- Here's the thing, while most people go towards SUVs the minivan will always be the practical choice. It's more spacious and can carry more people in comfort.

Smart people own minivans and not fight with the space in an SUV to get things to fit. I used to be that dumbass. At 36, father of a 4 year old and 7 month old, I dived in. Was repeatedly told I was too young. Now, I cannot believe I've been living without one for this long. They are the most practical tool for your family. Especially with small kids that use car seats.
Couldn’t agree more!
Yes sir!! I have 3 sienna
As someone w/ a kids and dogs, I also love minivans. Still don't understand the hate - the room is serious amazing.
@@mm345-0 some people care about perception a bit too much 😅
Maybe people want better performance or off road capabilities? Minivans are great for a purpose but let’s not pretend everyone with young kids need to buy one. Let people buy what fits their own needs!
Unless you are going to off-road non-improved roads, of which less than 1% of SUV drivers ever will, or you’re going to tow something heavier than 6500 Lbs, of which very few will, the Sienna is the single most practical, fun, comfortable, and reliable vehicle on planet earth. It’s the only vehicle that has enough cargo space for a double pallet to fit in the back … it has the cargo space of an Econoline. It’s so wildly overlooked by everyone without kids, it’s crazy! Cyclists can just roll their bike in the back, shut the door, and drive away - no drama, no locks, no theft! It’s the greatest vehicle ever made.
A friend of mine actually put a Honda Grom in the back! Most practical vehicle ever.
Too big for urban cities. Can't find parking.
@@efonwang that’s why I kinda miss the Mazda 5. Perfect city minivan.
@@JimmyMak still exist in Asian countries. In fact, Asian countries have a Mazda 5 equivalent from every car brand. Like Toyota sienta, VW Touran. They called mini MPVs.
@@efonwang oh I’m well aware, it’s just the North American market demands bigger vehicles so we don’t get them.
Agreed. My wife lives her 2023 Sienna. Best car hauler, grocery getter and road trip vehicle.
We have had two Sienna Vans since 1998! We went into dealership to buy a 2024. We were told that we had to order it, put deposit, wait weeks and pay a mark-up of at least $5,000 to the dealership. Lowest trim was over $50,000. We walked out and for the first time in almost thirty years, we started looking at non-Toyota cars. We still love the Sienna but will not pay mark-ups.
Exactly why we didn't get a sienna, went with an Odyssey instead
F’n A! Good for you for saying “No, I’m not a sucker!” Dealers can suck it!
Same here! Owned 7 Toyotas and Lexuses over the last 20 years. But the dealers are too greedy today. We went with a KIA Carnival. Its a great car!
If more people think like this. It will drive prices down but unfortunately, most people do longer loans 😢. They will keep increasing prices
My last 3 cars were a Ford Explorer (9 yrs), Chevy Trailblazer (10yrs) and GMC Terrain (12yrs)… all SUV’s.
Got the 2024 Sienna Limited (only had to wait 6 weeks from request to purchase… live in central NC) for the driver’s seat. Went to 13 dealerships & Sienna was only non-truck that had a flat enough seat… majority of 2024’s have wider consoles and thigh bolsters take up too much space. Those aggravated my sciatica… I could tell in seconds if the seat would work or not.
Never saw myself at this stage of life in a minivan but w/ the Limited my grown kids are calling it our family Party Van (love the ‘recliner’ middle seats!) Purchased car mat that protects back row seats which are now always kept down… I love the spaciousness of the back, the doors which open with a kick, sitting tall (knees & hips at close to 90 degree bend) and high enough to see the road but low enough that I don’t have to climb up into the vehicle.
Have had it almost a month. Took a trip on the last holiday so we’ve done 500+ miles, got 33mpg, and love the way it drives.
I wish I’d gotten one years ago!
Life changing! It really sounds like you love it!
We all love it!
