Apologies for the lack of clarity! I just didn’t want to come across as a “gossip” but I realise it might be frustrating for you as viewers!
It was very petty, just someone trying to tell me how I should be doing things and moaning about some weeds that aren’t even on my plot. It just felt petty and made me feel a bit down and attacked you know? So I left and I was in such a hump I ended the vlog with a big rant which I edited out because I realised how stupid the whole situation was!
    Allotment drama ah?
Hope that answers some of the questions and sorry to leave you hanging! xx

I agree! Everyone should feel safe everyday on their allotments. Your encounter with one of those people who have two things important to them, one of them is their opinions. Report them. You might not be the only person but that person will be put on the radar!
You have many, many people who love tuning into your channel every week and how much you have done. Keep up the great work. 👍👍👍👍

Please report this person, you shouldnt have to put up with aggressive behaviour from anyone. Whatever their problem, they should deal with it as an adult and not bully anyone, particularly a young woman. I hope you had your camera filming as you may need proof. If not, please keep filming in the future if there is any bullying. Bless you 🙂 ❤

Hi Emma. You could weave your poles through the big ones. It will also help stabilize the structure. Ignore bullies. You’re better than they are, and they know it. It’s their insecurities that makes them that way. Love your vlog and content. xox from Canada 🇨🇦. P.S. I think your oval shaped tomatoes are a type of Roma tomato. Great for making paste and sauce.

Don't let the bully get to you Emma, you have done a fantastic job at clearing up your new plot and caring for both plots as a whole. You have battled the weeds and the elements over winter, your first year on your new plot has been a challenge because the weather has been difficult and it's the year of the slug. Your allotment should feel like a safe place for you to enjoy being in any day of the week. What ever his complaint or dispute is, he has no right to make you feel intimidated. Your plot is looking great Emma!

Ive learnt not to give any second chances to these people and i just pretend they dont exist now . I was shocked to witness how much drama there is at sites when its such a sanctuary and happy place for me i will not tolerate these sorts. Avoid avoid avoid it will soon be far in the past . Entirely agree with the many supportive comments on this video - intimidating, bullying, or event just unfriendly behaviour is unacceptable. My plot has a code of conduct in place that builds in respectful interactions even if about a disagreement. This is something for your committee or officer to know about, even if it’s just to log it for the future - you are unlikely to be the first person this has happened to and it’s only in sharing it that it can be stopped. Please don’t in any way attribute the cause of the unfriendliness to yourself - it wasn’t your recording of your vlog that caused his unacceptable behaviour, that’s just his excuse. Keep your positivity and your enjoyment of your plot and all the hard work you’ve put into it to make it such a lovely place.

I run an allotment for a small council - it is the greatest source of 'challenges' in my day/week/month/year. Our charges are ridiculously small given our location but people moan about them. Our maintenance budget is tiny but the allotment holders want everything gold plated. Nobody will do anything outside of their own plot and they snipe at each other like two year olds all the time. If we didn't have a legal obligation to provide the allotments, I get rid of them in an instant.

I have a tip for you.. Add screw in eye hooks into the corners of your beds, or drill some holes - then you can use string or wire to tie the support legs of your structure in the corners (where they will be stronger anyway. You could try drilling holes in the top of the sticks if you can, that's what I do, so when I make a little 3/4 point tipee... I can wrap wire or string and tie them all together. They've lasted me 3 seasons so far even in strong winds :) *hope you and the fam are doing well matey and remember... just keep pushing on and enjoying nature - that's all any of us can really do anyway! much love x

I wouldn't depend on wind pollination with such a small patch of corn. Hand shake each stall when it's calm. Wind pollination is great when there is a large patch of a field full, but a few stalks won't do very well with wind. Every silk left unpollinated is another empty spot on the cob!

I've given up removing suckers from my tomatoes. It's only really necessary if you have a small window of oppertunity for the tomatoes to ripen. If you grow seeds early in the year and are able to put them out after your last frost date then you stand a good chance of them maturing and producing plenty of tomatoes before the cold weather arrives. However, if you have a small window then go for the sucker removal as it does focus the energy on already growing tomatoes.

What other allotment holders say to you Emma does not diminish the amount of hard work and dedication you have put into both your plots. Their comments do not define you as a person, their comments define the kind of judgemental, selfish, petty and aggressive people they are. Take heart that your plots bring you joy whilst theirs must obviously bring them stress and small mindedness.

It’s not allotment plots. Plenty of people are very aggressive. I work for the railway.the number of “posh” people who think it acceptable to be verbally abusive is incredible. After 38 years I don’t think I have gone 6 months without a “customer” spitting at me. Fortunately it’s one in 100,000 but when you meet one - you don’t forget them!

Emma, get a 25 ft. roll of 4 or 5 foot tall 4" X 4" welded wire fencing. It lasts for years and makes wonderful trellises.

Emma I’m so sorry you’ve experienced that, just know that whatever happened it’s a reflection on them and not you. You triggered something that they don’t like about themselves and they didn’t like it so they projected it on to you. You are a lovely person ❤

Hi Emma, I love your videos and have been binge watching your older ones; I loved the one where you said Maybe you should call your vlog "what died this week at Emma's Allotment" ! I agree with trying to film anyone behaving badly towards you, but filming them might make them even worse....

So sorry about your experience. You definitely shouldn’t be made to feel unsafe on your allotment plot. You should definitely let the allotment manager know as the person may do it again if they are an angry person xx

thats allotment life emma; some people are quite competitive, or picky because of the council rules. it doesnt happen often, dont worry about it. when you're at home, think up a smart reply to them. dont grumble on the the web, as they might see it.

Hi Emma, gutted you had to go through meeting a nasty person at the allotment. Please don’t let that person change your routine and what works best for you, obviously I want you safe, but if that’s the case you definitely need to report it. It’s your space, it’s your plot and it’s your time, and they can go and ‘do one’ in my opinion! I would make a point of turning up again next Sunday! Bullies shouldn’t get away with making you feel bad in anyway. ❤❤

Corn can self pollinate but it’s better to cross pollinate, which is why it’s advised to plant corn in tight groups, usually as square, so they can pollinate one another. A gentle shake is helpful but a bit of gentle dusting going from plant to plant pretending you are a bee is even better 🐝

Emma I’m really sorry you had to leave early due to someone’s bad behaviour. Is there a way you can report, for your safety and others on the plots?
I hope since this visit you’ve been back and all was good 🤞

There is a behaviour policy for this borough, if someone has shouted, been aggressive etc you can report them & they will get a warning. Then if it happens again they can get the tenancy terminated. Hopefully you have their plot number.
