This was a proudest day of my life. I never felt so wonderful ever again. I was 17 years old and 3 weeks. I went to boot camp I thought it knew everything I didn't know anything. I can't believe I passed and graduated. So many things that I was able to overcome. My dad showed up we had no communication with the outside world. No phone calls. we got letters that's it. We were never allowed to call home. I never forget it and I'll always cherish that memory. I was so proud and I was in the best shit in my life and I felt wonderful. 🇺🇲✝️🙏

It's great to see our brave cousins across the pond earning the right to be called marines. It's no easy feat. I once remember and celebrates British brigadier commenting on how fantastic the USMC were whilst working together in desert storm 1. Nothing but 100 percent admiration on how these marines conducted themselves. How they wanted to learn and how.much they showed an interest in the bigger picture. There are levels within but even the most die hard manage to adjust just enough to life after in order to function. Do civilians do things different? Sure they do, a store that reads opening at 9 and opens at 905 pisses you, having been waiting there since 845 lol. To answer your question, the Corps today has changed a ton and Im not up to date on dress standards but I can say those D.I.s marching with arm swings of 2 feet to the front and same to the rear is Fn unsat! That is why they say, The Few, The Proud, The Marines. Just remember guys and gals, once you get out of The Marine Corp, drop the kill attitude!!!!!

I left the Island via Parade Deck alias ( The Grinder). Thank God I didn't decide to leave via the swamp. The sharks and the gators will have to stick with their regular diet of swamp chow.

Certainly not the corps of years ago. I was in 87-94. We had a cat in our platoon, 2nd Battalion, F-Company at PI that refused to follow orders.....a regular smart ass. During snap in week at the range he started some crap with one of our DI's. Our 4 DI's took him back to the range barracks we were berthed in. Some time passed and they all came back. However, said recruit was walking a slower, slightly hunched over, head down. We all new there was some "attitude adjustment" given and rightfully so. There was never a problem with him after that. Turned out to be a squared away Marine. Nobody ever challenged him in prior civilian life...Uncle Sam=our DI's saw if differently. Semper Fi to all D-Dogs here!! It is an honor!!!

Wow! The marching commands are vocalized like the Army now. Small things like that gave the Marines a mark of uniqueness or distinction. It’s like back in the Sixties, they lost their combat boots; that had a height to only cover the ankles. Now I hear they’re going to lose their tank support units. Will the Marine Corp switch to Army OD uniforms next?

I see from some of the posts belittling the current crop of Marines and not like the ones of "yesteryear." Well ask the vets and those wounded in Irag and Afghanistan whether they met the standards of "Marines of yesteryear."
