Ozzie smith arguably the best here. Already has to make the diving play, gets a bad hop and reads it well, the barehands it, gets himself up and throws to first. No ones topping that.

As long as it doesn't hit the ground you can catch it any way you want. If you notice all of these catches were made because they couldnt get their glove over in time.

From what I remember its because of the seams of the ball make it more painful. Not taking anything away from cricket players tho, I think both sports have their highlights and separate talents👌🏻

As someone who plays Cricket I don't see why the commentators are so amazed at a catch without a glove on.. Any of the catches in this video are less impressive than any catch in Cricket, as a cricket ball is bigger, harder and we have less time to react at a shot coming at the same speed..

Yes, nearly every catch in cricket is bare-handed, but cricketers still only catch *one* handed about as often as baseball players.
One-handed catches are incredibly common. You'll see at least one an innings, usually more.

Dude, the announcer said "I've never seen that before". The guys job is to watch and commentate baseball. I've seen barehanded catches before. More than a few. My question how someone that gets paid to watch baseball have never seen a barehanded catch. Not sure why I needed to explain that to you.
I've been to well over 500 MLB games and I've never seen one. I don't know why you find it so surprising. Especially since the turn of the century, no one really makes those catches anymore.

You've obviously never touched a MLB ball. Let someone throw it at you at half the normal speed (around 40 MPH) and you have a go at catching that thing barehanded... tough guy.

For one you do need to mention that through spin baseballs are harder to catch. Not only that but fielders need to catch balls more regularly than in cricket. Thats why a wicket keeper wears a glove too.

As someone who plays Cricket I don't see why the commentators are so amazed at a catch without a glove on.. Any of the catches in this video are less impressive than any catch in Cricket, as a cricket ball is bigger, harder and we have less time to react at a shot coming at the same speed..
