fun fact about Wheatley, his redemption can be found within an unexpected place LEGO Dimensions the Portal level pack, is like an unofficial Portal 3 story wise
Samus didn't kill a space ship. She didn't kill a space ship with her bare hands. She didn't kill a space ship with ONE hand. She killed a space ship as COLLATERAL DAMAGE as she wiped out the last known Chozo warrior with one hand.
Yeah. Samus IS the Metroid now, in both biology and in capabilities: The Ultimate Warrior. I honestly want the next Metroid to be Samus fighting the corrupt parts of the Federation with the help of the larger GOOD parts of it, while also fending off new foes that threaten galactic peace.
@hariman7727 Samus becoming the bounty now that she's theoretically the most powerful being in the galaxy is something I've been literally begging for since dread dropped
A Boss fight that’s Personal is one where the Protagonist is deeply connected with the Antagonist for the most part, and when it comes down to it, that’s when the feelings get real.

Luke vs. Asch is extremely iconic, but I also have to give kudos to the fact that all of the Six God Generals except for arguably Sync count as personal bosses for the protagonists. Spoilers for 10+ year old game ahead Of course we have Luke being a replica of Asch, but Arietta was Anise's former coworker, Legretta was Tear's teacher, Dist was Jade's childhood friend, and Largo was Natalia's biological father. One of the best groups of antagonists in any game, IMO
@@ClefairyRox And van is a personal boss for everyone. Each character has something to say to van before the final confrontation. Adds a lot of weight to any replay of the finale
That was a big one. Asch throwing all his frustrations of everything he lost at Luke, and Luke coming into his own as a man and standing up for himself and the progress he made growing as a person. Even then, Luke doesn't even reach his apex until after Asch kicks it.
Kieran suddenly snapping like that makes me go "He had been at 90 for the longest time. Us showing up and everything that went down in Kitakami pushed him towards 100." *Not* helped by Carmine in the slightest.
"Not helped by Carmine in the slightest." Jerk rivals should elicit a response of "Screw you; see you in the next town." Carmine elicits something more like a desire to give her to Sada's Bane or Turo's Bane as a chew toy.
A few more mentions: 1. Hades from Hades (more daddy issues) 2. Doctor Octavius from Spiderman 3. Phin aka The Tinkerer from Spiderman Miles Morales 4. Manfred Von Karma from Ace Attorney (just got into the series, and it’s so damn addictive) 5. Malefor from TLOS Dawn of the Dragon 6. Zeus from God of War 3 (more daddy issues)
All of those are better than the number one. Because MAN did I learn to hate MGS 4. IT WAS BORING. I PLAYED about 10 hours, but I WATCHED 14 hours of game! I NEEDED BOOZE TO GET THROUGH THE HOUR AND A HALF MOVIE AT THE END. Kojima needs an editor!
Ah Kieran. Someone I went from “Listen, I worry about you.” to “Listen here, you’ve gone too far and I’m here to show you why I’m stronger and to make it more personal, I’m using Ogerpon on my team as well.”
Nishikiyama from Yakuza Kiwami 1 was rough. SPECIFICALLY the Kiwami version, which has the added context of all the things that happened in Yakuza 0, such as the moment when Nishiki tells Kiryu that when Kiryu crosses the line and finally takes a life, Nishiki wants to cross that line together, and then Nishiki proceeds to lose control and not do that in Yakuza Kiwami.
There are 3 other major bosses in the RGG series that could be up for debate: Daisaku Kuze from 0: You fight him five times, and he was the only lieutenant Kiryu respected Takechi Hanpeita from Ishin: Ryoma’s brother figure, who has pulled every string in the shadows to attempt to “reform” Japan. Masato Arakawa in Like a Dragon: Ichiban really looked up to him, and the emotional scenes afterward…
@wonderfulprogress2952 I'd also add fighting our old friend in the boss fight when we're chasing the Korean gang was personal We learn his real reason why he's here and even if he rejoined us the brief betrayal is rough
@@wonderfulprogress2952 Jo Sawashiro as well, though we only learn how personal that fight was after the fact, since Sawashiro was Masato's real father.
