Well, English isn't my mother language either... but, to my understanding, a pleonasm is a sufficient but not necessary condition for an 'error'. Since a pleonasm is a rhetorical figure, the author has the possibility to use a pleonasm to put emphasis on the message he/she wants to convey. This figure may be redundant on a semantic level, but change the way we as listeners understand the message.

EmptyKingdoms Lets look at our sentence (or part sentence) then. You wrote "its a tad bit fast". As wystanhugh pointed out, it is indeed a pleonasm. A pleonasm is a redundant figure on semantic level, because there is no new information to be gathered with the added word. Now, this doesn't mean that what you wrote is wrong, because you could argue that "its a bit fast" and "its a tad bit fast" have a (slightly) different meaning: if you had written "its a bit fast" it maybe would have been understood by some readers as pretentious or "phony" as Holden might say ;). As you seem like a nice guy/girl you probably didn't wanted to have that meaning, thus adding "tad" to smaller your criticism since your main message was that you like this slight rushed feeling.

Franz Schubert escribió durante el que sería su último año de vida una de sus obras más populares: la Ständchen (Serenata) D. 957. Aunque muy difundida en diversas versiones orquestales, la Serenata en su orígen fue otro lied que el compositor creó con letra del poeta alemán Ludwig Rellstab.
Escuchada con devoción, conmueve la hondura del sentimiento que Schubert refleja en ella, su belleza y serena melancolía. Schubert quizá presentía su próximo fin, pero no hay amargura ni desesperación, sólo el deseo de encontrar el amor y la paz. A la memoria de P.A.H.Z.
Perdona la ignorancia pero, esta obra es de Franz Liszt o de Schubert ? Me pasa lo mismo con Ave Maria....Creo que en los dos casos son de Shcubert...enfin.. Gracias
