the official announcement from Higashiyama Zoo about Nene. ↓ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We would like to give an update on Nene. For the past two weeks, we have been keeping Nene alone and keeping her in the indoor exhibit room in order to prioritize her physical condition and to avoid group problems. For Nene's future recovery, we moved her from the indoor exhibit room to the basement bedroom (non-public area) on Wednesday, September 25. On the day of the move, her legs were noticeably weak. However, on Thursday, September 26, we were able to confirm that she was moving around in the bedroom. She was also using all four limbs to move around while floating her body. on Friday the 27th, we also observed her behavior of climbing ladders, and we could see that she was gradually regaining muscle strength in her limbs. We will continue to work on Nene's recovery as well as the mental care of the other gorillas (Shabani, Ai, Kiyomasa and Annie). We will not be able to resume indoor viewing for a while, but we ask for your warm support. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- and You can see a recent photo of Nene at the link below. www.higashiyama.city.nagoya.jp/blog/2024/09/post-5064.html

Thank you so much for the update ❤️ Glad to hear Nene has her own room now..hopefully she can get well. Still glad they are still separated from Nene, I think they would hurt her again....except for her daughter AI...she seems gentle with her mom.❤
Thank goodness! Grateful for the update! I hope she will be more comfortable. We are thinking of you Nene! We have not given up on you! Your family loves you and misses you so much! Be well darling! Stay strong group!❤️
I really wish they would allow Ai in with NeNe. That would help Ai so much. She is so worried about her mother. Now they have moved her again they are unable to see her from outside
Totally agree. Ai is such a phenomenal daughter, and I feel like it would help Nene as well. They have such a special bond, and from what I've seen, Ai has always been a strong supporter for her momma, too.
This troop hasn't had a very good year. Life is one step at a time. Yesterday is history Tomorrow is a mystery Today is the present & that is why they call it a gift. Ty for the update.😊
❤ Thank you for the update! I really appreciate it! Still praying for NeNe's recovery! She is very old for a gorilla, and I know it takes time for her to heal. I can see the concerns for her by the other gorillas. ❤ I'm so glad they are eating again! 🦍❤🙏
I think they should let Ai to sit with her Mom a little every day. However, it would probably upset the other members of the group. I just think it might help NeNe feel better.
I think that's a great idea. Because through all the videos, I've never seen AI, lay a hand on her Mom, or try to bite her. She has always been loving and supportive.

Ai, my sweetie, you are such a joy to follow on SAG and other channels. You are my fav, but I love them all. Excellent bipedal walking girl. 1:25-1:30. You make me laugh.🤣 I❤🦍 Thinking of you Nene😥💔 Thank you SAG for the update!
Hallelujah! That's the way to let someone convalesce. I'm glad she's isolated and allowed to recover without being harassed. I know her family doesn't mean to hurt her, but they were slowing down her recovery.
I honestly don’t believe the gorillas interpret the keepers as being disrespectful dropping food down to them from above. An alternate way to consider this is as a form of mental stimulation that’s beneficial to the animals. I also think it may permit each gorilla to receive a “fair share” of the tastier morsels. As we know, Kiyomasa is apt to grab some of the choicer vegetables before any of the other gorillas have a chance to get to it - Italian rye grass in particular. And I did notice the keeper seemed to be intentionally dropping certain chunks directly to Annie.
Everybody thinks they know best..im leaving this to the experts. I will kerp shanani and his family in my thoughts. ❤ this was my secomdary group Got inyrested watching Jameela and then Freddy and the group. But when i got recamended this channel. I feel in love with the Nene/Ai dynamic and the Ai/Annie dynamic. Thanks for all your updates. ❤
I am very curious why everyone is so extatic about NeNe "getting better" if she has to crawl around on all 4s that is not getting better. If her legs are that weak that she is crawling, I don't see at her advanced gorilla age the optimism of her recovery. It is possible, anything is possible, but I am wondering how probable it is that recovery to the point she can be with the rest of the troop and withstand their rough housing. Does everyone see that as a possibility? #1 NeNe is completely out of view. Why is that so the public will not see a gorilla crawling around, who has no dignity or quality of life. As not need to deal with public outrage and concern? There are no oncrete answers as to what the physical issue is? What are they doing about it? What is the prognosis? There is no transparency like other zoos and I find this very concerning. If NeNe recovers and goes back to the troop wonderful!!! However, I am preparing for the possibility that she will not recover. I also agree Ai should be able to go between enclosures, but I have no idea how easy that would be
I feel so much love for this gorilla family. Especially, grandma Nene 💖. I’m curious as to what types of medical treatment Nene is receiving, if any. At first, I thought her illness was related to her age. However, later I read that she had fallen from a high position. Did she, indeed, fall? If so, what kind of medical evaluation did she receive to diagnose her injuries? What treatment has she received for her injuries?
