Actually, this hasn't specifically been canonised in the series yet and remains a fan theory! I know this as I watched every telling of the same story to get footage for this video and not once is it mentioned. Fans speculate it since it bridges the gap between the Artificial Chaos and Shadow's creation. We'll almost definitely know more after the release of Gerald's journal with SxSh Generations but either way, no footage of Gerald doing the research exists to put in the video. I do have my own personal theories about Gerald's research and how he went from researching Chaos to learning of Black Doom so I'm interested to see what information we're left with after the Shadow Generations! TLDR; I didn't want this video to age poorly based on what may or may not happen in Generations :')
@@maritousyt The one that isn't released yet? 👀 All we know from the promo of the journal is that Gerald researched Angel Islands, but as I said none of that is in the games or Sonic X. But here's hoping we get more information on it in Dark Beginnings! 😁 I'm not ruling out the theory Shadow is based off the Super Sonic mural, Gerald just also researched multiple other mythical beings and there's only footage of Black Doom in game (without making assumptions based on a popular theory).
@@GalarianGuyit’s a pretty solid theory, considering that Gerald literally rebuilt the shrine of the Master Emerald and attempted to recreate Chaos. My only gripe, I guess, is that the Master Emerald shrine is indoors and I think underground in Sonic 3, but outdoors in Sonic Adventure, in an area that couldn’t possibly have been underground, in between the events that wiped out the echidna tribe and the events of SADX.
Excellent work with the script and how all the parallels were presented! The similarities between Shadow and Mewtwo are so cool when you think about it! (Kinda unrelated but it's so cool that both Mewtwo and Shadow got to be major antagonists in Live-Action adaptations of their respective franchises, Detective Pikachu and Sonic 3)
Thank you! It was pretty difficult wording things so they made sense for both stories, as well as the order the events take place, but ultimately I'm happy with how it came out! I did really want to wait for Sonic 3, Sonic x Shadow Generations and Dark Beginnings to see if there was any more details to add but after coming up with this video idea, I was itching to post it! :')
Wasn’t it that in sa2 shadow was more or so manipulating Eggman by telling him to gather all 7 emeralds and bring them to the ark as that would’ve activated the final story segment with Gerald and the biolizard whilst six allow usage of the eclipse canon and eggmans goal was to rule the world whilst shadows was to destroy it?
You're right, that's exactly what happens, which is why I had to word it the way I did! I don't actually recall the emeralds part too well though personally but that's cool if so!
Well the Pokémon series is a multiverse, which means pretty much anything official is as good as canon! On top of this, the Let's Go games also have a subtle reference to the cloning of Fuji's daughter, as well as the Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle clones. 👀 I do actually have some videos in very early development that plan to look into the Pokémon multiverse and more into Giovanni's backstory, as well as general Pokémon lore, so watch this space!

The goal of the video was just to show the parallels of their stories in a creative way! I don't think I really "explain the similarities" and if I did then they'd likely would lead to a lot of differences! The idea I had was to tell both stories that the same time with one script, not to do an intense dive into everything that's the same and different. So I hope you at least enjoyed the video for what it is and not what it's not! 😁

The movie isn't canon, but the story being so similar is just... ugh. I've never realized this.
