I used the same method as in your video but today I turned on the fan and noticed that it stayed on. I tried to turn it off with the switch but it doesn't work. It stays on. What could be the problem?

I’ve had two 2001 Miatas and both have had the same over heating problems. Is this a common factory flaw?
Would installing a fan switch correct this?

I installed it to prevent the issue but it seems common. It's the sensor on the top of the thermostat housing. If you put a new one in you'll be good as gold.

@@hewbambam Thank you very much for your reply Hew. I have been battling this for years.
Would this fix be better than bypassing the mess with a fan switch?

Its definitely more reliable. This way you know for sure that the fan is going but if you rely on the stock fan switch you have no way of knowing if they're running

Will this turn both fans on?

No, it will only turn the left fan on. But I wired both on mine together so they both ran at the same time

    This dosent mess with anything?

Nope, I've been running it since I posted this video and havent had any issues. It doesn't tell the ecu anything, it just earths the fan relay.
