Funnily enough, I too shaved with cold water this evening. Feels good! I was worried that I would have felt some tugging, but the shave butter I use remained slick throughout each pass. Gotta do this more often.
this is my first summer as a self proclaimed wetshaver, this ice idea sounds amazing living in a desert, hitting the 110s already, my face is gonna love it! great vid and cheers for the advice!!
It really did feel great! I thought it was a silly idea until I tried it. Using ice and leaving the razor sitting in the ice water before the shave was so nice.
As always, a pleasure to watch you on the tube. I learned shaving that I prefer keeping the water cool over hot. It just glides over the skin better. BTW I'm at the home of the NBA champion Toronto Raptors.
I had a fatboy revamped at Razor Emporium, and they did an excellent job it looks great, but it doesn't shave the same as before. I just came across an individual selling 2 Slim adjustables and 1 fat handle tech. Cleaned and disinfected all three. Tried the Slim tonight and what an incredible shave. Dont think I'll send it in to be revamped.
Hello from Antalya Turkey. Cold water shaving is the way to go for me. I have been doing it for over 7 months now and there is no irritation at all. Yes we do have Fathers Day on the same date.
Cold water shave has seriously been magic for me. Hot water softens your beard hair, but it also causes your skin to swell & more blood to rush to the area & stay there for quite a while. I shower, clean up, then end the shower with cold water to close off the poors. Feels great on the hair & face. Then, I prep for shave with not extremely cold water but cold enough. So, your beard hair will still be soft. But your skin won't swell with too much blood. So if you do nick yourself, it won't bleed as much as it would with straight hot water. It is also helps close off any nicks way better & also helps razor bumps be less likely to show up!
@Emmanuel Goldstein No, more like softens the dirt or debris on that layer of skin. However, still causes more blood to rush to the area and makes the skin swell with hot water. Cold water will not do that and will help prevent bumps more than hot water will.
@Emmanuel Goldstein Did you also take into account that each person has different facial features, hair growth patterns, some have less and some have more hair? Some have more fat around their face than some others? There is a lot that goes into what works for you but that doesn't mean it will work for others.
@Emmanuel Goldstein Again, that blade may not work for others the way it works for you. I use Astra Greens and they work fine for me, my younger brother uses Wilkinson Swords and they work fine for him. But, not for me. Same with my Astra greens, they don't work for him. Depends.
I use a van der hagen safety razor & it don't shave really well if I use cold water. Hot water is a different story. I get a real smooth shave from it.
I have an idea how you can keep everyone happy! I'm always thinking... Do a giveaway of the revamped Fat Boy to Europeans... For North American followers - we can come to your place (by appointment of course) and you shave us with your Rockwell. Everyone is happy!
Nothing better than a super menthol shave in the summer. Summer hasn't arrived in Niagara but I've been to Texas before so I know you're dealing with a mighty hot one there today.
Father's day was in March 19th here in Portugal. Cold shaving in hot days is the best but never tried to add ice cubes in water. Maybe I'll try in the next hot days. About the Fatboy if you really go forward gifting someone, I think you should include also your US subs and no one will be mad with you. :) Cheers from Portugal and great video as always.
I think I'm gonna try cold water shaves in the morning before work or after work lol. I just did a quick test 2 pass on cheeks and 1 on the neck and face is comfortable. I've done it before and was not a fan. But I've recently fix my angle of attack to 30 degrees perpendicular top cap against skin or both the guard and cap are touching skin. Asking different shavers out there if that that is the best way to find the most effective angle without scraping?
Cold water shaves are my go to during the summer...cold shower, cold shave, and glacial Margaritas in the Arctic. The only times I feel chilly during the summer...Bliss. I'd like to contact you directly if possible. If there is any way to do so could you please tell how..Thanks.
Just checked on eBay UK, for Fatboy razors, no UK sellers mostly if not all are from the USA, one seller wanted over £200+£20 shipping if I keep this hobby up, it would be cheaper if I emigrated to the USA, then again I would miss the rain, cold weather, the chaos of brexit lol, all the best mate.
I can't even find Barbasol in my country and I guess I can only order from UK not sure but guess it's the only country in Europe that we can buy it online.
So hear me out on this. I've had a Gillette fatboy for months and have always shaved with it on a 5 setting. I just scored one today for $2 and I cleaned it all up and gave it a shave. On a 5 setting of course and I just felt that this razor was incredibly more aggressive. It feels similar to the same scenario you're explaining to the one you sent to razor emporium. Could fatboys vary in aggressiveness. The milder one is a serial number G3 and the more aggressive one is an E4. I'm curious to everyones opinions because I am baffled.
