@Matthew Kealey I have never stated that comics are for kids, I think Marvel superheroes just feel like it's for kids due to the amount of CGI effects and all that shit they have.
I loved it too. I never saw him as villainous. I saw his commander, up above, on the ship, ordering him to retrieve the MERV, as the true villain. Coffee was following orders as a SEAL. He was a jerk to MEM's character, a bit of a misogynist, but he really did develop pressure sickness. When he was self mutilating his arm, the other SEALS with him should have put him in a padded room, or had him sent back up to the surface (if possible). Look at me, talking as though something could have been fixed!
I really enjoyed the Kyle Reese character. Biehn really brought out the "borderline psychotic" side of the character. I'm not insuting the films hero here, but the guy was a bit PTSD. Can't blame the guy really. Friggin machines shooting at him all his life and all. The desperation of the character was lost in Genysis. I am all for the original all the way.
Yeah. You really saw it in the deleted scenes where he flips out at a park. However, I'm glad that they cut that scene...it was too over the top, especially right before the love scene between him and Sarah. The audience would have been like "Why are you kissing that lunatic?" Instead, he played it just right. Tightly wound but always in control.
I saw Genisys in the theater, and I haven't wanted to watch it again since. I haven't even pirated that shit. It would have been better to completely reboot the movie and stay faithful to the canon of the story than to fuck with everything we knew and loved. The Terminator saga ended in 2008 with Bale.
I was thinking the exact same thing.. about how Biehn does such a good job of looking totally carnal and strung out. All thin and muscular, in bum clothing, intense but dissociated look in his eye, like when he's following Sarah at the beginning of the movie.
Aliens and terminator were two of the best action Sci fi films ever made. And I did get the love story from terminator when I was a kid. When Reese died I was sad for him and Sarah. It was heartbreaking to know they wouldn't be together.
5:48 this is why the more I watch T1, the more I appreciate it and Michael perfectly gets it. Often in love stories, we men feel determined to protect the women we love at all costs, it's a feeling most men can identify with and relate to it in classic movies. Unfortunately in these years, studios are too busy making women so tough, independent and away from being "the girlfriend" that it seems a taboo thing to make relationships like they used to be back in the day.
Michael, thank you so much for providing us with such awesome acting performances. Your movies have had a genuine positive effect on so many people. You are an excellent actor and a wonderful human being! Thank You!
he was amazing in that movie. when he was looking into the camera/monitor during his police interview saying ' he'll find her, that's what he does, that's all he does! ' just off the charts great acting. seemed so realistic & genuine.
Biehn is one of the most saddening & disappointing careers of Hollywood. He was good looking, a fine actor and starred in Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, Tombstone & The Rock within 10 years, yet never became a more recognizable name.
It's kind of a good that he didn't, the current of Hollywood is just getting more and more twisted on a sinister level, had if any human being would work there for so long would be in Hell under the sickos that run it. I never want to be a long running Hollywood actor, it's a horrid life to live and will get yah in certain amount of trouble.
Omg...I had such a HUGE crush on him as Kyle Reese when I was a kid. And I find it so sweet that he describes what I take as an example of chivalrous courtly love towards Hamilton during the filming. Makes watching it even more bittersweet.
He should be given an Oscar for his Realism and Pure Survival instincts. This guy caught your attention from the first scene until well... right now. Triple AAA Actor and he deserves at least 3 Oscars. Respect. RH DSD
One of Hollywood's most underrated actors I will never forget the eyes with which he fiercely almost shouted in Sarah Connor's face about who the Terminator was
2:34 ........glad he mentioned this particular stunt. That scene of Reese coming out of time travel and that body slamming onto the ground like a slab of ribs ALWAYS blew me away. I've always thought DAAAAAAAAAAMN that had to hurt whomever done that. You can see his head bounce off that solid ground. Hope they paid that stuntman good cause that shot added so much to the harsh realism of the movie.
It is sad to see so many of my childhood idols/heros get old. They were larger than life in my youth. All us 80's kids are experiencing a bittersweet time when we see our childhood cultural icons age and pass away/fade just like us. Now I know how my Grandparents felt when their "Times" and stars got old and passed away.
The original Terminator movie will always be my favourite out of all of them. I get that the mainstream probably enjoy T2 the most, but to me the original is the perfect Terminator movie. Its a dark, gritty, sci-fi/horror, thriller. Whereas i think T2 is more of a fun, over-the-top action blockbuster, buddy-buddy movie. The Dyson subplot breaks the building tension and pacing in T2, but the original keeps the pacing and tension building because its 100 percent focused on the protagonists desperately trying to stay one step ahead of the Terminator all the way through the movie, and the protagonists are always out matched. But the protagonists in T2 aren't outmatched because they have a Terminator always there protecting them.