Was not expecting to see Kean make a physical appearance when talking about the Liquid Snake entry's reused script, but that's kinda cool. And yeah now that I 100% know what Josh considers a personal boss, Liquid and Handsome Jack well deserved their spots
What I loved so much about Dickson's boss fight is how much of his villainous motivations were driven by fear of the end. It's never something he outright states, but really think about it: when asked why he did all the terrible things he did, he says it was "For power. That's the ONLY reason." but with all of his grandeur and the facade he'd been holding fast to throughout the game (aside from one of the early scenes in Satorl Marsh where he lets his mask slip, creating some BRILLIANT dramatic irony, when he says "Can't say I feel too good about tricking those kids...", which, side note, Dunban caught on to, but didn't outright suspect because they were once brothers-in-arms against the Mechon a year back), you get the sense he's lying, mostly to himself, and in the end, after being delivered a fatal blow from Shulk's & Fiora's combined attack from their respective Monados, he just...quits. He doesn't give them the satisfaction of killing him...he just says "I'm done." and tells them to leave as he sits down and bleeds out, having one last smoke before taking his final breath. He didn't want anyone to see him in his moment of weakness, and Shulk grants him his wish, even with Fiora's protestation of concern: it's a really powerful moment that's often overlooked and shows a respectable moment of humanity from both Shulk AND Fiora. The fact that Dunban, even, had no hesitation in leaving someone he once considered a comrade to die can also be construed in two ways: 1. showing how much respect he once had for the guy in honoring his request to be left to die, or 2. how he simply can't find it in him to forgive Dickson and would rather let him bleed out. I see more the first one, given how Shulk was able to talk him out of "such a lust for revenge" against Mumkhar for his betrayal and genocide of the people of Colony 9 and siding with what was previously the enemy. As an aside, I remember how years back Rabbidluigi said how Dickson's personality shift radically changes his character before and after the first playthrough, and to an extent I agree: once you've seen him for who he truly is, it's hard to deny. But I also implore you can see moments of who he really is shining through, especially in the aforementioned Satorl Marsh scene; he's building Shulk up to bring his master back, sure, but he's also doing it because he feels bad for Shulk having lost his parents to the Monado and genuinely wants to push him to be the very best he can be. It really does make the moment where he betrays Shulk hurt so much; even when you know it's coming...it still hurts...a lot...like...A LOT a lot! O.o
Feels like Ubisoft made Shadows too late. This is after other developers have thrown their hat into a AC like game set in Japan. (We even got Rise of the Ronin this year). By this point, AC is late to the party and will probably be inferior to what we already got. When it was first announced, I pretty much thought "I already have this game Ubisoft, it's called Ghost of Tsushima."
@@CyberkillGames at least with this unlike GoT which was more focused on Samurai shadows will be more focused on ninjas which are literally the assassin's of feudal Japan
Facing someone personal is never easy. You have a long history with them whether good or bad times and you have to find the courage to defeat and overcome them. However even if you do succeed you still wonder was it all worth it? I can think of many bosses that fit this kind of criteria and as usual looking forward to seeing which bosses need the long awaited face off.
yeah its honestly hard to be that mad at him as i think it was mainly the glados body that was turning him agressive and he just didnt have the mental fortitude to resist its darker urges
The Witch Who Forgot Her Name from Labyrinth of Galleria. I'll avoid major spoilers because this is a character you get to know long before she loses her name. Back when she was a child, she was taught a fable about how those who want more in life lose what they already have. She rejected this moral, and rightfully so given her childhood bullies and a death in the family leaving her with so many complexes she became a shut-in as well as managing an underperforming store. But throughout the events of the game, she experiences so many terrible events that she ends up truly embracing that moral, becoming even more isolated from the rest of the world and enforcing the rule that everyone in the world would have ok immortal lives. The final battle isn't only about building a better world, it's also about her last friend trying to convince her that it's not wrong to hope for a better life. In battle, the Nameless Witch (thanks character limits) will start out as a single target with 3 forms but will start summoning giant swords that must also be defeated to win.
Surprised that Zeus isn't here. Given he screwed over Kratos BIG TIME during the Greek pantheon era of God of War. Not to mention that fight also takes place inside Titan Gaia, who also screwed over Kratos.
Kind of wish there was a mention of any Ace Attorney characters. You could make an argument for a lot of them! Edgeworth, Von Karma, Franziska, Godot, Matt Enguarde, Dahlia, Kristoph, the list goes on!
Dahlia would probably be on the list, given that she has connections not only to Phoenix's past but to Mia's as well. And in the end, it is Phoenix and the spirit of Mia who put her away for good, even when she came back from beyond the grave for what she thought would be one final chance to forever ruin Phoenix's life.
Honestly kinda thought that Yuki Terumi from Blazblue might at least get an honorable mention. This is the SOB who murdered the foster mom of Ragna's family, burned down the church they lived in, took Ragna's siblings away, and I'll admit that I am GENUINELY forgetting if he PERSONALLY cut Ragna's arm off or made his BROTHER do that. And that's just how things between them throughout the series STARTS.
He made Jin cut off Ragna’s arm. And the after-effects of that possession conflicting with his Power of Order is what made him so crazy for the first few games.
