    Finally rode one. The fact that +2 Boost isn’t available out of the box is simply stupid. As a marketing manager he should know what most riders expect.

  • @_S13_

    Good that you finally got to experience some of the true potential of the Rocky Mountain Powerplay!
    The whole boost setting is a bit confusing. The factory +0 is just lacking support if you are used to Bosch, Shimano, etc. They really should have just made the +2 boost setting the default.

    I'm so glad you came back to this bike and got things sorted Sam. Did you get to try the long chain stay setting? On I side note, I love my RM PP! It's a definite monster on the climbs and absolutely rips the downs 😎

  • @allenleclerc7878
    @allenleclerc7878 10 месяцев назад +3

    No problem upping the boost on a short rip up a short trail. As soon as you plan on any kind of a prolonged climb though, the Dyname will overheat and impose a governor on you power output. Here in Canada in steep conditions, this is happening more and more. Rocky built bikes that have to be ridden constrained. Heads up.
    BTW. why put a boost setting with an option of minus 2? That's just ridiculous. Rocky are in touch with my local shop trying to sort it out with firmware updates. Until this is sorted though and after spending close to $14k on my bike, it's my mission to warn riders of this. Sorry for barging in Sam. Love your channel and appreciate the content but this needs to get out there.

    Great channel👍 I’ve got the older powerplay altitude and i’ve never had to calibrate and it’s still savage on the climbs, definitely stronger than a pals new ebike at 85nm, 1000 miles and going strong

      i have an older too, after 2 seasons, i had a motor cut-off one time and had to calibrate but,. But it's even simpler than the 4.0, it is a good idea to do it after a couple of rides. Not fun when it cuts off like that no warning during a ride.

    How meaningful is the change when you adjust the boost up or down? In other words, if you change the boost to +2, is it noticeably more powerful? At that point, how would you say Ludicrous mode with +2 boost compares with the Bosch CX 4 Turbo mode?

    • @SamsBikes
      @SamsBikes  10 месяцев назад +1

      It’s makes a huge differences! I without testing back to back I would say they are very similar maybe the Rocky has more!

      @@SamsBikes One other follow-up question. I like the "soft pedal" power I get from Bosch. Would you say you still have to put in more effort with the Rocky, even after adding +2 to the boost setting?

    • @QuangNguyen-iz3kg
      @QuangNguyen-iz3kg 10 месяцев назад +2

      Even with boost +2 the RM dyname motor never feels like it's working for you like the bosch does. They want it to feel more natural. It really comes down to individual preference. I personally went back to bosch after selling my 2022 powerplay. You definitely work less on the climbs on a bosch. If staying fresh for dh runs is your thing I'd dissuade you from the dyname 4.0.

    • @sparksfly369
      @sparksfly369 10 месяцев назад

      Agree it’s about personal preference. For me, I want as much assistance as possible to get more DH runs in.

    • @RonnRider
      @RonnRider 7 месяцев назад

      It has more to do with cadence than power. Upping the boost affects assist levels at higher cadences

    Do you guys or Flo has any experience/advise if you for example would like to setup profile A as a shorter distance (20-30 km) with maximum power and then have profile B as a longer distance (eco) 50-60 km range?
    I assume profile A should be in +2 setting but what about the eco/trail/trail+/ludicrous modes? I meaning the % of each levels.
    Already been in contact with Rocky Mountain Canada about this but they say most team riders and employees just ride their bikes i factory so I´m curious to here if Sam/Flo have any other setup combinations?
    Thanks.

      Hi @Brodin87,
      Flo here, from Rocky Mountain. Thank you for your question and If i understand you right, the question you was asking was, what makes the different between modes if the Boost is on +2?
      The Boost Mode have in 0 or +2 or -2 (also +1 or -1) nothing to do with the single modes and %. Only to have a more or less sensibility on the Tourque Sensor. If you put it on +, for sure the our DynaMe 4.0 get more strong, other way around if you turn it on - the DynaMe gets more less.
      So you could only change the Power of your DynaMe how strong or soft he will support you on your Pedalstrokes.
      That would be Ok for you and give you a little helping hand on this point?
      Cheers and "LOVE THE RIDE"
      Flo 😉

      Hi@@FlorianKonietzko
      Thanks for your reply. But that´s not what I meant.
      I´m a Rocky Mountain dealer here in Norway so have had my hands both selling and repairing both the Dyname 3 and 4 engines and I also own a Altitude PP myself so I´m familiar with the torque sensor and the -2 to +2 options.
      What I meant was if you have and recommended complete profiles for a shorter and most powerful profile A for example and a more long distance profile B? Including both the setting for the torque sensor and the engine support for example:
      Profile A
      Boost +1
      Eco 20%
      Trail 45%
      Trail+ 75%
      Ludicrous 98%
      LOVE THE RIDE! :)

      Hi@@Brodin87,
      thanks for your reply and i come direct out of my Meeting with CAN.
      First of all happy to hear you are a Dealer from the first Days on with our Powerplay´s.
      Sorry for misunderstand your question. I want to try to help you again.
      For sure the Canadian Teamriders are just fullgas on there Powerplay Bikes, because there are only qucik uphills to get fast for a long distance Downhill on the Trail. What i can say is how i get ride my Setup as a private person:
      Profile A
      Boost +2
      ECO 32%
      Trail 58%
      Trail+ 76%
      Lidicrous 98%
      I didn´t have Problems to get a ride with my bike in the alps, on warm weather, closed to 2000m altitude.
      Also it´s very importend how much weight is on the Rider, Backpacking etc.
      We didn´t have any specific Profile yet, but i can tell you, i´m really happy with them i show you on top.
      For sure in Profile B i get more less at the Power and take my Boost, sometimes on -1, when it´s getting really tech. Trails Up & Down.
      Sorry for this, maybe, not really helpful update but i think every Rider is different and also weather getting crazy from hour to hour, so you have to challange yourself and enjoy only the "LOVE THE RIDE" ;)
      Best regards,
      Flo ;)

    I dont see how or whys its necessary for the speed/torque sensor to go out of calibration. None of the other systems need to do that??

    • @_S13_
      @_S13_ 10 месяцев назад +9

      Thats because the Dyname 4 measures the tension of the chain, whereas other motors usually measure torque on the cranks directly. The chain tension measurement can drift over time due to drivetrain component wear. So every now and then you need to recalibrate the system and you are good to go.