Yeah its a cracking film, mate. I was only 14 years old when it came out. God knows how many times I've watched it over the years. Never gets old. Funny how things have changed. Dark Fate is a movie i wouldn't even bother watching. I dont understand the reasoning behind killing off John Connor and replacing him with the Dani Ramos character. Thats just crazy. Hollywood are putting some really dodgy movies out these days. I think politics are ruining movies.
@@SaoirsedohÉireann Definitely. I love that film. To be honest i prefer 80's movies in general compared to modern movies. Its not just a nostalgia thing either, because there definitely have been a few recent movies that i thought were brilliant. 'Upgrade' for instance was a cracking good sci-fi movie. In general though i just seem to find myself enjoying 70's, and 80's sci-fi and horror movies more than the current Hollywood films that we get now.
Yelchin was an awesome younger version of Reese. Looked like him, sounded like him, and he was good in the role. It's just pretty much everything else that sucked. The costumes kinda kicked ass, but yeah, that story and Bale were just...bleh.
Glad to hear some behind the scenes, the stunt (as described @2:05) where Kyle arrives in the present is *totally* crazy to me. I know a lot of people are saying, "what's the big deal, he just dropped onto concrete?", but a *much* smaller fall for me ended with a hip and femur shattered in 4 different locations and a lifetime reminder of what a mistake I'd made. Stunt performers are total badasses as far as I'm concerned, and don't usually get anywhere *near* the recognition they deserve.
Cameroon considered having Biehn play the evil Terminator in T2 (uh...why the heck would Skynet build a cyborg that looks exactly like Kyle Reese???!!) while Arnold was then the hero terminator-role reversal. It would have been interesting but I think it would have been too out there-convoluted-for the audience.

MB seems like a really nice chap, good to see him, I remember seeing The Terminator on Moviedrome on BBC2 (introduced by Alex Cox) circa about 1990/91 for the first time, good memories.
I remember that! I was born in 1981 and the 1st time I saw The Terminator was 87/88 (I think). I remember that particular showing of the movie on BBC2 because I taped it and had it for years. I must have watched that tape at least 100 times :) Moviedrome was great. I was introduced to all sorts of cult classics by that. This is back when the Internet was not as widely used as today and there wasn't really any other way to see movies like The Terminator except when it was released on VHS and you got a loan of it from someone's older brother or sister or whatever.
He's very underrated. I love this guy, Another great movie Navy Seals. Michael Biehn, Arnold, Charlie Sheen Sigourney Weaver and Carl Weathers made the 80's awesome. It may not have been in the top 20 but it's in my top 4 or 5.
Hassan Syed Alien 5 is being written and set to be directed by Neil Blomkamp, and the director have said it himself that his version of Alien 5 will be the true sequel to Alien and Aliens. So I guess the upcoming Alien 5 IS the real Alien 3. I'm assuming Fincher's Alien 3 and god-knows-who's Alien Resurrection are just Ripley's bad cryostasis dream.
Problem is, he went back in time at a young age and died during his visit. So how do you show an older Kyle Reese when he's dead? If he would've been transported back to the future before he died or at least show that, before he died, they would've had a lot of room to play with.

NES 8 bit version
Contra: Aliens, Predator, Rambo
The Guardian Legend: Creature
Metal Gear: Terminator
And without Arni no Gryzor art
Kyle Reese and Dwayne Hicks are the ultimate bad asses of 80's!!
Snake Plissken.
Johnny Ringo, the deadliest pistoleer since Wild Bill!
AMEN TO THAT
Biehn is an actor who way underrated. Guy deserves way more credit.
I was a bit shocked within the first 20 seconds, but after watching it I realised I still love this guy.
"I came across time for you Sarah"
Man tears every time..
That line is so fucking bad on paper, but somehow he made it work. Fair play.
@@nickstone1587 Now that I think about it, yeah... it does sound terrible, but, you know he is a good actor if he makes that work
Back when they made movies for the story. Not these emotionless, cgi saturated sequals they make these days.
Back in the day special effects weren't cutting edge like today so they had to keep the audience drawn in with good story.
TRUE!
@@almostfree9255 Still I would prefer them than the Marvel bullshit they feed us all the time.
@Matthew Kealey I think they are for kids, they are about to present their new transgender chracter:DDD
@Matthew Kealey I have never stated that comics are for kids, I think Marvel superheroes just feel like it's for kids due to the amount of CGI effects and all that shit they have.
Loved his portrayal of a Navy SEAL losing his mind in The Abyss.
I hate how he died though. He just went nuts.
I loved him as a Navy Seal in, "Navy Seals".
My favorite part of that film
How about the SEAL team leader who died in The Rock?
