Looking for a List of all my Rums, Spiced Rums, Flavoured Rums, Syrups, Liqueurs & Bitters?! Well, they're all listed out here; www.stevethebarman.com/post/my-rum-collection 🍹 And if you're looking to chat to other Rum Lovers, we'd LOVE you to join us in my Discord Community stblive.uk/discord
New to your channel, loving the videos and recently purchased two swallows salted caramel and citrus rum based on your review. Absolutely amazing and possibly now my favourite overtaking red leg. Looking forward to buying a bottle of chairman’s reserve next. Have you ever done a review of el dorado 12 year old out of interest? Tried this in a bar and loved it
hey Darren! Welcome and thank you. Ummm, no, I haven't done an out and out review of ED12. It does get a brief mention in this Thursdays Video. If you want my opinion, I LOVE IT! Really easy Drinking Rum. Not too much complexity to it, unlike the others i mention on Thursday... But i think for any Rum Fan, it's a must have in your collection. Just be aware, that obvs it'll be very different to Spiced Rums, no where near as sweet, but I'm sure you get that. But if there's any doubt, Tomorrows video may be an eye opener!
Steve, My favorite (so far) spiced rum is the Chairman's reserve spiced rum. Great in rum and cokes and good for sipping; pairs well with a good cigar (Greycliff 1666 or Casa Magna Oscuro). I need to try to find the Pussers gunpowder proof and Two Swallows rums; they both sound fantastic. Thanks for the excellent reviews.
Thanks for sharing and watching. If you love Chairmans, you'll be on the same palate wavelength to me. You'll love Pussers Spiced and two Swallows. Totally different tastes, but all equally awesome!
Sorry, new to the channel here and I did a quick scroll through your videos (definitely not thorough) but didn't see a mention of Zacapa 23 year rum, and would like to know your opinion of the rum, if you have experienced it! If you haven't, I strongly recommend it. It is decadent
Welcome. No not mentioned RZ23. Very funny Rum that. I mean it is good. Very expensive. But Solera based and VERY sweet. And for me, if want something that Sweet, I go Spiced Rum. When I go to Proper Rum, I want proper Rum characteristics from barrel aging etc which you just don’t get from a Solera Rum. For me personally, I this kinda category, I’d go Plantation XO or maybe even Diplomatico. But again these are Sweet. For an out and out sipping experience, I love Flor De Cana 12 or Pussers 15yo. Very little to no sugar is added to them. Hope that helps 👍👍
interesting, couldn't put pussers high cos my dad won't touch their spiced, surprised to see both belgrove's in not tried the fig one, but i have to drink my hazelnut one in cocktails as i'm not a fan neat, great pina coldas though
Thats the gulf in quality though. All my top 15 (with probably the only exception of Rumbullion, cos we don't know the provenance of that) are real proper decent Rums in their own rights, before they're spiced up. So the Belgrove and the Two Swallows/Grenades are essentially DDL (El Dorado) Rums. Chairmans Reserve Spiced is just Chairmans Reserve thats naturally Spiced. Pussers Gunpowder Proof Spiced, is just the Pussers Gunpowder Proof Rum. As i get older now, my palate gets less sweet, and really appreciate the quality and craft that goes into REALLY Good spiced Rums.
I have not seen Botran for years. Not even convinced its a UK product... Okay, so just looked. I can get a 12yo in the UK...and a White. But it's not a proper UK Product. Maybe leftovers from an old listing.
Some beauties there and a few I've never tried, Cut to the spice Chairmans reserve Rebellion Old J spiced Black magic DMF spiced And red leg Bumbu and pirates grog bit overpriced My faves in no order Looking forward to trying Barti Havana club spiced And rumbullion
Biggest Global Rums Sales category by a mile. That’s why. Makes up nearly 50% of all Rum sold. Only 10% is Premium Aged Sipping Rum. But my whole point is, while it’s not my Favvy, it’s many peoples entry points. So get people at Spiced, take them on a journey of the under £50 Rums. Then they can go off and get more curious about the really good stuff! There’s always a method… 😉
Thats exactly it! Rum geeks hate on Spiced Rum. But the fact is, without Spiced Rum, there is no real Rum market. And Without Spiced Rum, we can't bring new fans to Real Rum, which in turn enables Rum Produces to grow and produce more of the good stuff. Its like Steak... We can't have Fillet, without the Skirt or the Flank! Sure... we can keep breeding Cow's, but without using the whole of the Cow, prices go up, we stop buying, butchers go out of business, Farmers can't afford to keep Cows... No Fillet Steak! It's just simple Business Economics 101 which unfortunately is lost on many a proper Rum fan!
@@StevetheBarmanUK I don't hate on spiced Rum I just don't see the point of buying one over a "proper" Rum. Also I think that the Rum industry would survive without spiced Rum, it would just produce in much lover volume and rely on the geeks similar to scotch, but a notch down
Nah, not now. Rum wouldn’t survive without Spiced. I mean that will never have to happen anyway. But you losing sight of the bigger picture. These days, Distilleries can’t survive without Volumes. You have to realise, let’s take Clarendon in Jamaica for example. Yeah they produce some awesome single cask stuff. But without the sheer volume of their generic 3yo Rum being sold to the likes of E&A Schear in Holland, which then gets bought and used in soooo many Spiced, Blended and other Rum products around the world, Clarendon simply doesn’t have the cash flow to produce more of their own stuff. And that’s just singling out one distillery. Now times that by god knows how many… the vast majority of a Distillery’s income, is through selling off Barrels to other Brands. That’s the big picture…. Again. I come back to it. It’s simple Biz Economics. Own Branded Rum is just a tiny percentage of a Distilleries overall income!

