Welcome to the only album review channel on RUclips. I haven't looked, but can only assume that I am the first one to think of this concept. Reviewing classic albums and soon-to-be classic albums with a bit of humor. Album ratings will be based on a 5-point system. Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss out on any videos coming out. Also, feel free to mention any albums you would like me to listen to and talk about.
Ok, I just checked and apparently, there are hundreds of channels like this. Well, I think you should still check out some videos and see how we do things a bit differently. At the very least if all this turns out to be a huge waste of time you can say you were a part of it too.
Seriously though if the reviews thing doesn't pan out then maybe I will just turn this channel into a reaction channel or maybe a podcast. I'm sure no one has thought of that yet. Anyways, I guess I should be going now I still have to make dinner tonight. I think beef and bean tacos sound good.

Poppy Zig Album Review
Poppy Zig Album Review. Zig is definitely a pop album from start to finish. This album from Poppy had 4 singles, Church Outfit, Knockoff, Motorbike and Hard. Leaning more into the synth and sub bass sounds this one tends to leave the guitars in the background for the most part.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard Flight b741 Album Review
‘A little too intense’ . Kind of the point of this record
As in audio clipping and loudness. I ran a few songs through a loudness meter and it charted higher then some modern metal bands I listen to. The music and songs are great. I just found there wasn't enough contrast from the soft and loud sections.
Listening on spotify is not the mode I would recommend you use if you are going to review an album. Even with my below average equipment Spotify always sounds inferior on many different albums of various genres. If you had it ripped into a media player or played the album on your own stereo you could eq it to your personal ear. I believe there is an app to add an equalizer to spotify but I only use Spotify to sample records or songs. I am sure if you buy the album and eq it yourself it will be much more enjoyable, The live version of these songs is much better and you get to see Reeves Gabrels do his thing...much better than the album!💀🎧
I think the problem is that I went in expecting to hear Reeves like from the Bowie albums and Tin Machine. I’ve heard lots of music on Spotify and was never really bothered by the sound quality. My home stereo is much better of course.
Making album's is not what it use to be .Gone are the days of 2 inch tape mixed by professional's .These records had a soul and where actual works of art !
Actually the sculpture on the cover is from 1975 by a slovenian artist , Janez Prinat. Robert Smith found it in a book that was in his personal library, offered few years before by family member. When he saw that one in the book, he wanted it as cover artwork so started to research about the creator to ask for the copyright and stuff. He found out that that guy passed.... the exact same day he was trying to reach him... He finally got in touch with his widow who allowed him to use the image and even better : offered him the artwork
I love the album. I love the sound, and the songs were performed live at the SONGS OF A LOST WORLD TOUR2023.
The mix sounds completely different depending on which cd or record you buy. There are basically two versions with diferent masterings. I own the white and marbled vinyl. The last one sounds a bit muddy and thick while the white vinyl (mastered by Miles) sounds more airy. Personally I prefer the Miles version of the album. It took me a couple of more listens too to get into the record, but I love it now. I’ll definately think you will prefer (and love) Disintegration, which is more diverse and is basically their masterpiece. If you are more into an alternative rock sound you have to go for Wish next.
That sounds great! I will listen to those albums next! I have heard the versions can all be a bit different, sadly I heard this on Spotify which could have ruined the whole experience for me.
@@ThatAlbumReviewShow Did you use proper headphones? Listening to the album on good headphones again changed the experience. First two listening sessions I didn’t really get into the album, but I promise you it’s worth to give it some more time. I think to really “get” this album, it’s important to go back to albums like Faith and Disintegration. I have subscribed to watch you do more Cure reviews. No pressure though, just a tiny bit 😛 Greetings from The Netherlands.
@@ellisivy4303 Thanks so much for checking out the video! I use Shure SRH440 studio headphones. I will definitely check out those albums soon! The Cure is a band I want to explore more in the future.
