What do you think of the new updates to the Powerplay bikes from Rocky Mountain?
I like the looks of the bike great improvement to it but can you really use all that power and is that why you need that massive battery .
Hi @@ceriway380 , with all E-Bikes the battery range will depend on a number of factors, such as rider weight, the elevation and distance and the conditions in which the bike is used. With the more powerful bikes, it can take some skill to use the full power on really steep technical climbs. A good example of that is the Powerstage at the EWS-E events. The other side to the argument is that a more powerful bike can really help on the technical climbs as you can run a harder hear and so don't need to worry about pedal positions quite in the same way. - What size battery do you use? Do you find it's enough for your riding?
I have lappirre overvolt 527 with a Shimano motor 504 battery and yes some times I needed more battery but that was riding up skiddaw and blencatha in the lake's plenty of power,I understand the power can help but you still need the skills to stop the wheel spinning ,I want a lighter bike with a more flexible battery sizes.
Can't wait for your test ride video on it. Will you put it on your head to head climb test, would imagine this motor flying up your hill climb challenge!
@@ceriway380 Says on the video you can change your power output in the different modes, so you don't have to use 108Nm all the time
I am biase as own the 2019 version, yes they are very expensive but after trying one I knew no others for me, came close. Hurt the bank account though 😔
What I really love about Rocky Mountain, they listened to all our feedback, and implemented everything we wanted upgraded. I cannot justify the new one this year, but cannot wait to one day. See you soon Allan, also a great bike shop Zerobikes nothing is ever too much for them 👊🏻 just for us it can be 🤣
Loving the broken glasses, it reminds me of Jack Duckworth in coronation street
I have one, it's the best e-bike and motor you can get!
Just got a Merida 160 for 50th birthday, gonna try and shift some serious kilo's as I am now a fat git. Been along time since my Caloi years but here goes. Thanks for all the reviews advice entertainment :) Keep on.
Congratulations
You guys and ladies brightened up my day! Thanks!!!
Sweet bike!! I was in the market for a power play but bought the turbo Levo Comp instead. No dealers anywhere in the northeast/ NY, preferred the service available with specialized, totally love my Levo, hope Rocky Mt becomes more consumer relevant.
Banging show as always gents. 👍
That was the Altitude PP as it had 27.5 wheels before now. I'm super stoked for all of the changes for 2022!!! The Instinct PP and Instinct PP BC Edition are also awesome bikes too!!
The best thing about this video is the lady’s hair. It’s glorious.
Rocky Mountain looking good! 🙂👌🏻
Ive had the 2020 Altitude C70 for 2 full seasons now. Still very happy with my choice. This new edition looks very promising. Eliminating the slider guide should get rid of most of the noise. Larger capacity battery and removable to-boot. LCD screen and an extra 10mm travel front/back. Im tempted the start crafting my bike ad right now.
The one distinct feature i dont hear anyone talking about is the Rocky's Dyname motor and its offset drive sprocket. To me having the offset sprocket drive the chain is much better than the motoer directly driving the cranks. The amount of times ive buried my pedals into the ground im sure id have engine/gear issues by now if not for the Dyname setup. Having all that force and shock travel though the bottom bracket cant be good for motors like Bosch, Yamaha or Brose.
The bike is obviously an upgrade from the previous version, as it has a removable battery, built in screen, new geometry and lighter motor. The motor performance is by far the most natural feeling EMTB available, therefore keen MTB riders who want to keep the natural pedal feeling and need some more happiness in their lives, need look no further. I currently have the 2021 model and absolutely love it. Alan and the team at Zero bikes are awesome and provide a superb service.
i just picked up this bike because of your review - got it with a coil shock for 4500 USD
Ride it we want to know if it kicks ass😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Some fantastic words here
Class guys,, 😂😂😂😂
Skills!!!
I got one A70 2023 and I'm happy for tranquillity of the motor, most quieter than bosch e Ihad before even if bosch seemed to be more explosive, this Dyname arrive, you had to pusch, bat arrive
My 2019 altitude A70 PP is awesome!
FULL RIDE REVIEW OVER ON OUR CHANNEL!
Looks like a top runner of choices for me
Current Dyname 4 firmware does not have any mobile app connectivity (no bluetooth nor ATN+), but there is light at the end of the tunnel for this part. But for the actual light, the motor does not, and probably will not, have any output for those dark rides...
When will you be test riding it?
