    I rented this car in japan.
    Solid 10/10 value
    Has a gigantic inner space, 3 cup holders, extra storage on the top of the glove box , just ummmmmmhhhhaaa a perfect economic well thought out designed car.

    I drive a 2nd generation and I did a test on this car, the 3rd row footspace is greatly reduced to allow more bootspace. Try to compare against the 2nd generation and you will notice the difference. The 3rd row is no longer for adults in this model.

    The earlier Sientas had a 60/40 front row seating arrangement, which completed the package.

    These would make SO much more sense in Europe than the overpriced, overweight SUVs which are so common as to be like vermin.
    Choice has been narrowed down to SUVs or saloons, with the occasional hatchback thrown in by the French and Germans for nostalgia but at prices far in excess of a fair profit margin over what they cost to make.
    Given that the UK and Ireland use rt hand drive the same as Japan, Oceania and parts of the far east, Toyota could have a huge market here.
    The Sienta is an MPV and does so many different jobs that in a 2 car family it would be the most used -- especially with the avoidance of silly slitty windows like on most cars. The 2 car family's second car could be something faster and more polluting to be used occasionally like a 'style statement' for those with such a mentality.
    The key point about this car and its antecedent Yaris Verso automatic is that UTILITY IS ITS OWN STYLE.

    Literally cringed when the comparison is drawn between this and the S8.. it’s a world of difference and shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence, what’s even more amazing is trying to imply that the comfort and smoothness is a level above the S8 😂

    I had the 2nd generation Sienta for less than a year and decided I have enough of it and changed to an Outlander and have stick to it for the last 5 yrs. Why did I say enough is enough even though I lost almost $20k for the change.
    1. The car looks very sulky from the front.
    2. The 1.5L engine was just way too under powered a family of 5 pax. It has got this draggy and sluggish under power noise when you accelerate
    3. The seat belt design for the second row passenger just doesn’t make much sense.
    But I do agree there are some good benefits with this car. Fuel economy was very good but maybe this also explained for the under power performance. I am a tall person and the car gave a very good head room and leg room comfort to all except of course the last row passengers.
    And now at a price $150k , I don’t see any motivation to even reconsider. Till now I still don’t quite understand why I bought it at first but I have to say that the guy who sold me the car was a very good sales professional. My two cents. Cheers. 😊

    Wait until the existing COE down to the level of five years ago then it will be like hot curry puff! Why the roof centre air blower was not available as in Japan version? Not approved by LTA or to safe cost? why 2nd gen Sienta which assembled in Indonesia have centre air blower fixed as standard? Well, only the local authorized dealer knows the answer.

    150k? Isn't that the price of a Totota Alphard?

    • @sgcarmartreviews
      @sgcarmartreviews  16 дней назад

      The high price of cars in Singapore, like the Toyota Alphard, is largely due to the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) system, which requires bidding for the right to own a car, and several taxes, including the Additional Registration Fee (ARF) and Goods and Services Tax (GST). These factors combined significantly increase the cost compared to other countries.

    Too a boxy design and the rear seat is flimsy for comfort the reason it can be tucked into create that flat space. Still, a bit under power compare to the Honda Freed. You can feel it dragging if you carry a full passenger inside. The best advantage is of course fuel consumption. Will buy? Nah I won't buy it.

    • @AloysiusTSY
      @AloysiusTSY Год назад +11

      It’s a mini-mpv. This is not a mini-bus. If you want space for a family of 6 with luggages, get a mid/large-size mpv like the readily available Noah/Voxy/Alphard/Vellfire with boot space to spare. There’s a reason why Toyota created different segments of MPVs to suit different lifestyle needs.
      Understand the market proposition of such cars. It’s not specially designed for the long-haul road trip up the malaysia peninsula NSH. It’s meant for the errand-running dad/mum running about for short/medium trips around town.

    The Sienta is not worth it for $150K. There is a slight improvement regarding about the features as compared to 2nd gen. But as again, for the price you pay, the features are still pretty basic. It's one of the worst cars I've ever driven. In the driver's seat, it's not very comfortable. The car is under powered. With just 4 passengers, the car will struggle even on a slight incline. Pick up from stand still will also struggle. What I hate about the car is the suspension. It's very soft, it's a rock and roll ride. Whenever it goes over a hump, there is a high chance of the under carriage hitting the ground. Fuel efficiency is disappointing for a hybrid. I'm a conservative driver on the accelerator. The best I ever squeezed out from the car is a meagre 17-18km per litre. Even a Prius could get 23-24km per litre.
