I love to watch how respectful you are of your animals and how clean you keep their pens. Too many farmers here in Calif. leave their cows in mud up to their knees all winter and in the hot sun with no shade in the summer. Cruelty to animals is a big problem too. You're a breath of fresh air, so young and with awesome ethics.

I am fairly new to your channel and I must say I am impressed by your guys operation, I ran a much smaller one with only a few head but you guys wow lol. I'm retired now and passed the torch down but sure miss this. Thanks for posting some great videos of farm life, without you guys the world without dairy wouldn't be a world at all. I don't think the everyday person realizes how much work it really takes to put that glass of milk on the table or in their bowl of cereal every morning. My opinion I think every city kid should at least work on a dairy farm or harvest crew at least once in their lifetime just to see how rewarding it truly is and man up some of them. Sorry not trying to be harsh but these spoiled little brats today wouldn't last one hour doing what you do. Thanks for your contribution to the world. God bless. Oh and your funny to listen to when it comes to the mysteriously appearing can of Pop that just shows up out of nowhere haha awesome.

I really enjoy your videos, they take me down memory lane. I was 3rd generation dairy farmer, milked cows for 30 years from 12 years old. We had been in business for over 60 years. Went out of business in 2016 after many miserable years of poor milk prices and rising expenses. I miss it every day. Wish you and your family the best, future looks tough with increasing anti dairy mentality everywhere. Truly sad. Corn crop looks awesome makes great forage.

We are a beef operation and I _HATE_ pinkeye. If your herd gets it here, you'll fight it the rest of the summer. We also use the mastitis cream in the eye along with oxytetracycline. The combo works very well. Our vet takes eye cultures from cattle they treat and develops a custom pinkeye vaccine specific to the strains found in our area. That has been the best thing we've done to prevent pinkeye outbreaks by far.

You will have to ask your veterinarian but the pick eye bacteria could be in the steel in the head locks or in the wood where the cows are housed so when I gets hot out the cows can get pinkeye because it’s growing. Not really sure if it work like that will pinkeyes but just something to think about

Pink eye is kinda like flu, in that there are many strains. Some vaccines have three different strains and still are not effective. I have vaccinated and had many cases, and have not and had none. For me it seems, better off controlling flies, and long grass, and any other irritant.

Hey Eric! Good to see another video from you! That's always good! I see as usual you are busy busy busy! The work never ends on a dairy farm, does it? I love how you guys keep your barns and farm so clean and orderly. I have seen some dairy farms and just farms in general that don't. Those baby calves are so precious. We had some baby calves that we had to bottle feed when I was a teenager on our farm. I always loved that job. But they can get aggressive for that nipple on the bottle. LOL. BTW, I have found a couple other farming channels that glorify The Lord, like you do sometimes in your videos. One is "Fast Ag Montana", and I can't remember the other one right now. I think it was you that put the scripture from Isaiah at the end of your last video. I loved that. You should make that a regular feature. Those cans of Mtn. Dew sure do pop up in the strangest places, don't they? LOL. Anyway, take care and will be watching for a new video when you have time to make one!

For those curious about when he's mentioning "dryin up cows".. The dry period is an important resting period for the dairy cow, where fresh udder tissue is formed in readiness for the lactation, and it provides an important opportunity to rid the udder of many potential pathogens that can cause mastitis.
I assume this is why they're doing it, to keep the cows healthy.

I'm unfamiliar with dairy cattle but I know with beef cattle generally when we see slot of pinkeye it's due to a high nitrates issue within our feed I recommend testing your feed ingredients to find out which one may be higher in nitrates and this problem can usually be resolved by a small change in forage harvesting timing and practices I also recommend increasing your cattles salt intake through the feed source we use Redmond brand salt because it has more nutrients naturally within it than regular feed store salt. Hope this helps good luck!

Pink eye. We use dry cow therapy in eyes. Only have to do it once. Spray some virus/disinfectant mix on favorite rubbing points around the pens over the danger period ( mid summer) i think it attacks the eye if they get slight injuries to the eye surface (dust irritation) .that then allows the bacteria to take hold.

I didn't realise the process of fermentation was required to produce carbonated high fructose lemon lime flavoured corn syrup!?! Hahaha! That's a new one on me!
Did you ever just use straight salt in the cows eyes?
I doubted my father when he told me to do that for the sheep and cattle with pink eye. But it works!
If you know the exact cause of the pink eye the correct antibiotic will work but maybe try salt if recurring cases happen?! I used boiled water to make salt solution and cooled it then squirted the eyes liberally.
    Psst. Also almost free!
Thank you again for the sweet summer tour!
