    Hello Matt fellow Ebay seller here from Melbourne. Sadly I have the opposite problem I have a massive death storage locker and only me to do all the work. My suggestion on buying the best bulk buys I have done is on facebook when people just want to get rid of things without knowing the value. Also maybe increase your variety when shopping to get more out of your shop in each thrift store. You commented about books... out of my categories Books and toys are my top sellers. They sell for anything from $30 to $300 depending on the right books..(textbooks & folio society etc) I would suggest you might want to start researching books as a lot of Ebay sellers make a fortune selling the right ones. Wish you luck in your hunting. PS Alot of stock here in Melbourne

    Not going to lie dude, your videos have inspired me to start flipping stuff. I found you randomly through YT algorithm and I've been hooked every since. Been flipping a couple of weeks now and have made a few sales so far and it's been so fun trying to source new stuff to get on the store. It's ALMOST car boot / flea market season now in the UK near me, so hopefully my inventory should really kick off soon!

    Thanks, I am a bit reassured that other people are having same sourcing problems as me.
    I drove from Ipswich to the Redcliffe area yesterday to go to shops I have never been to before. I only picked up 3 decent listings (I only list dvd's). Out of frustration I picked up a few duds too. Didn't check the comps well enough!
    Anyway, I have a huge collection of dvd's, collected over the last 18 years or so. I have decided to list up some that I will never actually watch, particularly boxsets.

    What’s happening in the op shops???? Everything is gone up and quality just isn’t there… Op shops need to just figure out if they’re FOR profit or charity… I respect Savers they are for profit and their prices say so… But other op shops that are meant to be charity like salvos, Vinnies etc. they get all the tax brakes of an NGO/charity but their prices are crazy! I mainly shop for me and my family rarely to resell but when they get an impression that I might be buying to resell they get all pissed! Wtf! I pay what you ask for? What’s the problem? I’m so tired of it! I feel for you guys out there making a living from it… These op shops are getting greedy!

    • @garth6994
      @garth6994 Год назад +2

      I agree - they are getting the goods for nothing and receive significant tax breaks. If it weren't for re-sellers, their sales wouldn't be as high. Very few 'regular' customers would come in and purchase potentially hundreds of $$ worth of merchandise in one hit, like a re-seller would. They rely on re-sellers for their large sales, yet treat them with great suspicion and disdain sometimes!

    • @BigNoizz
      @BigNoizz Год назад +1

      The major op shops no longer operate how you think they should!
      Firstly most of the items no longer make it out to the floor. Stock is put aside for local merchants or pickers who have struck deals to buy in bulk.
      (Think large flea markets)
      Secondly every items is now scanned, they look out for brands they have lists of things to look for and these items are usually grabbed by volenteers and employees who work there.
      Finally a lot of the shops now have Targets ans KPI performance structures, sales targets to meet. Prices have been increasing slowly to reach these targets .
      Source. I am an op shop volenteer.
      Wonder why you never really see PS1 games or PS2 games on the floor...now you know

    I don't know if you know this or not, but that star wars trilogy bonus material you picked up is just bonus material that came with the boxed set of the original 3 films. It does not contain the actual films. I would bundle it with the 6 films you picked up, as it would have originally came with them. I actually have the boxed set at home, that's how I know.

    Everything seems to be slow at the moment, picking up good stuff and waiting for sales. I pick up DVD's a lot but yesterday I nearly bit my tongue 'you are *&%^ joking!' DVD's - $1 per disc, so if a 5 disc set, $5 etc I wouldn't have minded so much if they had been decent series. Some op shops are in fairyland. At the same place I found an O'Neal dirt bike set, top and bottoms, hardly, if ever worn, $14.50 the pair. All over the place. I was about 190kms from home so not a place I go to very often.

    Love the material you turn out mate! There's so much profit to be made in flipping. I tend to higher value but bulkier items (bicycles and computers, or parts) but have to invest some labour in cleaning, repairing, servicing to get the most value out of them. Yields a solid hourly rate for the effort invested though. Do you find that flipping lots of smaller items lets you pay yourself a good hourly rate?

    • @TheAussieFlipper
      @TheAussieFlipper  Год назад +1

      I don’t see this as an hourly rate job. You’re running a business and it’s a different mentality to a ‘job’ - if you’re scaling the hourly rate won’t look good because you’re reinvesting back into the business. I tend to look at the macro. How much did I make in a year type stuff. How much did I grow from the year before. It’s a marathon not a sprint

    • @conroe_au
      @conroe_au Год назад

      @@TheAussieFlipper fair enough, I guess I just want to make sure that the level of effort pays off. Sometimes flipping means dragging the kids out on buying journeys, or leaving them with the wife. An hourly rate estimate helps me justify the time. I've been flipping outside of work hours for about 10-15 years but just started tracking sales on a spreadsheet, and estimating labour, consumables and overheads per item, to look at the profit per hour. I guess it's all to consider if I can viably make more flipping than my full time job.

I first bubble wrap the game, then put cardboard from a used box cut to the size of the top and bottom and then wrap it in an ex large aus post satchel or quality black rubbish bag. Work out whether it is cheaper to post by weight and size or by the ex large satchel. Try and put all the pieces in a zip lock bag. Hope this helps.
