Bros this was your most excellent reaction yet! I love how you took the lyrics literally and kept "doing it again"! LOL The best part about this song is how it runs smooth, like clockwork, Like a precision machine, that beat is constantly driving the song! Might i suggest another Steely Dan groove, "Josie". It's right up your alley... #singalongtime

Love the reaction, Steely Dan are one of the best of all time. You sounds like you're from Liverpool, excuse me if I'm mistaken, I lived in the city 20 or so years ago and listening to this reminded me of my time in there. Loved my time there and the city and the people. Wish you both all the best and great reaction!

Donald Fagan and Walter Becker were the Band, and they hired everyone else to play the parts wrote. They allowed the musicians to play their way, but the part was written.
If you were asked to play on a Steely Dan Album, you were at the pinnacle of your instrumental career.
Glad to see so many Youngin's especially the non American youngins, get a glimpse into Life via the Music in America in the 70s and 80s.

As a Dan Fan I must tell you. The two men responsible for Steely Dan are Walter Becker now deceased and Donald Fagen. they are Studio musicians .they hired professional legendary guitar players saxophonist and drummers and keyboarders . Walter Becker
Is deceased. what is essentially a perfectionist engineer spent time fine-tuning each part of the song for days and weeks a beautiful beautiful gift to the world. my Generations music passed on to yours. Try other Steely Dan albums try Aha, FM, can't buy a thrill.etc play the whole album both sides several times for each song.enjoy 3cheers from Canada

Yess we can see🙂 your having the time of your life, lol so did we!!, we had so much fun with this as well, SD got that groove, yes two guys, but they were predominantly studio musicians, so, so many people worked with them, Picaro from ToTo, Michael McDonald, the I don't think toured much, but belted out songs continuously, Walter was such a prolific guitarist, and Fagen a keyboard virtuoso, Fagen I think was heavily influenced by jazz greats like Dave Brubeck, Count Base,..that part after the guitar was Fagen on probably an organ. Babylon Sisters, Reelin in The Years, and the entire Aja album is a must, masterpiece (Peg, Josie, Home at Last my personal favs),..SD are more jazz but thats no takeaway from the wildly imaginative way Walter plays, like rock, not exactly like jazz guitarists like George Benson, Ronnie Jordan, or Pat Metheny, (even if your not into jazz please give them a listen too), and the maestro Fagen the way he strings it all together. They're incredible. Enjoy, Peace ✌

This is off their first album, and a great groove. It's one of their more commercial and accessible tracks, they quickly started showing a great range of sophisticated material. Although they continued to have had a lot of successful hit singles , they were always more of an album selling band. Superb production and musicianship, and very smart lyrics.

Steely Dan is awesome - I love so many of their songs... BUT - I have heard from numerous sources, including personal friends with first-hand experience - that they never were good "live" - in fact, that they were notoriously BAD live - to the point of missing notes, no charisma/crowd interaction, etc. -- thing is, they were comprised of a number of FABULOUS session musicians - who never wanted or intended to play concerts... nevertheless - as studio recorders, they made some fantastic music - just glad I never spent money to see them "live" - :)