Just a PSA because I know very few read the manual, but you should know that your aren't supposed to use the recline and ottoman when the car is in motion. Apparently, it affects the way the seat belt sits and you can mess yourself up if you actual get in an accident in that position. Kind of BS that it's designed this way. They know people expect to use it in motion and they just put a blurb in the manual.
I own both, Sienna and Highlander. We have two kids, and for the family like ours Sienna is just soo much better. When we go to a cottage we don't have to choose what we can take, we take everything we want. In Hilghlander we can't even fit half of what Sienna holds. The only reason why we have a Highlander as a second car and not thomething like RAV4 is because we have 4,000lb RV trailer that I have to tow. On a comfort level I find Sienna and Highlander are very similar, but you get more headroom in Sienna and good third row.
I have an 04 model and still love it.
You rarely see a minivan owner unhappy of their purchase. Specially Sienna owners, those are the most satisfied and they never go back. Some say a minivan is not the car you want but the car you need and I can’t agree more.
I’ve had a 2004, 2008, and now 2018 Sienna. Was embarrassed when I first got it for about a week, but I fell in love with it after that
2008 AWD Sienna owner here 266 horses besides the obvious practical uses of this vehicle I've surprised many of drivers on the road with the speed and pick up performance it has. The underestimating of minivans are normally a great deterrent in purchasing. If Toyota beefed up the horse power instead of lowering it the attraction to purchase would increase loosing the soccer mom stigma.
Dad of 2. Can't wait to get a minivan.
I can say with complete confidence that I would pick the Sienna (particularly the XSE trim) over most vehicles. I'm single with no kids (that I'm aware of) and the Sienna would fit my needs almost perfectly; roomy, efficient, attractive, practical. I mean, what more could you ask for in a vehicle?
My dad is old and heath problems catching up, and harder to get around after having to cut a couple toes off. It's getting harder for him to get up into our trucks and car but when our uber came in one of these to pick us up at the airport he was impressed with how easy it was for him to get inside and the room he had, and asking the driver what kind of gas mileage it had. I think it's time to sell off most of our trucks and cars and convince them to buy one of these. My mom said it was big and she dosnt like driving big cars but honestly after looking into this van alittle bit this is what we are going to need for him.
Love the Sienna! Well presented video!
This van does not struggle. I've never had an issue.
I love Van. The most practical vehicle hands down. Toyota Sienna hybrid and AWD I'm coming for you baby after my Dodge GC
Some people get it and many people don’t.
Lol I got a dodge grand caravan too. Awesome, dependable car. But these AWD 30+MPG Siennas are so tempting. Much sportier look too
Good review. Very informative and helpful. Thank you.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hi Jimmy , I am in Nigeria I enjoy watching your videos
. what is the cost of this trim and the limited or top trim?
I don’t care how other people look at me or what car I drive and minivan is actually a very nice transportation vehicle for most people carrying people and cargos. City driving, like your review, is definitely a plus for a hybrid. I have never owned a hybrid but I read and know city MPG for Toyota is extremely good. Thank you for your review.❤
Thanks for watching and commenting!
30 MPG with aggressive driving? In a minivan that holds 7 in comfort? YES! I will take that!
I got one in 2013 still have it ive carried hundreds of drywall, lumber doors trim bathtubs , camping trips, family of bicycles with people kids with their friends slept fully outstreched on road trips while the wife is driving with kids and the list goes on i would absolutely upgrade to the 2024 model but the 2nd row is not removable. Ill drive the 2012 model till the next redesign that has removable 2nd row and if it doesnt i will drive this 2013 till when my last kid finish college.
Real car lovers like wagons and vans. They are just soo practical.
