in the manga and the Eternal film, the Amazon Trio have much shorter screen time they are animals turned into humans by the Amazoness Quartet and given the job of taking down the Sailor Scouts Sailor Mercury was tricked into purchasing Fish Eye, who was in fish form, from a pet store and nearly drowned in her nightmares before awakening her super sailor scout powers and defeating Fish Eye Tiger Eye trapped Sailor Mars in a hall of mirrors, but she awakened her super sailor scout powers with help from Phobos and Deimos (who are actually aliens from the Planet Koronis that can disguise themselves as crows or take on miniature humanoid forms) and defeats Tiger Eye Hawk Eye approaches Sailor Jupiter and traps her with a cursed ring, but she breaks free and awakens her super sailor scout powers to take him down
This is considered the weakest season of the original anime, but it still has many good scenes. This and the trio's sacrifice are easily top tier SM moments.
Thanks for this clip! I love how Zirconia's cape forms a wrinkly face on the front. I don't really get the idea that the Amazon Trio actually being animals means that they are hollow inside. I mean it's humans who are capable of being truly evil unlike animals like birds, fish or cats.
Because once their needs are met, they are content and have no further desires. Of course, *the flaw in their thinking is that this is what separates them from humans* when in reality there's _many_ who have no higher aspirations than fulfilling a current vice or doing nothing but work. They are looking for the wrong trait this whole time!
Honestly this wasn't that difficult to guess what they actually were. HAWK's eye TIGER's eye and FISH-eye their names tell us exactly what they had been. But it's still rather comical that they had to have it pretty much spelled out for them either way. Plus Tiger's eye's reaction was pretty damn funny too.
I mean, they're also literally (as are many Sailor Moon minor villains) named after types of gems/minerals, or in the case of Fish Eye, a distortion in a gem caused by bad faceting. So, it cuts both ways. Yes, it's identifying what kind of animal they were before the spell, but it also just follows the naming conventions and could've meant a tie to those types of gems.
