Looks like maybe you have tweo accounts unless two Karl's joined in a day! If the other one is you thank you. Make sure to ask for help under the account registered as Channel Member so Shane doesn't miss you. Thanks Karl.

Excellent points. Engineers who put these things together aren't doing much more than reading tables for torque limits. So, if you're close, there has to be an error somewhere, perhaps even in a later decision to use a weaker bolt.

Recent Polaris Ranger models have a wheel stud torque of either 75 or 90 Lb Ft (depending on model). Some of the OWNERS manuals though, list it at 120. We had a customer split and destroy 3 brand new aftermarket wheels, by following that. Why he waited until the 3rd wheel exploded before sensing the the torque # might be wrong, I'll never know. Shane is absolutely correct. Don't be afraid to question the content of service publications, especially those from the aftermarket. They're often written by literary types, not engineers or even techs.

Kawasaki kz1000 engines had a misprint on their cam cap bolts as well. In both the factory manual and the Clymer manual.

It was cam caps not the cam cover.

Haynes has some bad torque specs. It says 2Nm for my cowl screws. Official Triumph manual says 1Nm. Following the Haynes torque spec destroyed the well nuts and stripped the screw.