I'm honestly surprised Hades (From- Hades) didn't even get mentioned. Much like Handsome Jack, Hades is an always present force be it when we see him before the start (or after the end of the run) to when we get the Special Hades Rooms. Then we get to the motives- Zag wants to find out the truth about his mother- but to do so means he needs to escape Hades both the Underworld and the his Father's past decisions. Specifically never telling Persephone that Zagreus was alive after seemingly dying in child birth but through the actions of Nyx was brought back. Hades presents himself and his realm as this inescapable prison and thats why hes stopping Zag as best as he can but in truth he is ashamed of himself for letting him and Persephone drift apart and is worried that if Zag gets to her that she'll hate him or even worse... she'll forgive him and come back. This results in the 'Just Go Ending' where after Beating Hades enough times, the player will just skip the boss fight and proceed into seeing Persephone ultamitly bringing her back to The House. Afterwards- Zag and Hades begin to try and repair there relationship. With Zags actions of breaking out of the underworld now becoming his official Job as a way to test security. And Hades saying 'Though it might be too subtle for your (Zagreus) tastes. Know I will try to be better'
I think one good example of a boss fight that definately is personal is the traitor and black mask boss fights in Persona 5 since it's of a character that is both a long time rival of the protagonist of Persona 5 and has some similiar abilities to them too, plus you REALLY get to see what their true personality is like during those fights too and it just hits so hard too with the music playing especially during the black mask fight. Then again you could also argue that Shido would work too as his boss fight is obviously very personal with everything he caused up to that point and how he affected all of the Phantom Thieves in some way including and especially the traitor. Then again Persona 5 in general has quite a lot of boss fights that are personal like Kamoshida and Madarame or Cognitive Wakeba or of course Sae Nijiima.
Especially Shido's fight in Royal. He literally knocks away all of your party members, turning the fight into a 1v1 between Joker and the man who ruined his life
I would argue the only fight in P5 that isnt Personal is Keneshiro, you ONLY fight him because he is evil and is threatening you. He is the only one with no connection to anyone in the party. Even the final boss Yaldobath was directly guiding and helping you throughout the entire game.
Vergil's change in philosophy came more so from his horror (as V) in seeing what his demon side had become, basically having his own "Wait a minute, Dante... I'M the maniac!" moment and realizing he threw away everything he loved for power, and that his endless quest for it was meaningless. He was affected by the revelation of Nero as his son, make no mistake. His "Nero..." in their fight feels very solemn and melancholy, realizing how he basically made Nero go through what he did: loneliness (though the difference between them is that Nero had Credo and Kyrie during some of his worst moments in his early life (which explains why he's more emotional than Vergil or Dante), while Vergil only had himself and his power since Eva found and protected Dante and died before she could do the same for Vergil). Also, the giant hellish monster at 26:01 is Vergil's demon half, named (by V) as Urizen.
Georg Weissman from Trails in the Sky SC He’s the man who started the 100 days war,Hamel Tragedy,Osborne’s pact with Ishmelga, & turning Loewe & Joshua into weapons. Even after his death his influence still lives on
1: One of the best boss fights in the series. 3: Only fought him in 3, which was a really good fight 7: One of the best characters in Starforce series 10: Have not yet played the DLC Nice list. Some personal bosses I really like are Kazuya vs Jin or Heihachi (I think the fight in Tekken 7 gets points for being more personal, but the one in 8 is better), Julius from Tales of Xillia 2 (this is a boss fight in which I cried) or Asch from Tales of the Abyss, The final boss in Rain Code Master Detective Archives (please play the game, it´s great), Doctor Octopus in Spiderman or Miles vs Bully Lowenthal in Spiderman 2, Phoenix vs Godot (great way to end the triogy), Aigis vs friends, Nyx avatar (one of my favourite boss fights ever) or Dr Maruki. Gran vs Id (the sidequest one, but there´s not so much stakes during that fight).
Something to mention about Gabriel's second fight. At some point, a couple edits have been made that interpersed his dialogue from the beginning with the pipe organ with Infinite's Theme from Sonic Forces, and it's a banger every time.
The Shimura-fight completely broke me back then. I was prepared for the fight but not for the decision that came afterwards. I cried like an idiot just because of that moment.
Not a boss fight, but one side quest that occurs after a boss I love, is the one in sunset overdrive, where after you kill a giant fizzie balloon, you find the AI core, and slowly teach it emotions and empathy, and it’s oddly emotional for a game where you whip around and make things go kablam. And this one is rather personal as fizzie is the mascot for the drink that caused the events of sunset overdrive
Watching a retrospective on Guilty Gear and seeing Ky's family, you could make a Top 10 Video Game Families, in the sense of the family that kicks butt together stays together
12:31 now if only Sly 5 would come out already, it’s been nearly a decade since that cliffhanger from Sly 4 (which was actually a great game mind you, though I would’ve preferred the idea of a mole being the Black Knight’s identity as it what could have been) and STILL no news on bringing back the Master Thief of our childhoods!!