AI-generated image of a Robert Smith-like character (0:17) for your thumbnail and video - brilliant. Much like the Bagatelle sculpture, it's a a good metaphor for reviewers who have thoughts, but don't think - or maybe the reviewer used the image just because it looked cool. Anyway, it is perceptive of you to say that, " the first thing you will notice is keyboards" . I'm dwelling on that. I think it is the first thing.
Thank you for watching! This is actually more of a comedy channel than a review channel. You have to watch all the videos in order all the way through to get the joke though.
@@ThatAlbumReviewShow I'm intrigued.
@@seanmaher2987 I was tired of the regular boring reviews so I wanted to do something a bit different. I try to have something funny or interesting in each video. Some of my videos have fake cat food ads in them. I think I am expecting people to watch a few of the videos and understand it's not really that serious. The bad AI images are all part of that too. I think this episode is backfiring on me though. Oh well I can't stop now I guess.
@@ThatAlbumReviewShow I'm even more intrigued now. Fake cat food ads are possibly the most Curish thing I've ever heard of.
@@seanmaher2987 ruclips.net/video/ZgCK9ClcFn0/видео.htmlsi=lyAUHmgOtR4QJqhV This is the best example of the type of humor I’m going for on the channel. It's a Ghost Impera review. With fake cat food commercial of course. I am big fan of awkward humor and wanted to do a review show that goes off the rails sometimes. It’s not for everyone but I’m having fun making them!
I really love the album and it can easily fit in the era of Disintegration, Wish and a little bit of Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me era. I do agree the mix kind of lacks in some areas. I have it on vinyl and I noticed when I first put it on it seemed a bit thin too. Maybe it's the mastering or lack of lol. But overall it was worth the wait!
Awesome! I like the songs just found the production distracting. I need to listen to more of the albums from the past and will check out the ones you mentioned first!
Ideally, you should listen to it more than twice to do a review
Unfortunately I don't think listening to this more will fix the mixing issues this album has.
@@ThatAlbumReviewShow Your published opinion seeems like a nice high stool to be sitting on. I'm sorry someone suggested you listen again, because, well, bleh, right? Don't worry about the feedback.
Opeth guitarist Fredrik Åkesson also played on this album.
This is my least favourite Ghost album. It starts out great put after the 3rd song (not counting intro track) it just meander's along with too many ballads and instrumentals. It really needed a heavier/up tempo track or two near the end to bring the energy back around, but instead it goes out with a whimper.
Yeah I can see some of the pacing problems with it.
This is probably a good one for people to start with but I would go with Meliora.
It’s pretty good! I’m new to it too!!
@ThatAlbumReviewShow , very cool. I will watch that review next when I have time. Going backwards with the albums.
Only one song live off the new album which bummed me out as it is an incredible album
I've listened to it a few more times! I'm still really liking it!
Is that an AI papa
Yeah! I was surprised it could do it!!
His daughter’s voice is clear and clean. I appreciate hr voice.
Omg go listen to Smash right now it is way better than this album.
Oh yeah better song selection for sure!
Hey man, who is the guitarist in your cover video?
Pretty sure that’s Jerry. Oh at least his cousin.
@@ThatAlbumReviewShow Sorry man, maybe his cousin but not him 😅 btw great review, dude.
@@MeandtheOwls Hey thanks! I’m trying to do things a bit different and hopefully have fun music reviews!
That's not Dexter Holland in that photo
Circa Survive On Letting Go nailed the concept way better.
I found it amazing. Saw him live on Oct. 3rd. This album has all of the parts of his musical mind. It really is wonderful!
I wish he could come up to Canada so I get to see him!
I'm new to this band. It was recommended on another forum. I listened through once but had to bail out near the end because my ears eventually tired of all the overt 'audio sweetening' and by that I mean auto-tuning/quantizing etc - you know, when producers can't leave well enough alone. This album is absolutely overflowing with great ideas and great performances but do they really need all that post-processing to give them that awful contemporary pop sound? I'm a pro-musician and long-time 'progressive' devotee so I love what these guys are trying to do. Can I just hear a raw version of the album - I think I'd be in heaven.