I want the husky xc9 but taking forever here in North America so im opting for the RMPP
Can it be changed to 27.5 inch wheels? Other than that, what an brilliant design. Also enjoyed Nicky's insights, great presenter.
I'm thinking I need to upgrade, but still having bunches of fun with my 2019!
Same here 😭🤣 my 2019 is perfect but then this one has everything we asked for.... what to do 😳😀
Think will stick with mine, as maybe the 2023 will have the tweaks to make it even better after more feedback.
Yeah. Was thinking of an upgrade to but think I’ll stick with my 2019 and upgrade some components. Wait until they get some of the bugs out :-)
@@MrJdrodney fully agree mate, 2nd year is always a little bit better for new models 👍🏼
Plus, I still prefer our colour scheme tbh, like this one but ours is just ⚡⚡⚡
Hello, when do the first units of altitude powerplay c70 arrive in europe?
The new powerplay should come in white/red with maple leafs!
Awe c'mon, I never got a super nice for my Merida on that same hill (Bishop Hill/Munduff hill) up by the Lomonds in Fife over looking Loch Leven ;-(
Style: 350w Classic 26"
Yes, overtime, powerplay and jumbotron are all hockey references which Canadians are just a little fond of 😉
Everyone keeps saying it's a hockey reference in regards to Jumbotron which may also be correct but for me it refers to the Blue Jays playing in the SkyDome with the largest Jumbotron in the world above centre field.
@@pepsione00 it's not just 'also' correct, its the correct reference pertaining to the theme... hockey. Plus Rocky Mountain is from BC(North Van), arguably the birthplace of freeride, not Hogtown
@@sjaan7370 makes sense, just never heard of anyone watching hockey refer to the scoreboard as a Jumbotron when it's universally known in baseball. Not sure what hockey has to do with biking, are the maple leaves all over my bike not repping my country enough? Haha. Either way, love my Altitude!
@@pepsione00 Hockey = Canadian passion, its all about the passion!
Yes all well and good but in the forest today that sprocket assembly will clog up with leaves and mud like my Kenovo today.
Does it come Canadian speed limit?
No link for the spare battery??? 7:16 😢 I would appreciate if someone can actually show us how to remove and charge the battery out of the bike and charger as well. Thank you 😊
A good review would be riding the bike!
which powerplay are you looking at the Altitude? There's more than just one powerplay line.
This is the carbon Altitude Powerplay, but the new features will be on the other models such as the Instinct 👍
Hey just wondering what’s the point of the idler wheel on a high pivot e bike. Because the motor can free wheel avoiding pedal kickback.
The high wheel is the drive. The mid wheel is the torque sensor.
Having issues with our original Powerplay. Intermittent power on/off and our dealer has not been able to solve the issue even after two weeks in the shop. Could use some help RM!
Take it they replaced the speed sensor, and torque arm.
When mine did that it turned out to be the torque arm. What error code are you getting on the app? Also good way to diagnose if torque arm, keep phone in sight with app open and will show you max torque output.
Or if in UK get in touch with Allan at Zerobikes 👍🏼 hope you get it fixed soon 😔
@@ElectricMountainBiker Thank you Sir! Torque arm was replaced and re-calibrated. Speed sensor and magnet on order........Hopefully this works as "error code .33 came up" which leads to speed sensor. Otherwise happy with the bike.
@@morati1963 nice one, sounds like it will 👍🏼 little bit of advice as well, if you can get a spare p e of each as will need to replace them at some point. Stock levels are not great at moment so best spare up where we can 👍🏼
Most dealers who sell Powerplay s are really not good in maintaining such bikes... There are only a few out there which are really good ones... Sad, but 🙈
As great as this bike is, I just cannot justify the price!
Whats the price
they are on sale at the moment, i can get a instinct A30 for 5600$ CAD plus tax. that is pretty good.
Yeah finally I win something :D
Battery washing machine test please.
Chocolate Labrador power! 😀
Trail dogs are the best! 🐾
Loving the channel guys🤟
Been spending a huge amount of time recently checking out your bike reviews as I’m looking to join the club however deciding what to buy is a nightmare.
Can you please do it for me. Where would you spend that hard earned cash?
I am in the same boat as you furiouslee! I am keeping my mountain bike and buying an emtb! But like you, im not sure which way to go! Love the new trek rail and the gen 3 levo but its super hard to find either. Now this powerplay looks interesting too!
