Now when I walk in the door, I have this overwhelming urge to sing to everyone, HALO EVERYBODY HALO.

I don't know what is is about these commercials of 1950-1960s. They just make me feel...happy. Unlike todays which have little or no substance in them.

I am sure more people would love to see this commercial if they were alerted that Angie Dickinson was in it.

The "Halo" jingle, written by Joe Rines for Colgate-Palmolive, was first introduced around 1946. People were still singing it in December 1954.

Now that I look at this woman, I can recognize that she IS Angie Dickinson.
My mother (age 90) overheard me listening to this commercial just now and commented that she "loved" Halo Shampoo back in the '50s, because it really did do these good things for her hair.

That hairdo, though. Stuck somewhere between the war and the real world.

@gvt2u Guess her long term use of Halo damaged her hair, that and all the dye.

@willieneal57 yeah, I remember those "glass" shampoo bottles. When I was about 5 I was running with a glass bottle of Breck shampoo. I tripped, used my hands to cushion my fall and slammed a glass Breck bottle. All the shards went inyo my hand, sliced my thumb open....what a mess. A neighbor who was a doctor drove me to the emergency room in his brand new 1960 (jet black) thunderbird. Those glass bottles were a "real bad" idea

No, letting a five year old run around while carrying a glass bottle was a bad idea.

He might have done it without his parents' knowing. Can't lock up the whole house, especially back in the fifties. Plastic has revolutionized how we live.