There's also a lot of bosses that are personal from Octopath Traveler I & II! Like Mattias for poisoning Ophilia's adoptive father before her chapter began, Lucia for stealing the forbidden tome for herself forcing Cyrus to stop her, Werner for causing the fall of Hornburg and turning Erhardt against Olberic, Simeon for killing Primrose's father when she was just a child, Darius for making Therion the broken bird he was when we were first introduced to him, Redeye as Haanit's master got turned to stone by the beast he was hunting for. Trousseau who is also Cassti's evil former friend turned insane and poisoned an entire village, Harvey for taking away everything from Osvald including his wife and child, Claude for starting the Blacksnakes in the first place which disgusts Throné, Kaldena for killing Temenos' best friend Crick and taking the evil god Vide's power for herself and Mugen for brandishing Hikari as a traitor and taking over Ku as ruler. Any questions or comments?
Ah yes. The boss battles where the protagonist has to face someone who's very close to their heart. Usually with a tragic ending. Think Jin Sakai vs his father from Ghost of Tsushima or Eve vs Tachy from Stellar Blade. Or even Garcia Hotspur vs Paula from Shadows of the Damned...
Technically Lord Shimura was his uncle, though he wanted to adopt him as his son once the Mongols were defeated, but Jin ruined that due to becoming The Ghost.
Dr. Wily for Mega Man. Particularly in _Mega Man 1._ He stole the first set of Light Numbers, turned them evil, and set them loose on the world. I would say Bass, but Capcom seems to have forgotten he exists.
Wily is much more personally connected to Dr. Light though, with Mega Man/Rock being Dr. Light's son and Bass Wily's son. Still expected to see Bass here except... yeah. Haven't seen much of him lately. I did write a fic to correct that if you're interested.
The only change I'd probably make is include a boss from Persona 5 Royal since there's a bunch of bosses that feel personal especially to the Phantom Thieves such as Kamoshida, Madarame, Black Mask, a certain politician, and the Third Semester Palace Ruler.
The last moments of the boss fight have a lot of extra dialogue that you won't hear unless you intentionally drag out the fight to let the dialogue play.
The Teal Mask siblings… funny enough which group I was in changed over time. I used to be in the “hate one and love the other” group, liking Carmine and not being a fan of clingy Keiren. After my second playthrough, I’m now in the category of “I don’t like either of them”. I prefer the Paldea friends that I made along the way.
Totally. The original friend group cannot be topped. And honestly the game shoving us towards Carmine felt dirty given Penny's story. Why are we friends with a bully after everything Team Star went through?
@BJGvideos sorry, it's just I get a little frustrated at myself when I see people constantly bashing something I like. Not mad at you, just makes me feel a bit bad, you know.
@@BJGvideos When I was in the first group, I liked Carmine initially because my thought process was “Oh, I get it. She’s a Tsundere”. Plus, I kind of understood the story being told about her. She had a distrust of outsiders, fearing that they were exploiting her home as a tourist trap. But then at the end of the day she opened up a bit more and learned to trust other people. My main disappointment for my first run of Scarlet was when I played the Indigo Disk, though I don’t really think it was her fault too much. She was pretty much pushed to the wayside, but I guess after the Teal Mask her story was pretty much done. After my *second* playthrough though, oh boy. I remembered her being mean to her brother before, but my god I forgot just HOW mean she was. No wonder the small clingy child had such a shift in attitude, his sister was just the worst to him. This went beyond “oh she’s just a tsundere”. The words she’d use were overly harsh and way over the line. As for Kiren… I never really liked him. In my first run, I thought he was at best… just okay. Nothing terrible but nothing really standoutish. Just a very shy boy. But then everything with Ogrepon happened and I found him to be, as I said, super clingy and annoying. And in the Indigo Disk he was just a total asshole. Yeah we made up in the end, but that’s not really enough. Bro was just upset he wasn’t the main character. I found myself having to say to my Switch “I didn’t choose the Gary Stu life, the Gary Stu life chose me”.
I wonder if the Dark One from Doom Eternal Counts. I mean he's literally an evil version of the Doom Slayer and the God of his world. Kind of hard to get more personal than that.
Some other ones Shadow Shido (Persona 5) Herrscher of Thunder (Honkai Impact 3rd) Asch the Bloody (Fight 2) (Tales of the Abyss) Eve (No Straight Roads) Venom (Spider Man 2)
For me the most personal boss fight was the nemesis system of shadow of mordor/war. My nemesis noruk the wise was awesome and was very very personal. In mordor he was just a captain and then when I killed the warchief he took over it even though he wasn't part of the warchiefs bodyguards. He literally planned it out. Oh so it seems thanks to what you interpret it as. Which I did. And so he has been my nemesis since then and thanks to the nemesis forge way back then. He was able to be imported into shadow of war where he is the overlord of gorgoroth. And the great thing about the nemesis system... no one has the same nemesis as you do. It's all randomly generated. So you get your very own personal boss. Just thought I say it here since this video is about personal bosses.
