. That's not only thinking tactically (to bring immediate backup), but also strategically; even if the Guardians are wiped out, at least humanity has the key information passed onto them, instead of it dying with the Guardians.
It's pretty demeaning, but actually the best use of Darkwing would be for Red Rush to drop Darkwing off with Cecil, so that Darkwing can explain in case Cecil has any follow up questions. It's demeaning but Darkwing is probably just best off as a glorified messenger boy! :'D

I think they could of easily won if given prep time and weren’t taken by surprise…but thats exactly why Omniman gave them no prep time and took them by surprise.
The reason Omniman didn’t immediately come to earth swinging is so he could analyze his opponents and gain their trust so he could methodically take them all out when the time was right. No matter the scenario, the guardians never had a chance because they never expected their friend of many years to turn on them. Omniman would of conquered earth decisively if he didn’t grow a conscious last minute.

it is worth noting that omniman specifically surprise-attacked them - i figure he likely knew it'd throw them entirely off-guard and make it easier for him to take them down. i think if he felt he'd be able to take them down easily then he might not have felt the need to pull a stunt like that.
i also think red rush VERY clearly outclasses him in speed. one of the biggest problems he runs into in his personal life is he struggled to stay engaged with his partner and would often, in a span of *seconds*, rush off to go deal with a crime he noticed and reappear before his partner in his hero suit. right across the world, dealt with in seconds. when he did his sacrifice, i dont think he was anticipating the rest of the guardians sticking around - he may well have expected them to flee and regroup.
it's also worth noting that the sheer brutality of the situation may have sent the guardians into more and more shock as time went on. moreover, we're led to understand that the guardians were pretty tight-knit--- may as well have been family, really. trying to continue to fight in a circumstance where you're watching your best friends, family members, whatever, get mercilessly picked off would fuck anyone up. sure, maybe they normally could've easily taken omniman, but that's why he formed such close connections with them in the first place; they were there to take advantage of.

Their training should have included “Losing the Fight” scenarios. Strategies that necessitate a combat retreat and mitigating an over powering force. Each scenario is a Alamo last stand strategy they should have memorized. It would include upholding directives such as preserving non-combatants, slowing assailant(s) with best uses of abilities, and coordinating with remaining team mates as best as possible. Never should there ever be an enclosed private peace meal fight with befuddled heroes using their abilities in questionable ways on a known opponent.

Omni man probably prevented this from happening, intentionally or not. You gotta remember that his whole plan from the very beginning was to gain their trust and then destroy them all.
Not to mention that plan would include him as well, making him an essential part of delaying the "strong enemy" and allowing the others to escape. Meaning that without him, their planning would've been useless anyways.