I don't know if they took Nene to give her medical intervention or what. If they just took her and placed her in a room isolated...it's wrong. She and the family will suffer more than if they where allowed to be with her and if she passes...they would have closure. I sincerely pray she heals and comes back to her family.
Why are we not getting updates on nene and being allowed to see her in her current recuperating area nene has fans who love her myself included please update for fans like me who doesn't use Facebook etc ❤
Thank u for the update but u still didn’t tell us what is wrong with her and if she’s receiving medication. I’m glad she is showing improvement but if the problem was injuries how do u keep it from happening again but thank u for what u did share
The zoo keepers and vets are doing their jobs. Some have said she showed signs of a stroke awhile ago. But I saw her take a fall. This person dosent have full access to all the info. Go follow the zoo. This isn't about us and what we need. It's about Nene and this family of beautiful intelligent beasts.
Why are they NOT CLEANING UP HER AREA??? YOU CAN SEE POO & PEE ON THE FLOOR & THAT MESS HAS BEEN LEFT SINCE THEY PUT HER ALONE IN THAT ROOM. UTTERLY DISGRACEFUL
My guess.... #1gorillas are wild animals, despite being in a zoo #2 an injured animal is an unstable animal, prone to attacking (doesn't matter that she is having issues with her legs) #3 from what I've seen, they usually move the animals to a different area then block off access for them return All of which create a safe environment for the zookeepers to go in and clean their spaces. Once done, the humans leave, doors are closed, and animals are allowed to return. So why aren't they cleaning the space? Simple, health and safety for all involved, both human and animal. I suspect that now that Nene is in the basement, perhaps we shall see that enclosure cleaned and then reopened for access to the rest of the troop.
I appreciate your response and I realize all of what you said. But from what I've seen, she hasn't been moving much, I'm sure they're ways to at least clean up some areas. Especially when they're shown in the room w/her throwing food at, or towards her. Cleaning the opposite side at least partially wouldn't be out of the question. Which brings me to my other point. Why is she just being left to suffer without any apparent medical intervention.... I have read and seen some horrific things about this zoo and the treatment of the Gorillas, and others. So I'm unconvinced that they're actually properly and humanely caring for Nene.
Just joking 😂😂😂 Annie is more than likely thinking Nene grandma come on let’s fight again you know you miss that 😂😂😂. The whole troop check’s in on Nene butttttt Ai more she loves her mum🥰🥰🥰
The reason they moved her was more likely to be it had not been cleaned in several weeks and Nene has had to move around in a filthy room and maybe to reduce the families stress and get them back in the main room. I don't personally think Nene will get better, it's been to long.
Yes that crossed my mind but the treatments are working ,she is even walking and getting stronger, they will not let her in that viewing room for a while , I am sure it’s the best for her right now ,💟
She is 52 years old. Im more concerned about her quality of life vs quantity. What are you doing to treat her. If isolation is your only solution then shame on you.
I know most will disagree, but I find it disrespectful and just wrong to throw food down to the animals I just don't think it's right regardless that they are animals,I would rather walk around and place it around for them instead of being lazy and throwing it at them.
@@ChristineCole-kl4vu in this zoo they rarely do this, but I think it could be the fact they had seperate the family. This way of feeding them is a European thing. There has been a lot of things that's changed for this troop this year.✌️
Also doing it that way keeps them from having to lock them inside while spreading it around on their grounds....the San Diego Safari Park tosses food from above also....I think it's more convenient for both the keepers and the animals.
I don’t disagree. I think that whole zoo is a sight. Cement ? 🙁 most of the zoos I follow place food on the ground and put it into baskets that they have to work some to get it out. They don’t throw it at them. At least they get fed. I guess that’s something positive
If she's been in that room for the past 2 weeks by herself how was she able to make that big mess all over the floor like that. As I said before I don't believe for a second the troop has been separated from her . From the looks of the floor they been in that room.maybe after zoo hours!
I thought that perhaps they weren't able to clean it with Nene in there. I know she's old and has been infirm, but she's still a gorilla. I don't think they would let the others in with her, because they didn't know how to behave towards her. That's why they had to be separated. They didn't understand, and were trying to get her up and moving about, sometimes by running up and grabbing or hitting her. Like they would usually do if they were instigating a chase for example.