To me it was Luca blight from suikoden 2,he had to be stopped in the final battle. Then before the final boss the rune beast,I fought Lucia who is an important character in suikoden 3,turns out she was pregnant with Luca’s unborn baby Hugo, one of the three protagonists of suikoden 3
The fact that this countdown dropped just a couple of hours after Ubisoft released the premiere trailer for Assassin's Creed Shadows basically made that jab age like milk
Few more: Isabeau - Shin Megami Tensei IV Owl - Sekiro The final boss of the normal route - Omori Vahram Rematch - Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Roxas - Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix Pure Vessel - Hollow Knight Final Boss - Crash 4
Luke vs asch in tales of the abyss. Kratos vs all the gods from 1-3 Dbz kakarot plenty of examples Fire emblem the list is huge from vailidar anakos garon sombron grima etc
I hate the fact that Ridley was snubbed for Darth Chozo in Dread. Yeah, he was an obvious choice, but as Josh said in Top Ten Fixed Games, "It's obvious because it's right!"
I think the difference is that Samus never seems to reciprocate that feeling of rivalry. There's never any kind of reaction from her towards this vicious pirate lord who purportedly slaughtered her parents, and Ridley never does much except constantly show up. But we certainly witness her rage towards Raven Beak and determination to stop him.
@@WhiteFangofWar But that was only at the very end where we get like two seconds to process that Raven Beak is technically Samus' father before being shoved into the final boss. Yeah, Samus' scream is awesome, but I feel like that's less to do with her anger at him specifically being her father and more so her determination to stop him. With Ridley, you have multiple moments throughout the whole franchise where they constantly clash due to their mutual hatred of each other. Samus Returns is actually a great example of this. Sure, Ridley the instigator is the baby Metroid, but they still fight like the vicious rivals they are, complete with moments where each one gets really close to killing the other but fails thus representing their rivalry as a whole.
Sabata vs Django better be here as in Django 3 that game was amazing Brother vs Brother and Sabata slowly realizing what he was doing. (He was dead btw killed of by django prior)
Pokey/Porky Minch. Seriously being able to lay a smack down on that brat in Mother 3 was cathardic... and then they pulled a fast one and you couldn't defeat him.
To be fair... by the point you couldn't beat him, he'd kinda beaten himself. I mean absolute safety from any outside influence does tend to mean those same things are now absolutely safe from you...
number 10 would be intimmidating if the devs actually knew how to levelscale in their plot fights like imagine fighting this under ACTUAL vgc rules where everything gets forced to 50
I prefer the fight we got...Just don't bring the banshee Gardevoir to the fight. Kieran was where I realized just how stupidly OP she became in later Gens because half his team gets annihilated by her.
@@Santoryu90 tbh its more a problem if you look at the gap between game release and dlc release. i imagine if you go from game clear straight into dlc its pretty alright. but most people that got to the dlc actually had lvl 100's and potentially even competetive mons cause what else were peopel meant to bring to the hard af 7* bullshit raids
Raven Beak of the Mawkin Tribe was one of two DNA Donors, the other was Grey Voice of the Thoha Tribe who raised Samus alongside Old Bird who were featured in “Metroid: Zero Mission" and the "Metroid Manga" which is canon.
@@Rman94 While also claiming all of her achievements that he did NOTHING to contribute to other than donating DNA (at most) for his own as well. Deadbeat Raven would be a better name for him.
Kieran has something that shows how salty he is that you were chosen by ogerpon at the first part of the DLC. If you send ogerpon to battle Kieran said "you have some nerve to bring the ogre now of all times." and he proceed to focus all of his attacks on ogerpon because of how mad he is that ogerpon chose you. That also triggered him when terapagos appeared since it seemed terapagos was about to choose you like ogerpon did.
For a second there I thought you were going to roast Kieran, and totally agree with you on having a "not to lie" option, and you’re right about it being personal, I didn’t really want to fight him, but it was the only way to save him. Also I wished that Ogerpon had could have mended the restored friendship with him and the player.
Adding onto Gemini Spark, one of the stronger Noise Combos in Starforce 3 includes him, combining him and Wolf Woods into Gemini Wolf, which is a massive boost for Bushido-based decks.
Technically Vergil isnt the final boss of the series. DANTE is. The DMC 5 Vergil campaign, which released after the initial game, is the last thing to release and the final boss of that is Dante.
