    Honestly would have flipped the stair tread the other way so the angle faced downward and braced itself against the wall piece instead of pulling on it. Ogher than that pretty good concept. Watch the corners walking past.

    • @nekola203
      @nekola203 3 месяца назад +3

      agree. this angle puts pressure on the 'upright' part of the treads that is only welded. if it was upside down, then the pressure on the 'upright' part, would've been absorbed by the C channel strength

      I was thinking the same thing. Or weld 45 degree braces under each stair tred.

      I specifically work in stair industry and could not believe they installed the tread brackets like they did. Exactly what you said, the flange should have been on the bottom side of the bracket to counteract a thing called gravity. This would have provided more strength overall to the outside edge of the tread bracket.

    • @PacificPinesRanch
      @PacificPinesRanch  2 месяца назад

      Thank you! This is a great idea. The only reason we didn't do that is because we have material that is going on top of the steel tread and it would interfere with it if the angle was pointed down. We also want to see through the stairs to give the "floating" effect. :)

  • @JohnnyMarcellaSerenityFab
    @JohnnyMarcellaSerenityFab 3 месяца назад

    for multiple cuts like that you can make a template of your hole and use it as a guide. Just remember to enlarge it by the offset of your torch or it will be too small. You can clamp or tack weld it on the surface to make it easier.

    Not an engineer or a welder, but it seems like if you flipped the treads so the flange pointed down instead of up it might be more stable. Kind of like a built in gusset. Probably too late now, but I'm sure they'll be fine any way. It does look fabulous though!

    • @PacificPinesRanch
      @PacificPinesRanch  2 месяца назад

      Thank you so much!! Yes they would definitely be stronger that way. We did not do that because we'll be installing something on top of the steel treads and if they were pointed down it would interfere with the material. You'll see in a future video. :)

    Dam girl. . . you operate an excavator and you weld!!!! I think I'm in love!!! ;-) For hiccups, take as deep a breath as you can so no more air can enter and hold for as long as you can. Let out slowly and hiccups will be gone!!!

  • @slanew
    @slanew 3 месяца назад

    I'm so impressed by how straight your plasma cuts are. Incredible! :)
    How deep is the landing at the top going to be? It looks waaaaay too shallow and restrictive, especially if you picture yourself getting furniture up there around the rails, or even just carrying bags.

    • @slanew
      @slanew 3 месяца назад

      Also, would the steps be better supported by installing them in an upside down position? (so that the vertical kick-board part is at the front, underneath the step hanging down and pressing against the the side beam when someone steps on it rather than trying to pull down and away from the beam in the way that you have it)

    • @PacificPinesRanch
      @PacificPinesRanch  2 месяца назад

      Thank you so much!! The landing is pretty large, although it looks narrow from below. I think it's somewhere around 45"x6.5' if I remember well. We will be putting material on the top of the steel treads which is why we placed them the way that we did. You will see in a future video. :)

    I've learned a nearly 100% effective way for stopping hiccup from a buddy of mine back in like third grade of primary school (we were playing Comodore 64 and sharing knowledge about hiccup). The thing is you have to tighten your diaphragm muscles and the trick that work pretty much every time is to get a deep breath and hold it while trying hard to blow the air out, preferably holding your nose squished with your fingers (maybe it's just a mental thing but works ;-). Do that 2 to 3 times holding breath for as long as you can.
    I've taught it once to a guy on a train when we were coming back from a music festival in the morning tired as hell and he was quite angry for the whole even as he had the hiccup for like a few hours. He tried it and it just went away. As he put it "one positive thing of that whole event" ;-) But honestly Blues Express Festival was great thing while it lasted. The steam engine called "Piękna Helena" (Beautiful Helena) was pulling carts slowly for like 6 hours on a distance of 150-200km. There were two concert carts - one for jam session ant the other for regular concert. Additionally there were 6 stops along the way and an each there were small like 20-30 minutes concerts right nest to the stations (sometimes with musicians on the roof heh) and once train arrived to its final stop there was the main big concert in the evening. Don't know why they stopped organizing it after something like 18 years... OK, I got sentimental :p

    Just as a suggestion, put the camera behind a mask or filter for the welding shots. It might mean a bit more setup but it has multiple benefits. First is I’m epileptic, fortunately not photosensitive, but the brightness of the welder might affect those that are. Secondly I believe the brightness of the welder will degrade the camera significantly over time like it affects eyes when exposed? I could be wrong on this one, not sure.

    Cure for hiccups. Get a glass of water and put your mouth on the other side of the glass with your chin over the opening in the glass. You'll need to face downwards. We've used many materials with the wet sandblaster. I highly recommend coal slag. We use a 4400 PSI pressure washer.

    Love the stairs but what are you going to do with the ends? that 8th and 9th step is right at head height and will cut deep with the slightest bump of the head. Yikes. Loved the vid. Keep them coming!