Nice review!
Thanks! I'm still getting the hang of all this. The main goal is to find new bands and music!
Awesome band!
I was very surprised how great this album was!!!
I am a big fan of Floyd and Gilmour but I really think he should push his boundaries more and explore more. Step outside his comfort zone. His music has become 'comfortably numbing’. Luck & Strange is a really lovely laid back track with great Gilmore guitar, but it's just more of the same, almost formulaic. If someone told me it was created by AI I wouldn't be surprised. My advice, for what it's worth as a fan (and experimental musician), do what Bowie did, find musicians that push you in new directions. I live in Crouch End, Floyd used to play at the Hornsey College of Art here, a college of amazing creative people (I went there well over a decade after), then they were cutting edge, experimental, they pushed the boundaries. I would love to hear what Gilmour would create if he went back to that original mindset. Another thought David, how about playing a secret gig there (its now a school but the main hall is still there).
The picture you use isn't Wolfgang Van Halen.
I think it’s pretty close!
@@ThatAlbumReviewShow Still.
That dude ain't David Gilmour!
Maybe a relative?
@@ThatAlbumReviewShow Looks AI generated...definitely not him by any means
If that’s Gilmour, that’s the worst pic I’ve ever seen. Come on, if you care enough to review the album, how difficult to get a representative pic?
@@GD710ASt My channel isn't meant to be that serious. It's more entertainment then review. Thank you!
Who is the guy you show at 0:22?
Why that’s David Gilmour of course! Lol
The bonus tracks are better than being bonus tracks…. The Lodger is awesome…. The album as a whole kicks total arse… my only complaint is that the bonus tracks are on a 45 as opposed to a full size album…. Not a huge deal but if I had to complain about something that’d be it….. a solid 10 out of 10
This album was completely awesome! I’m glad I finally got to it!
I didn't know Target sold the album with bonus tracks when it came out because the Lodger is amazing. This should've been the album closer.
@@tomp8463 Target offered the cd version in a book type case with the bonus tracks… Lodger being the closing track… best damn album of the last 20 years
Fix me is way more punk/emo but masterpiece theatre is where they pick up. Every album is a piece of a story. Listen to each album in order and you start to pick up on the story of Josh Ramsey’s life. Then relisten to haven and you will pick up on so many nods to the other albums.
Awesome yeah I’m going to check out the other albums soon!
Awesome review!!! I am from the US and not many hear now about them. Thank u for this review.
Thank so much for checking out the video. They are a great Canadian band!!
great!
Thank you! I tried to have fun with it!
Its prob a good idea to listen to a album before doing a review. 😂 great album, a true return to form
Listened to it a couple times so far. Maybe it will grow on me with more time.
I love the new album! Such a focused and timely sound for the band
I was quite surprised how much I liked it!
Thanks for this review. Those pictures of the band are rather odd!
@@seethroughhead505 I add the pictures cause I hope someone will find it funny!
@@ThatAlbumReviewShow Funny and slightly disturbing!
I love this album. A ton of great riffs. Really enjoy the end of Setting Sun.
Yeah it really reminds me of classic Pearl Jam!
Don't know if it's true, but i heard that Stormy Monday was recorded in just one take , and that's why you hear the banter from Beth Hart.
That makes sense for sure. If been listen to more of her now and she’s awesome!
This is true (as mentioned by Slash in an interview) and that this was recorded just days after Beth had returned from Jeff Beck's funeral in England.
Are you sure that was Chris Robinson in that pic? lol
Some of the generated pictures can be horrible lol
Cool review, thanks. I don't think the album is that bad ether, I look at it more as a "Get off my lawn!" version than a tribute but I still kinda like it.
Awesome thanks! I thought there were some cool ideas too. Also making an album at his age is still amazing!
best album ever