Who cares? Both Dante AND Nero fight Vergil, and the fight have FIVE GAMES of build up... which is why I think it should have been number 1, and number 2 should have been The Boss from MGS 3. Liquid Snake is a thorn in your side that you finally get to pull out. The Boss is a character you MUST kill to save millions, but her death stabs you in the heart no matter how necessary it is. It's FAR more personal than two old men trying to have an actual fight while they groan and clutch their backs.
One boss i think should be on here is Oryx, The Taken King. After you kill his son Crota, he breaks his own logic he has been following for millennia in order to personally take care of you. You go through his whole court, before finally battling him face to face with one of the best entrances to a boss fight I have seen.
Jack was definitely thee most satisfying boss that I have ever beaten in a game. Hearing my character say 'Cool story bro' as you put him down just adds to the satisfaction.
Handsome Jack is not that evil. he is not a saint, but not all his actions are unjustifiable. maybe if people in the pre-sequel didn't betray him for no reason then he would have no reason to do a portion of the things he did in borderlands 2.
yeah the pre-sequal seems to be designed to show lillith drove him crazy cause she betrayed him for no good reason instead of just tagging along to see what he was actually up to also doesn't help that pandora population is 90% bandits
Apologies for my paragraph here... As soon as you mentioned Handsome Jack, I KNEW you made the right call! I don't even mind that he's #2, but for what he did throughout Borderlands 1, Pre-Sequel, and Borderlands 2, all of that was enough to put him on the list. As someone who played as Mordecai in Borderlands 1, seeing Bloodwing getting her head BLOWN off by Jack for the first time was enough to trigger me... I kid you not that when this happened, I screamed my heart out like Mordecai did, demanding vengeance on Jack, but I did allow Lilith to kill him, however; when Sir Hammerlock's DLC came out and I saw Jack revived as an abomination, my desire for revenge reignited, only for that flame to burn even brighter in Tiny Tina's DLC because of how much he traumatized poor Tina.
First off, Gabriel's intro to the second fight was a beautiful poetry of hatred (take that as you will) you have to have a passion of vitriolic rage to comit such a monologue. Second knowing Wheatley's purpose is tragic the more you realize he was DESIGNED to be the perfect failure. A.I or not that would be a terrible fate for anyone.
Honestly, I can think of a phenomenal personal boss from Arknights (yes I know it’s a mobile games but the fights are phenomenally well done), that being Talulah. *Spoilers for the game so keep that in mind when pressing down…..* To start, Arknights’ first Act’s main villain and leader of Reunion, Talulah. While not present throughout the entire story, the story slowly builds towards revealing how things are off about the whole situation, to saying she is a kind and merciful leader only to see her commit genocide on the Non-Infected and those who oppose of Chernobog, attempting to do the same with Lungmen, allowing W permission to kill Skullshatterer’s unit if it kills Rhodes Island, allowing Mephisto to start a zombie apocalypse on Lungmen, and the fact we hear the contrast of her actions now and in the past from FrostNova and learn that originally, every leader of Reunion just wanted a home somewhere, as due to being Infected, they never had that luxury or agonisingly lost it. This goes further when you start to bond with FrostNova, promising her that you will end this and give her and her adopted siblings a home….. only to not be able to save them from being slaughtered, and watching FrostNova use her powers to her limits and embracing her in her final moments…. In your arms while she can finally feel warmth, and entrust you to save Talulah from what she became. To then confront Patriot, FrostNova’s adoptive father that is *the strongest living being in the world of Terra, while dying of magic rock cancer!* You see the loose loose situation he’s in due to being aware of the change and making a vow to protect his fellow Infected and Reunion members, as if he kills Talulah he is a traitor, if not everyone will die. This tears him apart along with the fact that he is grieving for his daughter’s death and he sees *you* as the one responsible for it despite Talulah’s actions… but even that isn’t enough as he too falls, solemnly trusting Rhodes Island to fix things with his dying breathe, a moment so impactful…. *Everyone* in the world stops to feel the presence of his death, even his late daughter’s body starts to emit her freezing chill over the entire land to cause snow to fall, as that snow was a reminder of his home. You learn *all* of this, and with each learned detail, each death, each trial to reach her, it becomes very personal. And due to Amiya, you learn of her past and what caused Talulah’s change, and while I won’t say what as it’s controversial and differs opinions and it’s better to read it yourself, I do believe it adds to the personal stakes of the fight. Although FrostNova and Patriot’s sacrifices and deaths despite being your enemies already made the fight absurdly personal when it’s finally done, you feel satisfied beyond belief, as the madness ends for now, the dead’s wishes have been honoured, all the sides in the conflict respect the wishes for peace or a ceasefire for now, and the conflict with Reunion ends. I already typed so much but seriously, the fights against the draconian Deathless Black Snake were amazing and the story of the first Act of Arknights was phenomenal story-wise
I have a headcanon regarding why Wheatley went bad: Aperture Science is actually being run…by Cave Johnson. Wheatley mentioned there was some subroutine causing him to want to test. We also find out Cave wanted his brain mapped into the system and if it doesn’t work…map Catherine into it. (And she becomes GlaDOS!) And GlaDOS actually turns good when disconnected from the system. Makes you wonder whether his being mapped into the mainframe actually failed…doesn’t it?
