Last week, in August, until 1st week in October, my husband and I are driving the States. Going West, stopping in between then Washington State, coming home towards California stopping in-between Arizona is one of the states. Heading home to Pennsylvania
We went to the Dells in Wisconsin
I burn pretty bad and get sun poison, and my ex mother inlaw that is no longer with us, may she and others rest in peace, but she had told me to soak tea bags and put on sun burn,told also by some to use oatmilk, aloe etc.praying that you both will feel better soon and will not have to worry about the issues that come with to much sun,had a Dr fuss at me about the danger of having to much sun and sometimes it is definitely going to be difficult ,water and sun as well as wind,being in those three situations where I have been seriously burned ,ended up in emergency room with sun poison several times in my lifetime and family members who are no longer with us because of complications with the sun,etc.you'll please be careful and take care of yourselves, we appreciate you both and don't want anything to happen to either of you. Prayers and blessings to you both. 😊❤😊
We leave in 2 weeks for a cross country road trip from NY to LA- Spending 5 days in Arizona!
No vacations for us this year but I do live in San Diego County (Ramona, CA) so we can do the beach, mountains, and desert all in one day.
I think living near the ocean in southern ca, we take it for granted. Tourists get so excited seeing whales , dolphins etc.. when we see them almost daily.
I used to live in California (the bay but point stands) and seeing the ocean and such and always being around it was so normal and I didn’t care to think about it much then I moved to a landlocked state thinking I wouldn’t miss it cause I didn’t think about it much living in the bay but now when I visit I’m like a tourist, it’s almost a little fun!
Very cool! I live in north San Diego County in Oceanside...7 mins from the beach. I grew up here so have been to the beach many many times over my 70 yrs. You had to pass right thru O'side on your way to LA. So glad you got to do a whale watching trip! Love going whale watching and have seen many whales over the years. Saw a blue whale and her calf once and that was amazing! Will remember it forever! They have actually seen orcas occasionally but it is kind of rare. I have not been that fortunate. We have seen mostly humpback, fin and blues. Blues don't breach as far out of the water as most other whales do because they are so heavy. So sorry you got so sunburned! My daughter and her family live in AZ and they were just here this past week and totally got cooked, also! It's not a fun thing to go thru! Aloe, Aloe, Aloe on that sunburn! Really takes the sting out.

I don't put all my stuff out like that I'm so worried about bugs and stuff that I keep my stuff zipped and on the stand. Also I would have searched the whole room over and check the beds before unloading my car at all
I never use the drawers. I keep my stuff in the suitcase, off the floor, Even Disney has gotten bugs and bedbugs

I live in a little beach side town in Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 and the humpbacks migrate right past us from August to October. We also have turtles hatching on the beach around that time as well.

I live in southern California in San Bernardino county but I absolutely love visiting San Diego and Oceanside. There are so many things to do there and it is my happy place and a great stress release. So many amazing restaurants too.

To see humpbacks you should go on an Alaskan cruise. We saw all kinds of whales from the ship. Then we went on a whale watching tour and saw hump backs.

I’m going to Las Vegas in July to see Rod Stewart in concert and then December I am taking a two week cruise around South America. Can’t wait for both.
Glad you both had a great trip to California. I am doing an Alaskan cruise the first week of September and we are doing a whale watching trip in Juno. We are also doing the Yukon expedition and White Pass Scenic Railway tour in Saginaw. In Ketchikan, we are doing the rainforest sanctuary nature walk, Eagle and totem poles. Really looking forward to it for a week. Crossing my fingers that the Northern Lights will be bright.

Several years ago, almost 20 years I was sailing from San Francisco and plan to stop in San Diego and before we got there we were by LA and seen whales swim close to our boat plus we had.a.shark swim by the sailboat too, along with a pod of dolphins, we weren't sure what we would see but it was so amazing....

For our Summer vacations, we are going to visit St- Jean Port Joli in Québec Canada our country and we could see whale too. Océan Atlantique. I am a french Canadian girl! 🤗

I think a trip to the Seattle area would be nice and you could up to the San Juan islands and see the Orca whales ( they like to show off) you could see the space needle and the pike place market, take a ferry and go to the Olympic game farm.. research the area and see there so many different things to do in the puget sound area… for the sunburn pour a glass of milk 🥛 in a bath 🛁 tub of water and soak.. the lactic acid in the milk will take the heat and redness out of your skin and leave you with a good tan and it nourishes your skin ( I learned that from a Hawaii native when I got sunburned in Maui)
And get the BEST iced coffee!!
