  • In this episode, BFBS Creative fly to Central America to find out why Marne Company from Sandhurst are in Belize and what lessons are being taught to Belizean officer cadets.
    The 25 cadets are selected from the Belizean Defence Force (BDF), Belizean Police and Belizean Coast Guard. During their 5 week training, they learn about leadership, and how to survive and operate in the harsh jungle environment. Ultimately, the cadets are training to gain a commission as officers in their respective service.
    The lessons taught here by Sandhurst go beyond just leadership. The officer cadets show us how their mindsets have changed and welcome gender equality into their military structure and society.

    As a former BDF Officer who served alongside many Sandhurst graduates (I graduated from the RAF College Cranwell), I must say that it makes me extremely proud to see how far the Force has come in the years since I departed. It gave me goosebumps watching the video, and that does not happen often. Shoulder to Shoulder!!!

    I'm a Canadian Army vet who have served on both sides of the ranks and now a university administrator. I know how difficult it is for a top training or education establishment to run an overseas program while maintaining quality when your candidates can't travel to your home institution to live and breathe the proper traditions, to absorb and internalize the culture, and to enjoy the benefit of adequate staff and proper facilities. I wish both the training staff and the O/Cdts all the very best. As for the O/Cdts, know how lucky you are to be able to train under the wings of Sandhurst staff.

    BATSUB was recently staffed by the Brits like before. They had left and the regional commander flew in and he decided to bring them back. I was a club member at BATSUB when they only had 6 Brits on site, circa 2012. SEAL teams and SWCC boat teams are housed there too, for jungle training. Greetings to Sgt Major Cámara BDF (Retired) ⚓🇸🇻

    Please don’t make our army woke and push to put women or men in rolls. The standards are the standards let’s not lower them

    • @TROPtastic
      @TROPtastic 2 года назад +7

      It's *roles, first of all (unless you're talking about baking?). Secondly, no one is talking about lowering standards. Professional, intelligent militaries do not arbitrarily ban 50% of their recruiting base from positions just because they are a different gender, but make sure anyone can sign up for a position if they meet the requirements.

    • @parallel-knight
      @parallel-knight 2 года назад

      @@TROPtastic ahah you’re right I meant roles. In the US they started making it easier to get through just to hit higher quoters

    • @Grogritark
      @Grogritark 2 года назад +4

      I'd say the army has it absolutely spot on, males and females both have to pass the same standards regardless of gender, unlike the other two services where males have to score much higher than females.

    • @parallel-knight
      @parallel-knight 2 года назад

      @@Grogritark I just don’t get why having different standards for male and female makes sense? Like the standards are there so that let’s say there’s someone who needs dragging out of an area. Their weight will be that of a man and then with half or another small man on top of that with kit. So if the female standards are lowered it’s just making things more dangerous for everyone involved. The female is more likely to get hurt the longer she takes to pull out the injured person. The person who is injured will loose precious seconds whilst being stuck on the ground for longer.