I still don't get why he quit. Because people harassed him for an innocent video? Fuck 'em! Giving up gives them what they want! It gives them power! Harassers need to lose all power, but instead he delivered it to them gift wrapped.

i feel that Seifer from FF8 is a pretty personal recurring boss battle in that games story, Seifer and Squall are both rivals as Gunblade users; with Squall taking the weapon because of its difficulty to master and Seifer using it to imitate his favourite movie, Zell hates Seifer due to all the bullying Seifer has put him through, Quistis feels like a failure of an instructor because of Seifer, Selphie and Irvine both were belittled by Seifer viewing them both as his replacements, and then there's Rinoa... not only do they both have a history together and having had a relationship off-screen but in the Galbadia Garden battle its heavily implied that Seifer and Rinoa have been intimate with each other. Edit: coincidentally; Seifer's favourite movie from which he drew inspiration to take up a Gunblade and pursue his dream of becoming a Sorceress Knight was the same movie that Laguna is filming and battling a Ruby Dragon in during Dream Sequence 4.

Luke's final fight against Asch was a awesome fight
Luke vs asch, no items final destination
Luke vs. Asch is extremely iconic, but I also have to give kudos to the fact that all of the Six God Generals except for arguably Sync count as personal bosses for the protagonists.
Spoilers for 10+ year old game ahead
Of course we have Luke being a replica of Asch, but Arietta was Anise's former coworker, Legretta was Tear's teacher, Dist was Jade's childhood friend, and Largo was Natalia's biological father.

Especially if you start with 0.
There are 3 other major bosses in the RGG series that could be up for debate:
Daisaku Kuze from 0: You fight him five times, and he was the only lieutenant Kiryu respected
Takechi Hanpeita from Ishin: Ryoma’s brother figure, who has pulled every string in the shadows to attempt to “reform” Japan.
Masato Arakawa in Like a Dragon: Ichiban really looked up to him, and the emotional scenes afterward…

Josh: Ghost of the Tsushima the Assassin's Creed set in Japan Ubisoft wouldn't give us!!
Ubisoft today: Assassin's Creed Shadows Trailer drops
got the ad right after the section
Feels like Ubisoft made Shadows too late. This is after other developers have thrown their hat into a AC like game set in Japan. (We even got Rise of the Ronin this year). By this point, AC is late to the party and will probably be inferior to what we already got. When it was first announced, I pretty much thought "I already have this game Ubisoft, it's called Ghost of Tsushima."

ZEUS!!! Your son has returned, and I am here to DESTROY OLYMPUS!!!!
22:42 the timing of this is CRAZY.
Not to mention that His and Ragna's final battle, much like Ocelot, Is the culmination of an entire franchise.
@@ethanbryan3748 Very much so!
Then we get to the motives-
Zag wants to find out the truth about his mother- but to do so means he needs to escape Hades both the Underworld and the his Father's past decisions.
Take a shot every time you hear Daddy issues in this video.

7: One of the best characters in Starforce series
10: Have not yet played the DLC
Nice list. Gran vs Id (the sidequest one, but there´s not so much stakes during that fight).
... that line about Assassins Creed Samurai is now hilarious with Ubisoft announcing that exact game THE SAME DAY THIS CAME OUT.
And, being modern Ubisoft, it looks BAD.

Well, unless Sanzaru changes their mind or sells Sly back to Sucker Punch (or to some other studio), a Sly 5 is never going to happen.
There's also a lot of bosses that are personal from Octopath Traveler I & II!

After my second playthrough, I’m now in the category of “I don’t like either of them”. I prefer the Paldea friends that I made along the way.
Totally. The original friend group cannot be topped.

The fact that Josh didn't include Parace L'sia on the list is a CRIME...
Do you know how personal this is for the FGC community!?
I like to think the mechanical owl found in Prehistoric Time (SC4) hitched a ride on Paradox's zeppelin, mayhaps the others as well.

Oh boy was this well-timed with the "Feudal Japan that Ubisoft wouldn't give us" bit
12:36 Nice Soundwave reference Josh!!!
