I wanted my sweet girl to have the best marriage proposal ever. This is what ended up happing...
Wildflower. That is what comes to mind when I consider my bride Bonnie Kate. Much like a wildflower, she is the strongest and bravest person I know with unmatched, unintentional beauty and fragility both inside and out. Choosing to grow and persevere even in the harshest of seasons and circumstances Bonnie Kate shines brightly through the darkness and chooses to accept joy every step of the long, painful, and seemingly endless way. We know that this long-suffering, this present darkness is for an unfathomably greater good to come, and this film is a small glimpse into wrestling with that reality.
This is my most treasured film, project or any creation I've ever poured myself into to date. It was the challenging blend of narrative and documentary approaches to making this film that pushed me to new limits as a filmmaker. A collective of thousands of hours from a strong creative team is what you are about to watch, this was no one-man effort but the sum efforts of many talented, passionate, volunteered friends + professionals. I hope you are inspired, encouraged, challenged as sharing this much about our personal lives is both scarily vulnerable and exciting. Thank you for watching and sharing our story, it means a lot.