That’s fascinating. Maybe we’re learning some secrets of the FatBoy. It stands to reason that the manufacturing process back then wouldn’t be as precise as it is today and there might be some human elements involved when they were put together that might explain the differences. Good research!
I’m from the UK but I think you should offer a giveaway to all your viewers no matter where they are from, after all whether you”re from America - Antarctica we are all brothers of the blade! Florida water is great stuff, never heard of it until I saw your video’s but really glad I tried it, unfortunately it cost me 14 dollars in the uk ouch!
Ouch! For that price, I hope that the Florida Water brings you a lot of good luck. Yeah, I’ll probably give it away to everyone and hope that an international viewer wins it.
Yup, it will be the worst thing ever, hyper mentholated. So you might die, lol. 😂 At least make your eyes run, it did for me, but it is a glycerin soap, so it might be hard to lather. Search you tube yeti snot. 👌👍

Glad you’re here! I think it’s always better to shave with a safety razor rather than a cartridge razor. You don’t have to do much prep. Just some hot water on your neck, some shaving cream and the razor. Maybe you’ll like it!
Safety Razors don't do the clog and trash that cartridge razors do. Open the razor slightly, wash out under running water and close it. Then it's back to shaving.
@@SinatraLennon as it so happens I premiered my first safety razor shave today. A German razor, a Merkur 34c (also called HD). It was probably my slowest and most careful shave ever... Close, but no bloodshed! 😉
Interesting about the Florida Water. That does possibly explain why Lucille Ball may have mentioned it on her deathbed (though I always wonder about the accuracy of these kinds of "last words" stories, especially regarding celebrities)--it would be strange to mention an aftershave, but not if it had all of that folk/religious significance.
Have a nice Sunday, Sinatra. As for your question about Mother's Day, is the third Sunday of October over here in Argentina. If you are going to go at the new fatboy with a pair of pliers, do make sure to use a thick cloth for it. I had to go at my Super Speed when I first got it, didn't use enough padding and got a mark on it. Also I have a question for you, this is my second week shaving with a DE Safety Razor, and I have been having problems with the neck area. I ALWAYS (Well, sort of, when I try to get anywhere near a close shave there) get an angry rash on it afterward. And it doesn't seem to matter what angle I go for, and I am shaving once every other day to give it some rest. Think it's a technique thing? a blade thing? a razor thing? or do you think it is just a matter of the skin needing to get used to it? It is a Super Speed Flare Tip with Gillette 7 o clock super platinum (The black package). It makes no difference whether the blade is new or had some shaves under it's belt.
You know, it may just be he skin on your neck! I know that mine gets irritated if I try too many passes and I get most of my nicks there. Neck skin is a peculiar thickness and texture sometimes. Do like me and accept that your neck is just gonna have some stubble. It’s better than razor burn!
I think it's a general problem area with all, the neck... More passes, more irritation skin and razor burn. Try to figure out where the hair grows and go against the grain two, three times max. More than this and the skin will scream to stop doing that.
Thing is, I go against the grain at least once, with as light a touch as I can, and almost immediately it gets aggravated. Specially on the center part of the neck, below the chin. The sides tend to be much more agreeable it seems. I'll see to practice going across the grain in that area next time to see if that does anything. It is just hard for me to accept having acceptable shaves on the sides of my neck, and then have a hairbrush on the center.
@@Vanadse Technic also counts a lot and with the time you'll improve your skills in the neck area and I believe you find out sooner or later the best way to shave your neck. I do one pass with the grain, second across, third against and sometimes I'll go one more time against and with some blades/razors the 4th pass (only in some neck areas), is guaranteed that I've some razor burn.
That's the razor I started with. It does pretty well but I like my adjustable Q shave a lot better and that's only $20 on Amazon or like $12 on aliexpress

If you win the Fatboy you're gonna love it. Here in the States, I recently found a 1955 Gillette Super Speed at a flea market for $5 USD. (Practically free.) Darn thing gives me a shave as good, maybe even slightly better, as my daily driver Merkur 37C slant. And the Super Speed isn't even adjustable. Good luck!
If and when I do give one of these FatBoys away, I wish you good luck and the opportunity to try one out. I love the #don’ttellthewife I do the same thing with guitars!
