MOTHER in this song is super over protective. Mumma will put all her fears into you. She will keep you frightened of the big wide world and dependant on her. Pinks Father by this point was killed in WW2 so Mumma only has her baby boy

Great job! I can't imagine trying to translate Pink Floyd into Italian on the first listen. This is my favorite band and my favorite album (well, tied with the Dark Side of the Moon, but that's a discussion for another time). Please keep it up, I enjoyed your energy and your discovery!
The song "Mother" tells of the main character's overbearing Mother, who, having lost her husband in WWII, tries to fill his shoes in raising Pink (the main character), but who succeeds only in protecting him too much, causing yet another Brick to be built in The Wall. The Wall, of course, is Pink's response to life, as he builds a shell around himself mentally ( a Wall actually).
The story of Pink continues from here, into manhood. It is similar to an opera, where the theme of disillusionment and isolation grows inside of Pink until -- well you'll have to hear the rest of the album to find that out lol.

If I need to keep one, I'll keep TDSOTM, but as we live in real life, I can't remove one of the golden arc (Dark Side -> The Wall)...
And I love previous work, and Syd's one a lot. It's hard to select one, as every step build up from the previous ones. A house without foundations doesn't stay intact.

When you've finished this album, I would recommend you look up some of their live performances of tracks from this album, particularly their Pulse concert.
They sound even better than this studio version.
And then...*do* try to find and view 'The Wall' movie, it will put images and context to what you just heard.
It'll blow your mind.

In my top 5 of the best albums ever made, formed an integral part of my life as when I was a teen this album/movie was played at every party every weekend in my crew... while partaking in various illegal substances and having the best of times with subsequently lifelong friends! Absolute gold every song, my personal fave being Young Lust, but pure brilliance from start to finish and genuinely influenced my life and morals up to this day. X

OMG Fredericka would see all the Dangers signs as Pink (Mr Pink Floyd the Rock Star) if she could see lyrics in Italian as later Pink becomes isolated abusive and eventually insane

Roger Moore is not a Pink Floyd member, he's an actor. The electric guitarist is David Gilmour and the co lead singer was Roger Waters who played acoustics.

Roger Waters father was actually killed at Anzio in WW2. They think from a Stuka which is why you get the Stuka Jericho horn in the album.
Hey, piano, piano on the Italian. For those of us trying to follow. You talk too fast. The album is the tragic story of the main character named "Pink" as he builds a wall of isolation to protect himself from the harsh realities of life. The second half of the album then explorers the consequences of that isolation. If you listened very very close to the very beginning you will note that the album is an endless loop. An endless loop that plays in the head of Pink over and over.
Besides the introductory material, each song is a brick in Pink's life. The death of his father in the war, the mistreatment by the education system, and the over-protection of his mother. That ends side 1. The bricks will keep coming through side 2.
The bass player Roger Waters is the creator of the concept in the album and most of the incidents reflect his life personally. The irony here though is Roger Waters never let his "bricks" hold him back. He met those challenges and overcame them. His founding bandmate Syd Barrett though could not handle the pressures of the rock band. He self medicated himself into oblivion. The band left him behind and he lived out his life as a recluse in the town of his birth.
