  • The church of All Saint's in Shipdham holds a ring of six bells. The treble, 2nd and 4th were cast in 1756 by Joseph Mallows. The 3rd and 5th cast in 1616 by John Draper and the tenor being the youngest bell, having been cast in 1868 by John Warner & Sons. The bells last had an overhaul in 1923 by John Taylor & Co, at which time they were hung in a new cast iron frame by John Taylor & Co. The majority of the fittings are, therefore, 101 years old and still going strong. The Bells are rung from the ground floor and are very easy to ring and strike. There is a thriving local band too, which is good to see.
For over 70 years Peter Woodcock was a ringer and captain at this tower, until his passing on 12th February 2024.
Recorded during our Spring tour of Norfolk in 2024.

Speaking of Joseph mallows bells, Brooke actually contain the heaviest collection of Joseph mallow bells apart from the 4 which was cast we believe in 1478 and the 2 in 1705 and then the treble, third, Fifth and tenor cast in 1758 by Joseph mallows
