I have been observing Annie in particular because she is a candidate for Gentaro's wife.
Her physique is thinner and smaller than I imagined.
Annie is a very energetic girl.

Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAC.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Annie is intelligent, playful, caring and she and Gentaro would be a lovely match. Both would be loving parents. Gentaro has a sweet disposition and temperament wise be a good match for our free spirit Annie.
The Shabani family gave such a big enclosure that is needed for the Momotaro family.
There is a little boy and family that visits Annie. She is very fond of him!

Annie's energetic and playful, a good match for Gentaro. They've grown up in different environments, and could learn from each other.

Annie is funny and I’m sure Gentaro would like her but it would complicate the breeding situation in Japan. Their fathers already share aunts and uncles from opposite sides of the family. Monta deserves a mate too. He’s gorgeous and 39 with no offspring. Maybe Komomo would be good for him. Anyway, I hope they all end up with a mate or at least some company. They aren’t made to be alone 😢

I too often wondered, since there are nano plastic particles....but apparently, the keepers don't deem them an issue, just as we don't when we drink from them. And they don't seem to eat the plastic, they seem to realize they are just holders for the yogurt.
That's Kiyomasa at 7:00. He's always playing toss with round stuff, like food and snowballs. Gentaro and Annie seem a perfect match but the gorilla dna bank in Australia is the go to place for avoiding interbreeding. That's where Shabani and Haoko are from

Annie has plucked a lot of her fur, especially on her stomach, so while she is on the thinner side, the loss of hair makes her look thinner.
Annie-chan and Gentaro would be an interesting couple. Annie has experience with rambunctious males and would, I think, be able to handle Gentaro. It concerned me to see her on the tower chewing on a plastic bottle. I hope the zookeepers remove it. Plastic pieces could cause an intestinal blockage.
I didn't realize handsome Shabani weighed 230 kg, 40 kg more than Momotaro! He’s a big boy. I love watching this family; thank you for the upload. 🦍💜

Regarding Annie as a mommy, I personally believe she'll be a great one. She always lights up when she sees children and she has such a nurturing side towards the others, especially if they are hurt. She's definitely a Daddy's girl, which is my biggest concern. Annie is everything to him so I'm worried how he'll take the separation. I love that you took your time out to come see the Shabani troop! Not sure how far the distance is but this was lovely seeing them on your channel. ❤

She should be ready for breeding now. Sully, from Columbus zoo was only 8 when she delivered an offspring. Our female was 8 at my zoo also, so I'd say she is ready.

There are no other females in Japan-none that are not already related. They would need to get outside their country bloodlines. I doubt they go by "looks"...the SSP in America matches mates based on genes to make the couplings more diverse...outside "family" bloodlines.

Pour mon humble part, même si je sais la nécessité pour le zoo comme pour Gentaro de lui trouver un nouvel environnement, une femelle, même si j’en conviens cette gorille est drôle, intelligente, en revanche et je suis désolée de l’écrire mais je ne la trouve pas aussi esthétiquement attachante que Gentaro.
Il est aussi beau qu’elle manque de traits attractifs. Heureusement les gorilles peut être, se passent de ces considérations, critères de beauté. Mais j’avoue que des petits de Gentaro qui ressemblerait autant à son père, à sa mère et lui, seraient un bel héritage pour le zoo de Kyoto qui l’a sauvé et élevé jusqu’à devenir ce merveilleux blackbak

From what I’ve heard the chances of Annie and Gentaro together is very low. Wish it was true but I believe it won’t happen an that’s because of how poorly the Japanese have managed their breeding program an their gorillas sadly
And to put those two together will compound the problem which started with them taking two brothers

Who is bigger in terms of size? Momotaro or Shabani? I think Shabani looks smaller foor some reason.
I think Momotaro looks stockier is because he's shorter than Shabani
Shabani is heavier but he’s shorter from what I’ve read. He’s around 30 lbs heavier than Momotaro
I heard Chiba was renovating. Maybe a solution for a while would be to send all the boys to Chiba to live with Monta in a much larger enclosure and it won't work if they don't feed more and better food and have a lot of enrichment, and Chiba is not there yet. The. send Rola to live with Genki and Momontaro. Kinney could stay with them until he is ready and then go to the bachelor group. Genki won't like that, but while Genki would be mean to Rola for a while, she isn't really a mean gorilla and they both would eventually adjust. The truth is the silverbacks are in their 30's now and will continue to age. Maybe they could send Rola to live with Taro? In the wild the boys are fine with being in bachelor groups til they mature, and/or are fortunate enough to find some wives. But the most important thing in my view is they go to kind and modern zoos only. ❤
If Chiba is renovating maybe they already know where all the boys are going, or Gentaro and Annie. But Chiba at this time does not take care of the animals well. Rola and Monta have substandard food and care. It is really sad considering they are alone especially. I saw in Karin and Rie's videos that there is a nice keeper now and they are working towards making their lives better, but with the Gorilla exhibit closed right now, I don't know if that can or will continue to be the case. I hope so.

What’s she doing with a plastic bottle?
Looks strange, doesn't it? At Higashiyama they give the gorillas yogurt and, sometimes, they put it in plastic bottles. After squeezing the bottle to get the yogurt out, I guess she ripped it to lick it clean. I have seen them leave the yogurt in the plastic containers and the gorillas eat it from the container. 🦍
Whatever they decide they need to do some type of separation NOW! people talk about Annie but the dad is so attached to HER!! And the two wives SEEM not interested in him.What would happen to his mental state especially if the son is removed. I know all this takes time but they sure need to start something. They dont have enough land there to practice separation until they move them?

