Blender is free
Chad.
Ouch😂
But not in VR ? I want blender VR soon !
Vr is coming soon to Blender
@@torytatsumaki uhm that thing already exists….you just need to download it through an addon
Adobe- Here is our VR 3D modeling software.
The comments- bUt BleNDer...
Yes as much as I love Blender and get why people advocate for it, but honestly they gotta stop assuming that those who so much LOOK at the trailers for other CG apps are ignorant of it or have made informed decisions to choose other paid apps over Blender.
Blender is free.
Ok, instead of just saying “blender”, I have actually looked into this a little. This tool appears to be a hybrid between hard surface and sculpting. The modeling process in this tool is very organic and still has a reasonable amount of precision, it can get to 70% fidelity crazy fast, never seen a tool like this. The UI and tools are very intuitive, likely will be helpful for people new to 3d.
Not all sunshines and rainbows though. You have zero control over the topology and unpredictable UVs. I make game characters, which means unfortunately I can’t really use this very much. The most I can use this at is during the blockout stage.
For product render this is probably it, as you do not need good topology, predictable UVs, nor 100% fidelity.
In a lot of programs, dont artist draw their own UVs? I feel like the quest pro would be really good with this somehow.
@@citizenz580 you CAN automate UVs in most programs, but the results are very unpredictable. Game characters need UVs to be properly stacked and more detailed areas to have larger resolution. Automated UVs are always the same size and have far too many pieces, result in terrible texture seams and blurred textures in the final model.
In terms of working in VR, sculpting can be very interesting with VR. You can never get a good view or properly move surfaces on a flat screen, I would really like to give it a try.
@@fmtris8064 Wait how dont you have control over topology? Also the more I think about it I agree about UVs, idk why I thought it was a good idea, however with some pushes in software, I think they could make it good in VR. At the end of the day, the idea of quest pro is to do as much as you can in VR, and swap to PC and get the rest done. In the future that will change, but this is where were at. Lot better than 2015/2016 when VR became a reality.
@@citizenz580 VR is pretty cool, but unfortunately, I don't know much about it, definitely willing to give a try if I have the chance. About the no control over the topology, this software runs on voxels. What does run on voxels mean? Every mesh has millions of polygons, while a mesh with controlled topology in games will have hundreds. You CAN technically use a mesh with millions of polygons, but it is nearly impossible to generate predictable UVs with unpredictable topology. Most importantly, your computer goes ballistic when you rig it.
@@fmtris8064 oh yes I know all about this, it’s my least favorite thing to work with. I just feel like VR could make retopology so much easier. What I meant when I mentioned drawing UVs was actually drawing the lower poly mesh over the high poly. I forget the name of the method, but in some programs you just draw over the high poly mesh in 3d with either your mouse or drawing pad.
Wow, nice feature! I love Blender

