Hey guys! This is a re upload of a cover I did a few months back.
A few people commented that I didn't nail the Moises mix and sucked out too much of the original track. I agree.
So this is a new and hopefully better mix. And I've added in the isolated drums immediately after the cover.

This has gotta be one of the most anxiety-inducing songs of all time after the film.
J.K Simmons was amaaazing as the brutal slave driving music/ensemble director/teacher. Oscar worthy imho. I'm certain there's been plenty of teachers of that kind in most of the more renowned music academies that killed many musicians' aspirations. From what I've learnt about MI (GIT, PIT etc.) and the little I know about modern Berkley it's unusual.

As great as the film is, I can’t imagine someone getting away with that kind of behavior at a major university, particularly these days.
I’m sure there are demanding, borderline-abusive professors out there, but nowhere near as extreme as Fletcher was portrayed.
supposedly he was based off a real instructor. I'd believe it.
Personally having gone to jazz school. I felt the flick captured the mental pressure of it. There was no physical abuse at my institution.
Bit more like Top Gun. Competitive and subtle ways to pressurize the situation.

Haven't read all the comments, but a lot of them and not a mention of the amazing drummer Ralph Humphrey who played on the signature version of this tune by Don Ellis Band. Ralph died recently, remembered mostly for his work with Frank Zappa. RIP Ralph!

Really well played with nice dynamics. Yes, your drum covers sound sooo much better on an acoustic drum set than an e-kit. I don't know how much you practiced this piece but it's a doozy (and waaaay out of my amateur league).
I'm a long time guitarist (since 1991) and I only meddle/play with drums for fun since I have a drummer that knows his stuff but I know enough to have the ability to appreciate the difficulties when learning songs/pieces from scratch (no drummer jokes here, we make fun of our bass player ;) ). Using Drumeo is a great tool to learn, practice and memorize all the patterns and overall playing when it comes to drums. The next step after that is the long road of memorizing the entire piece and "program" your muscle motor neurons to instinctively know what to play without having to think, read the score or play over an existing drum track. It's basically the same process as with most other instruments. Musicians obviously have different strengths in how they approach learning stuff. I have a few friends that can play complex pieces on the piano, clarinet etc. (classical, jazz etc.) purely a prima vista and I'm still completely flabbergasted.
When I sit down to learn a song in sheet form (notes or tabs) I take my time. If it's just chords it's not a problem but when things become busier or more complex I go one or two measures at a time. The process of reading->interpreting->processing->playing without having all that programmed into my brain without slowing down or making mistakes is just.. nope.. People playing A prima vista are geniuses in my eyes and ears.
This is not a sight read!