Treat her pain, give her medications, Some human ibuprofen to reduce the inflammation within her joints keeping her from moving!! Keeping her farther and farther away from her family is the worst possible thing for her, At least allow them to see each other!!! I heard some horrific things about this zoo, I am starting to believe the things I've heard, the horrific care for the animals health, the disgusting, horrific living conditions.... The inexperience and the unqualified keepers caring for animals they know little to nothing about proper care, or maybe it's they just don't care and these animals are only there to keep making them money. This entire situation is animal cruelty, not only is NeNe left suffering physically, she is also being made to suffer emotionally, as well as the rest of her family along with her. At least allow them to see one another. Knowing she is within eye sight will help ease the anxiety & despair within them all. For you all to remove NeNe from their sight and them hers, it's seems as if you're trying to cause nene to give up, thinking she has been abandoned by her family leaving her no will to recover so she will die, And with the rest you're forcing them to move on without her as if she has already passed on, not allowing them to deal with this in the proper way in which these families deal with these situations without IGNORANT PEOPLE CAUSING MORE HARM THAN GOOD!! SEEMS SHADY TO ME THAT YOU ALL ARE NOW HIDING Nene from the public and her mate and children, and grandchild!!
@@jasmijncyrine3862 🙄🙄 and just HOW do YOU know for a certainty that NENE suffers from **Rheumatoid Arthritis**???? It’s NOT as if the zoo has been at aLL TRANSPARENT in assuaging the Concerns of the Viewing Public about Nene’s HeaLth. THEREFORE, we are left to our own Anxious thoughts and Misconceptions as to What EXACTLY is the zoo’s Plan to LESSEN the family’s Physical and Emotional Pain. It’s NO LAUGHING MATTER and it’s disgusting that Anyone would mock another’s Heartfelt sentiments in this regard. Seek Help!!!
@ElizabethLizziBennett33 👍🏽 Great comment, and I agree with you wholeheartedly. This zoo is ANNOYING and ALIENATING many of their viewers by their LACK of Transparency re NENE’s **HeaLth**
I am absolutely disgusted in how these poor Gorillas are kept!! Nobody has cleaned inside and the diet they are given is grossly inadequite. They need to be reported to authorities
What? This troop has always had a very good and varied diet. The large indoor enclosure hasn't been cleaned because Nene was pretty much "housebound" in there. Now that she's been moved to one of the downstairs "bedrooms" I'm sure the keepers will have the main room cleaned as usual.
This troop have always be well fed with vegetables, grass, yogurt etc. you should check your eyes and i have been there and i saw personally that the keepers clean the rooms when the gorillas are outside.
Check out kyoto zoo momotaro troop rarely get fresh vegetables I've saw them fighting over carrots no tomatoes leeks zucchini withered leaves gentaro and kintaro get hit by their dad on a daily basis cruelest thing I saw was they gave genuinely and momotaro pumpkins and none to their children kintaro tried to take a bit from genuinely and she slapped him hard I had tears in my eyes 😢

She is 52 years old. Im more concerned about her quality of life vs quantity. What are you doing to treat her. If isolation is your only solution then shame on you.
네네의 건강 문제에 대한 확실한 정보를 얻고 싶은데, 다친 것 때문이라면 CT나 Xray를 찍어봤는지,골절 판정인 것인지 대중들에게 투명하게 공개하지 않는다고 느낀다.
That’s exactly what I said!!
I don’t disagree. I think that whole zoo is a sight. Cement ? 🙁 most of the zoos I follow place food on the ground and put it into baskets that they have to work some to get it out. They don’t throw it at them. At least they get fed. I guess that’s something positive
@@beckyhodges4287 Haoko and his troop get fresh veggies as they have a veggie garden, always fresh food.
If she's been in that room for the past 2 weeks by herself how was she able to make that big mess all over the floor like that. As I said before I don't believe for a second the troop has been separated from her . From the looks of the floor they been in that room.maybe after zoo hours!
She was moved to a basement room to recover. So they are probably letting them back in the room in the evening
@brownrabbit61 Possibly however this doesn't make any sense. You leave a sick gorilla in a filthy room .I don't think soo ..More going on here .

@LisaPFMoore ok ill take one! Lol
It’s sad that they just throw the food to them it’s not right and they are sitting on cement
They choose the concrete. They have dirt and grass.
Yeah because Ibrufen works for Rheumatoid artritis 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I think they get lots of varieties here ..leeks, tomatoes eggplant, cabbage, cucumbers, etc....not sure what vid you are watching?
Check out kyoto zoo momotaro troop rarely get fresh vegetables I've saw them fighting over carrots no tomatoes leeks zucchini withered leaves gentaro and kintaro get hit by their dad on a daily basis cruelest thing I saw was they gave genuinely and momotaro pumpkins and none to their children kintaro tried to take a bit from genuinely and she slapped him hard I had tears in my eyes 😢
Genuinely mother
What is her official diagnosis, an illness or her age ?❤😢
Nene was born in 1972.