@@panhandlemtb4308 I actually have a deposit on the Giant Reign +1 however I’m looking at the Kenevo Expert and Trek Rail 9.8 but both used. Would love a Bullit but my pockets aren’t deep enough. To be honest I just want to play on my new toy now so I’m going to have to buy something asap 😂
@@panhandlemtb4308 oh and I forgot about the Canyon Torque:On. It’s a beast of a bike and very well priced even though it’s running the 504Wh battery. Solution, they sell a dual battery 👍
Did cross the line recently, no choice but to look at every web site, reviews, YT chanels, and availability! Ended up with turbo levo sl comp carbon. Choice made to keep the original MTB feeling, and it is truly fantastic! Good luck as this is definitely hard to tick the box where you gonna spend huge bucks, those are expensives man !
If the $ is not the issue then hands down Rockymountain Altitude or Instinct. The Dyname motor is the single biggest factor. By far a superior design and torque than any other motor manufacturer. Theres a reason you dont see Rocky motors in any of the motor reviews, ... they are a class by themselves. Bosch, Brose, Yamaha, Shimano - not even close.
Looks like the chain easily can drag all kinds of dirt into that motor cover thing that the chain goes through.. i want one but the price is same as you get a EMTB with full fox equipment on while this had cheaper components..
yea it kida has too many moving parts that dirt and crap can get into.
I just brought a Honda super cub 125 I could buy another and still have change. 😁
Is it me or does RM Nicky, have a specialized logo on her jeans pocket?
I think EMTB manufacturers that are focusing on more power are going the wrong direction. I’m trading my full power Levo for Kenevo SL and I can’t wait. I think the focus should be lighter bikes that have barely noticeable motor friction when you get over the 20mph limit(U.S). I’m actually quite a bit faster on my Specialized Enduro than I am on my Levo when going down the mountain and I believe the Kenevo SL will be absolutely awesome!
there is some manufacturer who makes lighter E bikes like orbea. The motor on this one is the most sensitive for power delivery making the most " organic " feel out of all motors at the moment.
Love the RM, however at that price point Id like to see AXS shifting at least , a little more weight lost, and that motor setup which maybe quieter has two points of potential failure being a bottom bracket and also the motor side of it, and the display could been a little higher res or colour based so dont have to look at to notice what mode your in but overall probably a great ride no doubt.
If only Jones was NOT on the show
The dog didn't say Hi back... How rude of him
Hey guys what’s up with your uploading service can’t seem to sign in with my phone anymore 👎🏻
I was considering the rocky this year but thought it might not be reliable and build quality didn't look brilliant.
Love the show! Suggestion: Your show is so great. Great content, great Brit accents, great editing and camerawork, but that wood desk of yours had to go! It's the ultimate DIY distraction! Cheers!
fitting a helmet looks like it would be problematic
Fitting a helmet? A helmet should be on your head and not the bike... Or did I miss something?
In live in the Tyrolean Alps and I really get pissed if I hunt down a gravel road and bikers come up with the bike on the bar...
@@MN-ch7pc I have noticed that Austrian cyclists seem a little self centered so I understand you getting pissed by other cyclists using your track. As for missing something about trying to wear a helmet, try watching the video again on a higher resolution monitor.
Co quit lam
A shame as I like the presenters however this channel is becoming more and more of an advertising channel.
This Rocky item looks like a paid **se licking advertorial as was the how to update your gen 4 Bosch CX to do what bikes like the Levo do as standard for well over 300 quid last week!
Proper testing, proper reviews please.
who ever came up with the colour scheme for that rocky mountain should be sacked!
when will bike manufacturers understand, we want cool looking colour schemes, NOT ones that resemble a toilet bowl after an indian take away!
these rocky mountain bikes just have too many moving parts for me that dirt and crap can get into whats wrong with a normal front chainring? + it looks ugly in my opinion.
Sorry can't agree! I have the old model since 11/2017 and as far as I can tell most people and other eBikers who see me standing with the bike always tell me what an awesome eBike this is or is this an eBike 🤔 😂😉
@@MN-ch7pc beauty is always in the eye of the onlooker ofcourse. if you are happy with yours then stick with it! hows drivetrain wear going with all those little exposed cogs and idlers? just curious
@@SimonBauer7 cogs: sure you have to take care about that, but that's ok to me. the pro is that it get's louder if there is more dirt in it...
sure my wife's turbo levo is quiet, but i like a little "rattling" over whistling of brose, bosch and shimano...
E-Bikes. Strictly for the rich & lazy.