You should respect all your viewers no matter where they're from (not saying you don't, but I think some RUclipsrs forget they have international viewers.) I'm American but I vote to give the Fatboy to a European.
Will you do a video for me shave with Gillette pure and shave with a razor that was invented by bret Favre the football player it's called a tough razor but I like to see you use a badger brush and squirt some of that shave gel into the wet brush that I recommend and use a very very hot towel hold to ur face for 40 seconds at least can you do a video like that
That doesn't make any sense, how could your revamped Fat Boy be milder than your old grungy one, especially at the higher settings? If the adjustment trays are moving when changing the setting of the blade gap then they should be exactly the same.
I don't think you should be too fearful of doing giveaways. Adults are the only ones who shave and they should act as such and accept when they don't get what they want.

Finally, did you ever tried a Mu(e)hle R41? If you are looking for an uncompromising razor the R41 seems pretty well suited for you... give it a try. But pls act carefully 😉
Greetings from Germany!
Good luck!
@@nicetna2010 5 bucks? Obviously the seller did not know what he was sellling😂. What a great bargain. Congratulation🖒
@@G_from_G Thx. Hopefully SL will choose you for the Fatboy.
@@nicetna2010 👍 Greetings from Germany!
If and when I do give one of these FatBoys away, I wish you good luck and the opportunity to try one out. I love the #don’ttellthewife I do the same thing with guitars!
Love Florida Water, great stuff. Also, I really should try some Osage Rub now our hot weather is here for the season.
Have you not tried The Rub? You might like it. It is definitely unique.
Nope, not yet.
hey grandma Lennon
Ha! She’ll see this, I’m sure.
OSAGE HAMMER 🤪
Been waiting for this Sinatra cold shave for ages!
And it was worth the wait!
3:03 looks like he got a little phased by the menthol.
I probably did!
You should respect all your viewers no matter where they're from (not saying you don't, but I think some RUclipsrs forget they have international viewers.) I'm American but I vote to give the Fatboy to a European.
I’d never forget my international viewers! They’re some of the best ones out there. I like your thinking.
All hail the hammer
Respect the Hammer. Fear the Hammer. Hammer don’t hurt ‘em!
What are we gonna do now?
What-a-burger sold, and Schlitterbahn as well!
The end of the world is upon us!
Next is HEB and then have all the people from the south take over your home.....
I know! Traitors!! 😝
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
How can you shave everyday without your skin being irritated?
Morty the safety razor
My skin is tough and the safety razor is a great shaving tool.
SinatraLennon so happy to get a reply from you 😂 big fan of your channel you’re the reason I now shave with a safety razor
Well, I’m glad that you’re here and that I could inspire you to try this kind of shaving out! What kind of razor do you use?
SinatraLennon just a cheap amazon safety razor at the moment looking to get something vintage and cooler in the near future
sweden - 11 november
Will you do a video for me shave with Gillette pure and shave with a razor that was invented by bret Favre the football player it's called a tough razor but I like to see you use a badger brush and squirt some of that shave gel into the wet brush that I recommend and use a very very hot towel hold to ur face for 40 seconds at least can you do a video like that
The razor has 3 blades
Can’t wait to move to Cali and escape the NJ cold !
Are you going out there?
Yes once I gain enough job experience in my field and get my fiancé settled into the states (she’s in Egypt atm)
I luv u very very very much
Thanks, Saima!
@@SinatraLennon wlcm dear
Nice haircut Sinatra cool look on you go get a cold shower ok have a nice day im Jeffrey
Hi Jeffrey!
That doesn't make any sense, how could your revamped Fat Boy be milder than your old grungy one, especially at the higher settings?
If the adjustment trays are moving when changing the setting of the blade gap then they should be exactly the same.
I know! It could just be a difference in the manufacturing. Not really sure. It looks pretty, though!
@@SinatraLennon Or it could just be you, complications from brain freeze from ice water shaving. 🥶
Ray R You May be right! 😂
I don't think you should be too fearful of doing giveaways. Adults are the only ones who shave and they should act as such and accept when they don't get what they want.
This is the best advice and comment I’ve read so far. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders and I’m glad that you’re here.
@@SinatraLennon Thank you. I think at the end of the day you've made someone happy by giving them a gift, and that's what should be taken from it. c:
3rd!!
You have a hairy chest. I feel like getting a comb and combing the hair.
I am not gay. Am I weird? Maybe.
To each his or her own I guess!
