Actually the sculpture on the cover is from 1975 by a slovenian artist , Janez Prinat. Robert Smith found it in a book that was in his personal library, offered few years before by family member. When he saw that one in the book, he wanted it as cover artwork so started to research about the creator to ask for the copyright and stuff. He found out that that guy passed.... the exact same day he was trying to reach him...
He finally got in touch with his widow who allowed him to use the image and even better : offered him the artwork

I love the album. I love the sound, and the songs were performed live at the SONGS OF A LOST WORLD TOUR2023.

Making album's is not what it use to be .Gone are the days of 2 inch tape mixed by professional's .These records had a soul and where actual works of art !

‘A little too intense’ . Kind of the point of this record

As in audio clipping and loudness. I ran a few songs through a loudness meter and it charted higher then some modern metal bands I listen to. The music and songs are great. I just found there wasn't enough contrast from the soft and loud sections.

The mix sounds completely different depending on which cd or record you buy. There are basically two versions with diferent masterings. I own the white and marbled vinyl. The last one sounds a bit muddy and thick while the white vinyl (mastered by Miles) sounds more airy. Personally I prefer the Miles version of the album. It took me a couple of more listens too to get into the record, but I love it now. I’ll definately think you will prefer (and love) Disintegration, which is more diverse and is basically their masterpiece. If you are more into an alternative rock sound you have to go for Wish next.

That sounds great! I will listen to those albums next! I have heard the versions can all be a bit different, sadly I heard this on Spotify which could have ruined the whole experience for me.

@@ThatAlbumReviewShow Did you use proper headphones? Listening to the album on good headphones again changed the experience. First two listening sessions I didn’t really get into the album, but I promise you it’s worth to give it some more time. I think to really “get” this album, it’s important to go back to albums like Faith and Disintegration. I have subscribed to watch you do more Cure reviews. No pressure though, just a tiny bit 😛 Greetings from The Netherlands.

@@ellisivy4303 Thanks so much for checking out the video! I use Shure SRH440 studio headphones. I will definitely check out those albums soon! The Cure is a band I want to explore more in the future.

I really love the album and it can easily fit in the era of Disintegration, Wish and a little bit of Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me era. I do agree the mix kind of lacks in some areas. I have it on vinyl and I noticed when I first put it on it seemed a bit thin too. Maybe it's the mastering or lack of lol. But overall it was worth the wait!

Awesome! I like the songs just found the production distracting. I need to listen to more of the albums from the past and will check out the ones you mentioned first!

Listening on spotify is not the mode I would recommend you use if you are going to review an album. Even with my below average equipment Spotify always sounds inferior on many different albums of various genres. If you had it ripped into a media player or played the album on your own stereo you could eq it to your personal ear. I believe there is an app to add an equalizer to spotify but I only use Spotify to sample records or songs. I am sure if you buy the album and eq it yourself it will be much more enjoyable, The live version of these songs is much better and you get to see Reeves Gabrels do his thing...much better than the album!💀🎧

I think the problem is that I went in expecting to hear Reeves like from the Bowie albums and Tin Machine. I’ve heard lots of music on Spotify and was never really bothered by the sound quality. My home stereo is much better of course.

Ideally, you should listen to it more than twice to do a review

Unfortunately I don't think listening to this more will fix the mixing issues this album has.

AI-generated image of a Robert Smith-like character (0:17) for your thumbnail and video - brilliant. Much like the Bagatelle sculpture, it's a a good metaphor for reviewers who have thoughts, but don't think - or maybe the reviewer used the image just because it looked cool. Anyway, it is perceptive of you to say that, " the first thing you will notice is keyboards" . I'm dwelling on that. I think it is the first thing.

@@seanmaher2987 I was tired of the regular boring reviews so I wanted to do something a bit different. I try to have something funny or interesting in each video. Some of my videos have fake cat food ads in them. I think I am expecting people to watch a few of the videos and understand it's not really that serious. The bad AI images are all part of that too. I think this episode is backfiring on me though. Oh well I can't stop now I guess.

@@seanmaher2987 ruclips.net/video/ZgCK9ClcFn0/видео.htmlsi=lyAUHmgOtR4QJqhV This is the best example of the type of humor I’m going for on the channel. It's a Ghost Impera review. With fake cat food commercial of course. I am big fan of awkward humor and wanted to do a review show that goes off the rails sometimes. It’s not for everyone but I’m having fun making them!
