The soundtrack instantly gives me mysterious and illegal vibes. No other game quite gives that kind of gritty underground street racing feeling other than Carbon.
Vibes/atmosphere are very important for a racing game. NFS Most Wanted 05 and Carbon had these vibes you were speaking of. It's that thing EA can't nail anymore. I don't need a cast of colorful characters that won't stfu in my racing game, I need atmosphere, I need a good soundtrack and I need mechanics that make me feel like I'm actually going fast in my cars again. I feel like an old man at 26 saying this but there was no reason for the NFS series to fall this hard the last few years

I loved how older games had music like this, specific to a certain scenario. Like here, it's for a class of car, Racedriver GRID and GRID 2 kicked in music at the end of the race and I remember the music in Carbon changing depending on how your race was going
Theres an alternative version of this track that plays when you're fighting for your life to catch (back?) up to the 1st place if memory serves and it goes absolutely bonkers. It lets you know that you're at an advantage but in spite of that need to put in your best effort to capitalize on it as it is a fleeting opportunity and awesomely encapsulates the aggression you need to apply to your play-style in these moments in order to do so... I guess its time to replay carbon again.

I always complete the game with an exotic, but today was my first time with a tuner ( Evo IX). However, this is my favourite theme out of the three ... and I always get sad when I hear it over the ending titles. Great game !

You can have good engine power, true, but what the heck is an engine power if your car slides like a soap?