Might be a good match, but it seems zoo's ship gorillas all over the world for mating purposes. They recently shipped Lope from England to Frances I believe which must be so stressful for the gorilla. Not only loss of family but to a place where people may not look the same, speak a familiar language, and the environment doesn't even smell the same. It seems like any training that may have done would now be lost too.☹😟🤔

Are you sure about shabani weight ? He looks smaller then momotaro, to me momotaro is taller and huge...shabani isn't 507 pounds there's no way , kaoko weights 480 pounds and he looks way bigger then shabani..

@@Le_coq_sportiff You are right, Momo's dad was Biju; brothers Shabani and Haoko's dad was Kibabu. Kibabu died in 2018 at the age of 41. Biju died before Momo's birth.
I agree Annie and Gentaro could be a good match. But zoos don't often put young gorillas of the same age together as potential breeding partners; they find that females usually prefer older and more mature males, although of course Genki had no problems seducing Gentaro's dad when he was only 10 years old!😂

What makes you think that Annie and Gentaro would be put together ? The two zoos have no contracts between them . Do they plan on breaking their contracts and going outside of them ? 🤔🤔
Since Chiba Zoo is the owner of Gentaro and Higashiyama is the owner of Annie, the agreement will be between those zoos. I'm sure since Gentaro was born at Kyoto, Kyoto will be able to offer their sentiments. Hopefully, both zoos will both think of the welfare of the animals instead of some selfish concern. I certainly hope the zoos consider that there is no other candidate for either of them since all other young gorillas are related either to Momoko or Haoko. (Kiyomasa unable to breed with Momoka or Komomo since Haoko and Shabani are brothers).
@@Charlotte-r I heard they were thinking of Tayari also for Gentaro but that would be a long wait considering Jabali isn’t very old . Personally I hope they break their contracts and put Annie with him but I’m sure they will do their best to make the best match possible . ❤️🦍
@@ladyeagle1509 Really about Tayari? 🤔 I've seen comments about it between RUclipsrs on various videos. Kyoto does have an agreement with Taipei for the loan of animals, and I believe they have done so in the past. Again though, Chiba Zoo owns Momotaro and Gentaro and I'm sure they will have the final say about what happens to Gentaro. I have no idea if Chiba has an agreement with Taipei. I would hate to think they would break apart the D'Jeeco Troop which, for the most part, is a secure group. I don't know how you feel about it, but I personally think it is an awful idea. I do not think they are a good match at all! I just hope someone is considering what is best for Gentaro. It's hard for me to think they would let Gentaro leave Japan since he has the distinction of being the first gorilla born in Japan of parents that were both born in Japan. Good grief, I guess we'll have to wait and see...happy gorilla watching to you!
@@Charlotte-r I understand your concerns I would like to see Annie and Gentaro together also . But I’m sure the zoo will do the best they can to find the best match for Gentaro . I’m pretty sure they would have to break their contract to put Annie with Gentaro. And maybe they will do it 🤷🏻♀️ it will still be a few years before anything is complete. We will see what happens . 🦍❤️

How about leave them be ,I don't think they need to be breeding any more babies when they have no room as it is,that is just bringing another poor animal into the world that has to live it's life caged up forever,it's wrong.
Since Annie and Gentaro are in captivity, they may as well have a chance to mate and enjoy that fulfillment. Hormones will affect their emotional health negatively if they have no outlet.
Annie e uma moça muito amada, Shabani criou sua filha com muito amor, hoje ela tem uma otima relação com a mãe AI, ela é muito divertida, todos na família gostam de brincar com a Annie, eu não acho a Annie feia, ao contrário, ela vai ficar muito parecida com a mãe AI, que é belíssima, Gentaro não é o gorila mais bonito, tem varios mais bonitos, só estou sendo sincera, estão desmerecendo a Annie e não acho isso legal, já está na hora de fazer o planejamento para Kintaro, não é porque ele vai arrumar uma fêmea agora, ele ainda não tem idade, mas é porque os anos passam muito rápido, na verdade voam, e vai acontecer a mesma situação do Gentaro, não é justo com esses gorilas, olha o exemplo absurdo do que estão fazendo com o Monta e a Laura, é necessário ter um planejamento para os gorilas, pensar no Gentaro e também em Kintaro, eles merecem ter uma família, não ficar para sempre em um acampamento de solteiros, planejamento e estratégia é muito importante.
Take Annie away and you will have one very angry silverback. She is also not even close to being ready to mate and have a baby. Gentaro also needs some solitary time to mature, he still sucks his finger. My feeling is he will be a mean silverback. These zoos need to be careful they don't start inbreeding.
A mean silverback? Gentaro? I disagree. He's a sweet, sensitive fellow. I believe, if he and Annie are paired together, they will be a wonderful match, and will have lots of beautiful babies. Gentaro would finally have a life filled with love and joy.
I agree with you, it is apparent that Shabani will miss Annie - they seem close. However, there is video evidence that Annie and her half-brother, Kiyomasa, have mated.
As far as Gentaro sucking his finger - sometimes gorillas that go through artificial nursing do so.
I believe Gentaro has a wonderful disposition and would be a great mate to any female gorilla! However, since Annie and her mother Ai, are the only females not related to Gentaro in Japan, there aren't other choices. I'd hate for Gentaro to spend a lonely, solitary life while Annie lives with her brother. In my opinion, that is disaster for both of them.
@@jossetteking4967 Hi Jossette, remember years back when Gentaro acted like a parent by holding a young Kintaro or giving him a ride on his back? I agree, he is very sensitive, and he is so deserving of his own family.