I think he looks fine for his age (59 now in 2015). The only one Reese!
He's one of the most loved actors I've seen. Nothing but love from people in the comments and he deserves it.
This guy is a legend, and my life would be so different without characters like Hicks or Reese!
👏👏👏👏
Like how
I'm 31, The Terminator and Aliens both came out well before I was born, Biehn was always my hero. Great Interview what a top bloke
"Givvveee Meeee Genesisssss!"
Arseneau:
Yeah, and Biehn's always has naturally creepy eyes, so I'm sure that definitely added to the role, lol.
I was thinking the exact same thing.. about how Biehn does such a good job of looking totally carnal and strung out. All thin and muscular, in bum clothing, intense but dissociated look in his eye, like when he's following Sarah at the beginning of the movie.
He still looks good considering that this movie came out 35+ years ago. His portrayal of Kyle Reese was one that has yet to be matched.
PeekaBooo08 he looks way better than Linda Hamilton she looks 20 years older than Mike Biehn.
if you say so.
@@jones2277 damn right I do
What an awesome actor!! His body of work will never be forgotten.
Aliens and terminator were two of the best action Sci fi films ever made. And I did get the love story from terminator when I was a kid. When Reese died I was sad for him and Sarah. It was heartbreaking to know they wouldn't be together.
Sean Shotwell : On top of that, I was disappointed and embittered that his character Hicks did not make it alive into Aliens 3.
5:48 this is why the more I watch T1, the more I appreciate it and Michael perfectly gets it. Often in love stories, we men feel determined to protect the women we love at all costs, it's a feeling most men can identify with and relate to it in classic movies. Unfortunately in these years, studios are too busy making women so tough, independent and away from being "the girlfriend" that it seems a taboo thing to make relationships like they used to be back in the day.
the irony that the leading cause of homicide is husband/boyfriend.
actor now.
because of him.
thx, Mr.Biehn.
Enjoy alcohol and failures
.... and blowing studio execs.
Wow you guys are asswhole
Embis get real jobs
You fuckers are just jealous
Aww when he was talking about Linda Hamilton.
Michael, thank you so much for providing us with such awesome acting performances. Your movies have had a genuine positive effect on so many people. You are an excellent actor and a wonderful human being! Thank You!
What a lovely, decent guy Michael is. Thank you for the memories Sir.
Current Michael Biehn. Awesome. Come back as Hicks!
+PostingPal alien 3 is bullshit bro
+zub c watch it it again and u'll like it
+PostingPal Alien 3 killed him off which was good thing. Alien 3 was miles better than shitty Prometheus.
Matt Jones Hicks' death has been retconned in the video game sequel which is canon.
Paladin Stacker lmfao people talk some shit eh.you are one of them.wtf do you know about making a movie. .fuck all
Does anyone remember Linda Hamilton in Beauty and the Beast with Ron Perlman?
Jeff Ebdy I loved that show as a kid. One of the early genre shows with mythology that expanded over time. It was really cool.
@@RudySolis3rd glad I'm not the only one who remembers it!
I always thought he looked more like a cat than a beast
😆 never knew that was Ron Perlman
@@deadli-us He totally looked like a giant cat.
Our first movie we rented was Terminator (1984) best movie i ever seen at that time..and yes it was on VHS. Classic.
he was amazing in that movie. when he was looking into the camera/monitor during his police interview saying ' he'll find her, that's what he does, that's all he does! ' just off the charts great acting. seemed so realistic & genuine.
Michael Beihn is awesome. He's rugged, realistic and soulful.
Biehn is one of the most saddening & disappointing careers of Hollywood. He was good looking, a fine actor and starred in Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, Tombstone & The Rock within 10 years, yet never became a more recognizable name.
How come nobody ever mentions his role in Navy Seals? Loved that movie as a kid
Well, he was quite the egomaniac.
adam ropp Everybody can't be A list. Go eat some more paint chips.
I love Navy Seals too. I have it on blu-ray. Did you know that Biehn and Charlie Sheen wrote the script for it?
Omg...I had such a HUGE crush on him as Kyle Reese when I was a kid. And I find it so sweet that he describes what I take as an example of chivalrous courtly love towards Hamilton during the filming. Makes watching it even more bittersweet.
Are you Girls?
ME tooooo
Too bad the director was all over that
He should be given an Oscar for his Realism and Pure Survival instincts. This guy caught your attention from the first scene until well... right now. Triple AAA Actor and he deserves at least 3 Oscars. Respect. RH DSD
Kyle Reece is one of the badassest hero characters of all time and so well portrayed, he's a really great actor!
One of Hollywood's most underrated actors
I will never forget the eyes with which he fiercely almost shouted in Sarah Connor's face about who the Terminator was
2:34 ........glad he mentioned this particular stunt.