Using blender is a choice when you can just as easily take adobe products lol.
Oh sweet, thanks for announcing the next few features blender will have in a few months.
Adobe Can you consider adding some alternative plans? As several apps I never use i would happily swap for a Substance app.
The plan 'Creative Cloud All Apps' should include Substance apps?!!
yep, big time. this feels like a huge rip off for me to pay for the twice as expensive substance package when i really only need painter and modeler. will just stick to medium for vr sculpting until something else better and less price gougey comes along
Seeing this demoed at MAX made me a believer. When the member demoing threw on the Quest 2, I was sold!
Who would have ever thought that of everyone, Adobe is the one to make Signed Distance Field based modelling a viable thing...
Is it viable? It's a pale shadow of zbrush and any of the big 3d softwares
Love Modeler so much!! 🤩🙌 Most fun I've ever had in any 3D software hands down. Seriously, if you guys haven't tried sculpting in VR before, it's such a fun experience. I absolutely love all of the love and effort that's gone into Modeler, the Md team is amazing!! 😍❤🥰
Wish I could. I do have a Quest 2.. But it’s only available through a PC and I have a mac..
as usual lol. macs get screwed
Its fun and all, but i dont see myself working in production with stuff like this honestly
I don't believe you.
VR Sculpting is godsend for 3D printing related work.
- Usually do not care about topology.
- VR is the fastest to blockout 3D Shape (still can export to ZBrush for detailing anyday).
- No camera distortion you get printed model exactly as you see in VR, even only use for inspection is wroth it.
Only I can trhink off ATM. By the way I'm still using desktop apps, just use VR for what it's good at.
Thanks for giving the folks at blender a new idea
😂😂😂
Blender can do those things since long time ago
xD
Finally! Been looking forward to this 👍👍
A concrete release date or even an estimated launch for Mac users would be nice. As a subscriber and Adobe shareholder, it’s been really frustrating to get vague answers for months while the stock price continues to tank. Love the potential for these products and appreciate the work from the devs, but I’m very disappointed.
No. Mac's suck
Why should I ever learn adobe tools if I can never own them and will be forced to rent them forever?
Blender is free. Substance has a persistent license (until adobe kills it).
Looks like a cool software but... can we use it without the bane of paying monthly or having it be attached to other programs I have no interest in...?
Last year Adobe hinted that there was more to come to their Steam perpetual announcement, so I assume this Black Friday it will probably appear.
Planning to release on Steam like others?
yes
Looks interesting, it's a shame it'll be hidden behind Adobe's renting plans
Aparently it wont be. You will be able to buy it out right through Steam, according to Adobe
@@hectorescobar9450 Hopefully. The other adobe products on steam are $150.
@@citizenz580 Sometimes they are on sales, I think i got my substance painter for like 50bucks
I'd wish they have plan just for modeler, I have no use for any of the other substance apps.
Looks almost as good as Blender. Wow, 5 packages that could be replaced with one program
This and Blender are for amateurs... Blender is awesome considering it's free. But in the pro world no one uses it...
@@mouaadjaaidi5011 i don’t think it’s aimed for that
@@mouaadjaaidi5011 blender is now used by mainstream vfx studios such as Barnstorm. The only current limitation to blender adoption is old pipelines designed for Maya and legacy plugins. Pros do use blender, studios just don’t want to adopt it
@@mouaadjaaidi5011 "Pro World", are you sure?
@@LFPAnimations Yeah. Many pros do use Blender. But I said what you said, in the professional world, if you are not by yourself, you won't be using Blender. And maybe in a few years that will change, but I don't think so... Who is behind Blender? Everybody? Nobody? That's a very important factor for a big studio.
is this software ok for the absolute beginner?
Will they be developing mobile versions of thisto compete with Nomad and forger? The ui looks very minimal and suitable for and their,
appears to be someon e using a mobile device with a tablet. Unless its a Wacom tablet I suppose. Looks promising but i think many users will optfor the free options in blender.
So a kit bashing voxel modeler Zbrush, Mudbox and so many others already mastered, even playstation's dreams is good at that.
Na, I think I'll stick with blender but Substance Painter and Designer are still king of the mat texture scene .
others already mastered that in VR? i don't think so.
Kind of odd comparisons considering Substance 3D Modeler is a VR sculpting software, and Dreams is the only one of the ones you mentioned that lets you sculpt in VR, at least for now. While Dreams is cool and all, it can't even make 3D models for use outside of Dreams. 🤷♂ If you want to compare Substance 3D Modeler to other software, compare it to Kodon or Masterpiece Studio or something.
@@aledmb why in the f would you need VR for this? it's a gimmick.
@@isawedthedemons so you can throw up at work every day at 3pm
@@Yngvr Yep, my opinion exactly....as a 3d modeler i didn't see anything i need with current tools already out for so many years.
I am currently using ZBrush on my laptop and Gravity Sketch on Oculus (Meta). I have a lot of Adobe products including Substance Painter. I am extremely interested in this new modeling app. I tend to love ZBrush for it's details but I still have a lot to learn. Gravity Sketch I use for things that just don't require the level of detail that ZBrush gives and it gets me away from the laptop. (chuckle) Working in VR with mesh models is very different and not for everyone I think. I do like Gravity Sketch for a change of pace but the capabilities just aren't there... yet. This product seems to be a lot like Gravity Sketch... but with a lot more abilities. Also, am I correct that it can be used in VR and on a laptop or tablet? Also noticing in the examples provided in the video that there's actually not a a lot of detailed work. That concerns me. The end product reminds me a great deal of Gravity Sketch. I'm not familiar with VR on Steam either. I'm not a huge gamer I guess. Can someone help fill me in on some of the comparisons with ZBrush and Gravity Sketch... and if this product will be on Oculus (Meta)?
Anyone knows if there will be a Steam Version again?
Very nice! Curious about the iPad Pro showing up at the 0:45 mark. What’s that all about?
This could be a real competitor to Modo and Rhino in the 3D Graphics Industry. 🚀
Wow this looks super fun
Is a graphic tablet kinda need to work efficiently with this way of... Modeling?
Alpha as sculpting tool? Retopo?Preserve texture when modeling a 3d scan?
This looks pretty fun!
How do you even control topology on this thing
shoutout to my wallet for always holdin it down, you a real one🥰
When will it be released on Mac OS?
That one small shot. It looks like you could use your ipad pro with it. With the apple pencil.
ugh this is a bummer that its not included with the reasonably priced yearly substance sub, definitely not paying a bunch extra for this and other useless 3d apps i dont need. will probably stick with medium for a while, that definitely does what i need best.
My guess is that not many will switch over till that happens.
what does it work with, meta or some other VR?!?!
seems like a nice new approach
the nintendo switch of modelling software almost
At 0:44, why did we see someone working on an iPad Pro ? Any plan to release Substance Suite on iPad os ??
No plans. What you are seeing is an iPad pro used as external monitor (Duet display).
Congratulations!
Why is this not part of the Creative Suite?
So Adobe can make more money from you!
Hahaha, you serious?
What a shame that this software still only supports Oculus and their documentation goes and tells you to download ReVive instead of just adding support to the Index. Having the proper controller show up while modeling would make it less cumbersome.
It’s just the first release, other headsets will be supported in the future.
@@nicolasliatti They've had a couple of years to support the other headsets, this software is just a super upgraded Oculus Medium (they acquired the software). I'm not gonna hold my breathe on other headsets getting official support anytime soon, it took them years to implement the ability to paint over multiple texture sets and fix UDIM support in Painter 3D.
@@Floreum I am actually leading the product team :)
It is the same team as Medium, but it’s a totally new software. You can totally stick to Medium if you want, all what I am saying is that it’s just a 1.0, and thus kew features will come along in the future.
yeah but can i watch a tutorial in vr?
At the 0:44 mark, it looks like some one is using this software on an iPad with a Apple Pencil, yet the website states Windows only . . . or is that a MS Surface?
Nice catch. At first I thought that was just a touch screen PC. But it is indeed an Apple Pencil that person is holding. Maybe the new iPad pro with the M2 chip can handle this. Or they are probably just doing a touch up post production work in Photoshop or something. I am upset that we are not getting a Mac version. I only have macs and was really looking forward to this application. I'm gonna have to stick with blender for now
@@jamainedobson2582 Apple tends to over exaggerate their upgrades, I imagine the M1 iPad Pro can handle just as much as the M2 chip. At least you can 3D sculpt on an iPad with Nomad Sculpt and at some point later this year, No Man’s Sky is coming to the iPad.
i dont want to have to pay for more programs when i already have creative cloud jsut to make a 3d wall... thats all i want it for and photoshop keeps bugging out trying to make a simple wall so annoying.
Would this be a better modelling tool than those in Maya? Would love to see how those compare
Lol no way. Its nice for adobe to have but it isnt going to stop Maya

