I wasn't even a NASCAR guy, but an article about this race is what made me start to better understand how divers most NASCAR drivers actually are in their talent.
They would have won that race if not for the gearbox or trans problem they had in the middle of the night. If I remember correctly they were leading the class right before that happened.

LanceCriminal86 I agree, was there working for a lamp team and spoke to Dale Sr. During the race, then watched the 500 a month later. So sad
best part was watching dale he looked so smooth going through the gears

American Le Mans Series. Used to be called that back in the day now it's called something different.
Nowadays this race is part of IMSA WeatherTech series.
@@gran_turismo_fan No, this was the Grand-Am Sportscar series, and not the ALMS. Sebring was part of the ALMS schedule, though.