I actually thought Biehn did that stunt himself. The stuntman has the exact same physique as Biehn.
I hope it took only one take.
I hope it should be one take. Imagine falling horizontally 10 feet five times.
Thanks, Mr. Biehn.
Stay frosty!
Its really mindboggling today to hear that a great movie, and true scifi classic like The Terminator wasn't even in the top 20 of 1984!
seattwa It didn't explode until it hit video then HBO around 86.
When he yelled in the camera...wow. That was such a great moment in that movie.
What a legend! Kyle Reese, Hicks or Johnny Ringo.....he owned those characters! Totally unforgettable performances all!!!
my favorite actor since I was a kid and still is.. always and forever. M.B
This guy should've been one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, such a shame his career never took off like it could've
Al Stone 45 movies isn’t enough for you?
Al Stone he had problems with directors as was difficult to work with and was an alcoholic for years which didn’t help his career. He was egotistical
Watching him now and re-watchin TheTerminator really makes me sad of all the time passed away and the old age he reached 😭😭
Same bro i love T1 the most
Yeah its a cracking film, mate.
T1 remains one of my favorite movies. I had a copy on VHS and I wore that tape out!
It really was groundbreaking
@@SaoirsedohÉireann
Definitely.
Now this the True Kyle Reese I remember not that cheesy bullshit fake 1 in Terminator Genesis or Salvation.
christian bale is good in terminator 4, but nobody replace micheal beihn
Yelchin was an awesome younger version of Reese. Looked like him, sounded like him, and he was good in the role. It's just pretty much everything else that sucked. The costumes kinda kicked ass, but yeah, that story and Bale were just...bleh.
Yelchin was awesome as reese wtf
Got the part & then slayed it.
T1 is still very watchable today, it's aged fantastically.
Michael was my hero, when I first saw the T1.
why did they never cast this man to play John Connor in the future is beyond me, perfect actor for this role.
He was already Connor's father! How in hell he was gonna play Connor himself?
Cameroon considered having Biehn play the evil Terminator in T2 (uh...why the heck would Skynet build a cyborg that looks exactly like Kyle Reese???!!) while Arnold was then the hero terminator-role reversal. It would have been interesting but I think it would have been too out there-convoluted-for the audience.
"Then why am I talking to you? Who's in authority here?! SHUT UP!!!"
"You must be Ringo..Look darling.. Johnny Ringo: the deadliest pistoleer since wild Bill they say"
You're no Daisy at all!!!
Evidently, Mr Ringo is an educated man. Now I really hate him.
I beg to differ sir, we started a game we never got to finish
"I'm your huckleberry!"😉
You were just too high strung... I'm afraid the string was too much for him to bare.

I must have watched that tape at least 100 times :)
Moviedrome was great.
Come back as Hicks, Michael Biehn!
Sylvester Scw Alien 3 is a classic, really great movie, but everything after that was a disaster including Prometheus and Alien Covenant.
spearPYN Yes! Prometheus was horrible and so was covenant.
Probably one of the few actors who played all their roles perfectly!
Such a great and sympathetic actor.
Legendary actor..
It's not just "come with me if you wanna live" that does it for that line; it's "c'mon!!!" after that as well.
from what movie is ur avatar pic ?
Courage Under Fire. Ending scene. Masterfully done and indelible.
thx a lot !
He still could play Kyle Reese in Terminator Genesys
CrueL54 Hi 54.. You deserve a house, for free. (I'll reference whatever facet of your existence, that you desire.)
Problem is, he went back in time at a young age and died during his visit. So how do you show an older Kyle Reese when he's dead? If he would've been transported back to the future before he died or at least show that, before he died, they would've had a lot of room to play with.
DirtyHarry G he died before he born so basically its a time paradox
Eat right and exercise for 6 mths then he would look great.
It isn't a paradox. Nothing that Reese does imperils his own future birth. It's a loop, but a consistent one.
Very underated actor. Aliens was amazing!
“I cannot give that order!”
Not the Terminator but that line is stuck in my head LOL
Stand fast!
The rock🤙🏻
Hands down one of the best and convincing actor in becoming a Navy Seal,Marine and soldier. Your the best and God bless.
Yep he has just something about him that suits those roles. Tough and disciplined, but no bravado
Respect to the original Kyle Reese and of course the badman Hicks !!
"screaming at the wall" scene is no doubt a great scene.
I could seriously listen to Biehn talk about films all day. Such an underrated actor
He is rocking the Jack Torrence from the Shining look.
Loved The Terminator movies! The first one is still my favorite. BIEHN and Linda had great chemistry on this movie. Arnold of course reigned supreme as the Terminator!
