Unco Casey yes, the tuner who tuned my car was all about driveabilty and running well in all circumstances. He has told others in the past to get someone else to tune if they only wanted a high number. That's why i chose him over others.
At first I was like “21 minute? That’s a long video” 21 minutes later “WHAT?! DONE ALREADY?! Felt like 5 minutes” Great video as always guys. Looking forward to the next one.
Howard is a legitimate fan, Jermaine a legitimate tuner. Your calipers look great too. I luckily had mine re-done due to the crappy faded red lol This was such an awesome video. If you guys ever travel to Virginia beach, it would be an honor to meet you guys! Cheers!
Now you're seriously having me look into protuning my WRX and taking it to the next level. I really want to see just how smooth a protuned car feels vs an OTS map. This 21 minute video felt like it went by in 5. That's how zoned in I was to this awesome content you guys consistently put out. Felt like I was working on the build right along side you. Can't wait for the next part of this series.
Definitely research your tuner options before you jump into anything, but I'm a huge fan of protunes. If you're in the NOVA area, can't recommend Jermaine and TurboXS enough.
Good stuff. Fellow evo 9 owner here. You look like a tallish guy, I recommend getting the binary seat brackets. They are a cheap and easy mod that will make a world of difference for the driving position. 👍🏻 Also grimspeed has a brake cylinder brace that will help the natural squish in the pedal. It makes a bigger difference than stainless lines or pads...highly recommend it as the feel of the brembos from factory leaves more to be desired, especially when you compare them to a European Car. Keep the videos coming!
I just installed the binary seat brackets as well. I'm 6'3" so having a lower seat position made a world of difference The driving experience totally changed.
Everything is a learning experience, even making build videos. The end results were good on both the video and the tune. As long as you are happy with both the video and the tune, it is a win. Keep up the good work, and thank you for doing what you do.
I don't usually comment on videos but I had to after watching this one.. I cannot express how entertaining your videos are for me, everything about them! The Content. The Filming. The Editing! It's just a step above the rest, keep doing what you're doing guys :D
Awesome build series and I can't wait to see how yours turns out! I too have a Wicked White Evo IX MR except mine's been in the shop for a while for new internals. Love the channel and keep up the great work.
Awesome video. Your journey was so fun to watch and the spark plug segment was so funny. Go the 4G63, your first hand experiece on how easy it is to extract some extra ponies from these motors, must be so fun to drive now.
No need to apologise at all for the video being a bit sporadic, very enjoyable to watch. Refreshing to see someone that isn't only concerned with power figures in the Evo community
Congrats on the great tune:) The EVO9 MR looks amazing with the blue Brembo brakes and JDM rear bumper !!! Currently I have 2017 Frozen White Focus RS and I agree the blue brakes contrast great on white car and rear valance makes rear end look more aggressive.
Love this series. Something a lil different than your norm. As always, production was on point. I swear you guys could teach the big dogs some things on production and cinematic quality.
I'm amazed.. I love race cars myself but I salute you for fixing some parts all by yourself.. I've always wanted an EVO and I think I'll buy one rather than the new Honda civic Type R.. It's nice for you knowing someone like Howard who has almost everything for EVOs. And of course a great tuner like Jermaine.. Great video!
Coming soon will be 2 piece rotors from DBA and new pads from Hawk! Also some sexy bracing, a new Koyo radiator, GarageLine wheel spacers, and that new front lip!
This is awesome guys!!! I'm trying to figure out if I should tune my m3 and this video made me really want to. Hopefully once I get everything fixed that needs to be fixed then I can do that.
I just recently stumbled into your channel within the last 2 months and I love the quality of your videos and that you have a very humble approach. We all want to make progress, so I'm happy for you! Keep pumping out really cool content. I have an idea for a video➡ why is there so much hate in the car scene and yet so much love between bikers? My brother asked me once and I had no real answer. Seems like most bikers give each other the peace sign and lots of car enthusiasts are not so nice 😂
Had a 2006 Evo IX MR, also in Wicked White. Really loved that car, and sometimes regret that I sold her. Had her for 6 years though, and only had a little over 13 thousand miles on her, so I really wasn't driving her much. Still get the itch to drive her again from time to time though. 🙂 By the way, I believe it was found that the Evo IXs were underrated from the factory, so I'm not really surprised you made the power you did right from the get go.
I love your car although I'm more into american muscle and cubic inches. Looking forward to see the rest of the build series. Can't wait to see progress on the Subaru wagon btw.
I'd just like to point out, lets notice how much better this build series is than anything motortrend has put out in the last good while. That stupid Mustang build is a trash series. This is real stuff. As always, keep up the good work Bens.
Awesome video! I'm guessing you were expecting less power partially due to your conversations with me at Gridlife. But it all comes down to the dyno itself as to how comparable those numbers are. Cars on a Dynapak will make at least 8% more horsepower than a Dynojet, and the Dynojet will read 12% more than the Mustang dyno I was tuned on. So to compare numbers with a little bit of ricer math, you're probably right around that 285 mark you expected if you do a run on a Mustang dyno. It's good progress nonetheless, can't wait to see this car developed further!
Better not turn the boost up too high or you may just enter... the DANGERZOOONE
+Dariune okay, you're getting pinned
Gears and Gasoline how much hp
I like a tuner that is more concerned with how it runs more than hitting a specific number.
maxxjett films fucking truth. And drivability, you don't want a car that makes 1000hp but stalls out at anything under 2k rpm.
Unco Casey yes, the tuner who tuned my car was all about driveabilty and running well in all circumstances. He has told others in the past to get someone else to tune if they only wanted a high number. That's why i chose him over others.
maxxjett films yeah my boss is like that. I wouldn't want my car tuned to any other way
Exactly. It's so easy to just achieve a number for bragging purposes, but usability was my main concern. Jermaine nailed it.
Why?
The whole spark plugs segment is hillarious
very humbling