I really like what I'm seeing. I would love to try it but imagine to my surprise when I went to my Creative Cloud account and saw it wasn't there. As a matter of fact all substance apps have been take away. So Adobe you're telling me not only do I have to pay $54.99 for a subscription that suppose to already include ALL APPS but another $49.99 subscription if I want to use any substance apps or probably $149 if I want to buy it standalone. I mean WTF.
I rather not use VR to model with. Millions of artist modeled without VR anyway. What about saving files and exporting into game engines? And what about animation of characters and scenic elements or even key framing for an example automobiles?
Oh so it's basically blender but worse
If only I could buy this, rather than rent it....
Cmon Adobe! We need Image import for reference and a useful system to have size metrics.
This is the beginning of the journey, you can expect a lot of improvements in the coming months and years
Too bad not included in my adobe suite.
Actually this software is easier and more efficient to use than blender for modelling since during work process you only focus on specific pipeline. Also with this software you dont need to deal with retopo optimization.
Ok but how do you UV unwrap?

The other thing is that it is half-baked in the sense that technology is here, but the interface is dreadful. I really hope they'll do something with it, like throwing the current one to replaced it with something better, otherwise such a brilliant software would be useless and forgotten.

Can't buy blender (It belongs to public)its open source and Zbrush is already bought by Maxon.
buy blender...
Blame the hardware manufacturers and how they code drivers for the various platforms - This is out of Adobe's hands.
They will buy Pixologic, it is just a matter of time... Adobe has the habit of buying companies that develop competing software just to either kill those apps or incorporate as theirs. Nothing new. Aldus Software... Macromedia... there is quite a list of now extinct companies because Adobe bought them.
Is this free for students?
Yes! It’s included in the free Student license: substance3d.adobe.com/education/
Windows only
Ohh yes of course make them all separate softwares to increase salary
So that's why they funded heavily on Blender
Looks like a more user friendly maya

I feel like my PC would explode 😂
Nah, can’t beat Blender anyway. Keep trying

Intuitive modelling and sculpting in VR? I think that's quite far away still. There have been experimental attempts but nothing as extensive and intuitive as this.
@@Elgsdyr probably because you might've not known it exists now. There have been some such as Medium and Gravity Sketch
@@LarnrothSDergan I was referring to Blender as an alternative to what is shown in this video.
Okay, i'll use blender
so instead of improving designer, you decided to add this garbage that no one wanted or asked for. designer was never meant for this - it's an image compositing program. there are so many improvement that could be made, but you continually ignore requests.
Yeah, I agree with “Blender is free” statement. But inside of industry, they prefer a self-made/original software or a fully supported 3rd party engine.
Why? When a company having a bug or feature they doesn’t have in the software. They can simply build it themselves (if it was their) or ask the 3rd party to add the feature for them. If EA using Blender and wanting to modified something by paying the developer, some (not all) people will annoyed and screaming they want that for free too!
But Blender have many add-ons! Yeah that’s the problem, there’s to many. It’s cheaper to buy but better and less risk if they made it their-self, they can’t just simply trust an add-ons
This Adobe’s new app will absolutely help AAA industry. While most of independent artists prefer free alternative

Just stick with Blender. Someone will make a VR mode for it sooner or later. Then hopefully it will sort out texture layering and continue with its nodes everything, completely replacing everything Adobe can offer in game/animation pipelines. Companies still doing paid software will be overtaken by ones that offer free software with a marketplace e.g. Unreal Engine. And good riddance to Adobe ever since they went with a subscription model, complete money hungry corpo that should be avoided on principle.
But Unreal does not require you to give your code for free to everyone.