Steve have you not tryed or have twin fin spiced rum or there other rums there some of the best I have come across
My best bud is from St Lucia and always brings me some Chairmans back to the States! Absolutely love it! Such a good Spiced Rum!

Love this video! Cut to the spice my favourite
Another terrific video, Steve
Have you ever tried Foursquare spiced rum, if so what is your take on it?
Not really. I tried one a few years back…but no real recollections. My only Foursquare runs at the moment at the Doorlys. The Doorlys 12 is superb!!!

Lovely Rums Steve!, I personaly love Redleg Spiced
Agree, red leg rocks in all its different flavour options. Personally I'd drop Bayou or Cut to the spice from the list to get red leg in.

Ps. There is actually a “proper rum” version of this Spiced Rum video dropping really soon. Probs next week now.
Would have been good to mention the price points for each

🥃🍹 greate rum's love all your colection rum respect
What's your take on Botran Cobre? The 20yo version. I think it deserves a spot on the list. 🤔

Some beauties there and a few I've never tried,
Cut to the spice
Chairmans reserve
Rebellion
Old J spiced
Black magic
DMF spiced
And red leg
Bumbu and pirates grog bit overpriced
My faves in no order
Looking forward to trying
Barti
Havana club spiced
And rumbullion
Good list there. But MANY awesome ones missing!!
Have you reviewed bullion rum?
No, they were going to send me a bottle of the Spiced Rum (cos it is Spiced and not normal Rum), but they never did. So still yet to try it.
@@StevetheBarmanUK oh that’s annoying. Iv not seen any RUclips reviews on. Just not the rum club on fb about people saying how nice is it
mate its baffling how you're even on top of the spiced rum game, i really couldn't be bothered to even get into that category

And the 75 notable mentions are.. 😅😉
Any of the bullion rums beat these hands down. I'd say bullion java banana wins.
After trying chairman's reserve I think it's completely overrated,
Inspired me to buy some two swallows (£20 Sainsbury's atm!) Had half a bottle tonight at the in laws with coke. Lovely!
It's lovely isn't it!!!!
👍