Why not do a Top 10 Disney Villains that ALMOST Succeeded Their Goals? :)
Because Disney is a pariah company right now that hates the family audience that once flocked to it, ruins everything it touches, and worse.
28:36 as soon as he said Handsome Jack, a Hungry Jacks ad popped in. Honestly thought it was part of the video it scared me
number 10 would be intimmidating if the devs actually knew how to levelscale in their plot fights
like imagine fighting this under ACTUAL vgc rules where everything gets forced to 50
I prefer the fight we got...Just don't bring the banshee Gardevoir to the fight. Kieran was where I realized just how stupidly OP she became in later Gens because half his team gets annihilated by her.
Eh I’m fine with what we got the trainer levels in that DLC were a bit higher than I expected.
22:45 well now they finally did
The fact that you didn't put Gianni screaming "I do not have daddy issues! I am papas special fucking boy!" after 7:45 was such a missed opportunity.
22:46
WHOO BOY
Do we have some news for you.
Raven Beak of the Mawkin Tribe was one of two DNA Donors, the other was Grey Voice of the Thoha Tribe who raised Samus alongside Old Bird who were featured in “Metroid: Zero Mission" and the "Metroid Manga" which is canon.
And Raven Beak went out for blood milk then never came back.
@@hariman7727 Only to show up years later wanting her to give up everything she’s worked for to get his own career/agenda back on track.
That also triggered him when terapagos appeared since it seemed terapagos was about to choose you like ogerpon did.
yknow with the topic and the daddy issues counter i was CONVINCED that akechi would be here somewhere ngl
The second fight with Flam Kish. That one was not only personal but sad because she just couldn't let go of her hatred despite the kids showing mercy.
22:42 Literally, the same day this video was uploaded, a trailer for Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Shadows was released.
Ridley could show up, but I’d doubt it
ANY of the seven deities from Asura’s Wrath
Yasha would be my pick. He and Asura share the most history and that final battle with him was pretty bittersweet.
Weird we get this JUST as Ubisoft releases a trailer for a new Assassin's Creed game set in Feudal Japan.
Sir I yelped with joy over that JoCat referance!!! Thank you ❤️
Technically Vergil isnt the final boss of the series.
@@hariman7727 man I was literally just pointing out a small detail. I’m not here to argue over list placements
For some odd reason Ludwig from Bloodborne felt personal. Not for me but for Ludwig himself.
Here's a fun idea for a list:
Top Ten Music Bosses
That does sound like fun.
Didn't he do a top ten music battles a long time ago?
@@hariman7727 he did, but those were just music battles in media, not music boss fights.
Handsome Jack is not that evil.
he is not a saint, but not all his actions are unjustifiable.
maybe if people in the pre-sequel didn't betray him for no reason then he would have no reason to do a portion of the things he did in borderlands 2.
yeah the pre-sequal seems to be designed to show lillith drove him crazy cause she betrayed him for no good reason instead of just tagging along to see what he was actually up to
also doesn't help that pandora population is 90% bandits
*Spoilers for the game so keep that in mind when pressing down…..*
To start, Arknights’ first Act’s main villain and leader of Reunion, Talulah.
I hope OMORI gets at least an honorable mention here.
Nope, and he was a perfect fit too.
Her name is Caroline
V2 does get notably pissed off if you punch him with his own arm in the second fight. So HE takes it personally, at very least.
A JoCat AND an Overly Sarcastic Productions reference? We are eating good TONIGHT!
(I miss JoCat… T-T)
I still don't get why he quit. Because people harassed him for an innocent video? Fuck 'em! Giving up gives them what they want! It gives them power! Harassers need to lose all power, but instead he delivered it to them gift wrapped.
I'd throw in Kellogg from Fallout 4 but lower on the list.
Shot your spouse
Kidnapped your son
Actively mocked you as you followed him into abd through Fort Hagen
Basically best summed up by this potential response to his "are you ready to finish this?":
"You know....when i die, i only hope i go to hell too you piece of [YAY]"
i feel that Seifer from FF8 is a pretty personal recurring boss battle in that games story, Seifer and Squall are both rivals as Gunblade users; with Squall taking the weapon because of its difficulty to master and Seifer using it to imitate his favourite movie, Zell hates Seifer due to all the bullying Seifer has put him through, Quistis feels like a failure of an instructor because of Seifer, Selphie and Irvine both were belittled by Seifer viewing them both as his replacements, and then there's Rinoa... not only do they both have a history together and having had a relationship off-screen but in the Galbadia Garden battle its heavily implied that Seifer and Rinoa have been intimate with each other.
Edit: coincidentally; Seifer's favourite movie from which he drew inspiration to take up a Gunblade and pursue his dream of becoming a Sorceress Knight was the same movie that Laguna is filming and battling a Ruby Dragon in during Dream Sequence 4.