OTS maps are trash, go get a protune as soon as possible. Where do you stay?
Find a good tuner and get off of the OTS Tune ASAP.
make any progress on the wrx?
@@windowlicker4723 Priorities changed, still rocking an E30 MAPerformance map.
I seriously need to meet Howard The Evo Guru, this guys sounds like he has endless stories !
Tabarnacos2 true word
Lana’s so pretty!

the video quality is incredible
The only videos on RUclips that I don’t skip, love the video.
Wow, excellent video. I didn't want it to end haha.
Jermain's the man.
That JDM rear bumper looks amazing, that's how an Evo is supposed to look.
You guys deserve so much more view time. This channel makes me really happy, and remember why I love cars.
So glad you did the jdm rear bumper. Looks great. Love your channel 👌
I love when Gears&Gasoline posts never disappoints the quality of these videos
That OG Howard with the mitsubishi collection, woaah ! i would love to visit his garage .
Everything is a learning experience, even making build videos. The end results were good on both the video and the tune. As long as you are happy with both the video and the tune, it is a win. Keep up the good work, and thank you for doing what you do.
These videos are so light hearted and have a great mood to them. I don't know how you manage that but it's awesome
I don't usually comment on videos but I had to after watching this one.. I cannot express how entertaining your videos are for me, everything about them! The Content. The Filming. The Editing! It's just a step above the rest, keep doing what you're doing guys :D
Very stout numbers! That new bumper makes a huge difference! Glad you are happy with her now!
I'm so happy that you are starting a build series on the Evo!
The og car guys always have the best stories
Awesome build series and I can't wait to see how yours turns out! I too have a Wicked White Evo IX MR except mine's been in the shop for a while for new internals. Love the channel and keep up the great work.
Hope we get to see Howard again in the future, he just radiates so much joy. Jermaine is a tuning wizard, cool to see how much work goes into it.
Great to see how happy this car makes you. That's what this is all about. Congrats, man.
Awesome video. Your journey was so fun to watch and the spark plug segment was so funny. Go the 4G63, your first hand experiece on how easy it is to extract some extra ponies from these motors, must be so fun to drive now.
Loved the video and build! Evo MR in White is sooooo clean, and putting down great numbers! Well done mate!
Sweet, another Evo build! Love white Evos with JDM rears
It's a must-do mod for a CT9A
RESPECT TO YOUR TUNER!!!
love your videos man! this really helps me out on my EVO IX as well! My Brembo needs love haha
Awesome videos, both of you guys. I had an Evo 8 in high school. Your RUclips series makes me want to go find another one!
Cool video. It's great when we are lucky to find a dedicated tuner that actually knows what he's doing :)
I have an 06 Aspen White STI, so I play favorites, but dang that Evo looks beautiful. Hope to see more videos on Lana.
No need to apologise at all for the video being a bit sporadic, very enjoyable to watch. Refreshing to see someone that isn't only concerned with power figures in the Evo community
She looks beautiful, subtle touches like blue calipers looks so good.
Great video, can’t wait to watch more and see the transition of Laana.
Finally some evo vids! been waiting! imo next step is cams that what really transformed my car before i got a bigger turbo :)
Looks like a great start to a great build series can't wait to see more!

Sorry I had to. Btw I love the car.

Pure motivation from this car!! Keep it up and absolutely love the footage
Fantastic film. Can't wait for Pt. 2

Great video, hoping to get my car post winter, to see what numbers the e-tune is putting down.

Love your Car a Lot bro . Love lana .
with brembos you need to turn the car on to get true pressure in the pedal after bleeding. Same thing happened to my brembos
12:40 Is that a 22B behind you? The white car. 13:36 The car on the left of the Mustang. Or is it a GC8?
