Fennecs sleep 75% of the time, and are hyperactive the other 25%.
Since fennecs are nocturnal they like sleeping during the day and make lots and lots of noise during the night with playing, digging in everything, jumping and running.
Keeping a fennec free in the house or let it have its own room is far better than keeping it in a cage. This applies to the nights as well if you would like to sleep.

It's interesting, not a domesticated animal, and in the wild would be constantly looking for food and avoiding predators. Take that need away and he just wants to play. Lovely boy.

Not quite, I'd rather say, the tail is much more pretty than that of any dog. This one is a real sandfox which ended up to be sold to westeners cause he has been caught trying to bite wholes into saddlebags when he was too lazy for hunting... When the Berbers woke up because of his lack of discipline, he was punished by being sold into slavery...
That's the only way he was able to pay for a new saddlebag...
BTW, others are even more unlucky, cause if they are catched in flagranti being grown up, as they are halal, they end up their short life being served from the grill in harissa with tajine on couscous...

I noticed at this point... about 12 weeks old... he has fully formed genitalia... as a male, does he mark and scent territory? Also thank you for these great videos, and for caring about and for your animal so well.

BTW, here's an answer to a part of what intrigues you:
Fully formed, yes, but not yet grown up, that's a difference! Wait until you become a mother of a lil boy yourself and you will understand what I mean when you have to change the loaded dumpers, you'll see, that also a human baby-boy (I have 2 of them grown up now, I know it's not a singular effect, it's the regular not-virtual real life on a daily base) has what he needs "fully formed" and even able to whip up and down to pee into your face if you opened the dumper too early... ;-)
(Please be aware that this sounds like a joke, but it's far away from it, that's not at all a joke, it's a warning for unexperienced young women! That's the reality of the daily risks of the courageous mission, that young mothers of lil boys have to fulfill on their daily duty! Honor to my mom and her sister who also suffered from it while changing my dumper... ;-))
Now back to the lil sandfox:
An average fennec will be grown up in the sense of Genesis 1, 28 in between 9 & 12 months, depending on how many hopping mice and scorpions he'll catch in this time. Cause round about after 2 or 3 months his vicked mom-vixen will not allow him any more to suck her milk, so he'll be forced to find some scorpions, hopping mice and so on, to go on growing. (Don't bother, mommy has teached him how to hopp around a scorpion until he looses the orientation and then how to bite of his poisondarttail and she also has teached him which size of holes contain the yummy hopping mice...)
The lazy ones prefer to bit wholes into the saddlebags of berbers and arabs and feed from their provisions, but they unfortunately are unaware of being halal & that highly endangers them because if you are halal and too noisy at the same time and the nomads wake up inmidst of the festivities, you'll finish your life as a mechoui on a coal fire, served with harissa and tajine and couscous...
But even when the hunting results are not as good as they should, latest on his first birthday a fennec is more or less corresponding to a young man at the age of 16 and has reached his best weddingage.
Usually he'll also find easily a young vicked vixen to invite to his first birthday party and some weeks later he's already a daddy...
These lil guys are not only fast in hunting (they absolutely need to, cause if you are not quicker than the scorpion, how do you wanna bite of his poisondarted tail before dinner?), but also reproducing faster than the meharists can eat them. You could also call it like this:
In hostile surrounding teenagepregnancy is favorable to the survival of the family. ;-)

Hi thank you for asking! Djinn is doing well. Although it's August now, summer has only just started. Djinn is still wearing half his winter coat. Poor thing gets so hot when we try to walk him.
I wasn't able to film much. I've filmed Djinn with the same phone all those years, but about a year ago the main camera died. Couldn't afford and didn't like to get a new since every thing else was still working perfect. Buuuutttt, last week I got a great deal on a new phone which is more camera than phone! So I can now start filming Djinn again. I don't have much time to edit, so I will probably upload less story-like videos. In a few weeks, we'll go to Belgium for a couple of days. So I plan on filming that little trip for Djinn 😊