Awesome Review - I’ve seen hundreds. I love my '24 XSE, my fourth Sienna. I may have considered a Grand Highlander - But only in Hybrid if it wasn’t still smaller and cost way more than my Fabulous Sienna.
definitely would love a Sienna and I'm on the long waiting list for one, hopefully I get called for the 2025 model. but I may not take it as the Forester I have is enough space for my family of 4 but the Sienna would be very nice to have, still mulling it over while I wait for one to become available. For me it's important what other car I pair it with, if I keep the Forester which I can pay off sooner I'm getting a BRZ for myself while if I get the Sienna I'll pair it with either a Supra or GR86. Very important decisions. 😏
It actually has an HD Radio (Digital AM and FM). If you fold the 3rd row, would you be able to adjust the 2nd row all the way flat for sleep?
black headliner and grey everything. interesting! orange stitching is a little too much for me
As a 2022 highlander hybrid owner this sienna take my attention 😏 maybe wait until 2025 is coming to get it!
That's what I'm looking for also. Currently models look ugly in the rear.
I have a Crossover SUV and a Sienna Mini-Van. The Mini-Van is the most practical when you need to carry a lot of stuff. The sliding doors are also better in my opinion.
I’m 6,1 235lbs and I sit in it with PLENTY room. Headspace is crazy
It’s too early here and I read that as you’re 61235lbs 😅 but yea, enough room for everyone!
@@JimmyMak 😂😂😂😭🤣. I know you thought of 1000lb sisters 🥴
@@13bulletclip oh definitely hahaha
Nice. I go new 22 sienna limited.
The most user-friendly vehicle I've owned in more than 50 years. Comfortable, reliable, and safe.
never succumbed to the peer pressure then or now. I would buy this van in a heartbeat. Alas at this life stage going w the RAV4 prime 😛
Guess the peer pressure got to ya 😅
Used to own a RAV4 until i had my second kid 7 months ago. That’s when things turned and I decided to change my vehicle.. explored options and decided to proceed to buy a minivan. My friends called me “uncle” at the age of 35 but who cares? Most practical vehicle for family especially with small kids
there is only 1 usb jack that communicates to the console??? does this console support blue tooth?
Yes, it has Bluetooth as well.
My wife has a new 2024 Sienna XSE AWD with premium package. Her first Sienna was a 2021 XSE AWD. We love them both.
I could not use a Sienna for my drywall business. When I slide the middle seats all the way forward I cannot get tools and buckets in through the side doors like I could with Stow and Go. So I bought a Grand Highlander Limited Hybrid.
The Sienna is great for the grandkids and for folding our ebikes and putting the bikes where the third row is folded flat. The Grand can accommodate longer items such as ladders and stretch planks. Thankful to have one of each. Just have to figure out how to pay for them !
What's the difference with the 2024 xse sienna and 2021 that made her upgrade
"Have to figure out how to pay for them" 😂
Any minivan is better than big old ugly-looking SUVs.
poor guy.
@@Mckenzie28007shut up bot
I wish we had this in Europe.
Very sweet…
I don't want another sedan or suv, it's the only thing I want to drive til I die...the hybrid part makes it all the better...I wanted A Pacifica but they have problems...I'd love the stow-n-go...but oh well.
Ive had a van for about 10 years. Never going to anything else. Most useful vehicle for everything except hauling dirt. Thinking about a sienna or the new vw id buzz when it comes out
Hauling dirt should be easy with a tarp but payload may become an issue.
Also loving the ID buzz I’m sure it’s going to be overpriced but I don’t really mind.
Every feature is fine.
Acceleration and minivan don't go hand-in-hand. A larger, more powerful powertrain is a nice to have, but how many times are you actually going to overtake slower vehicles? For 99.999999% of the time, you'll be cruising at 120 KPH, following other cars. It's a fine powertrain that provides exceptional fuel economy. Definitely the best family and roadtrip vehicle. Period!
I overtake vehicles pretty often. Especially if I need to get to school drop off before other parents, it’s a war zone out there. 😅
I grew up with a Plymouth Voyager, and we had that till I was in high school. My mom didn’t want to drive another van, so we got a Highlander, but I suspect if we did get another van we would’ve gotten a Sienna. I personally love minivans because they’re easier for me to get in (I have mild cerebral palsy in my legs), there’s more room, they’re quieter, just a whole bunch of good stuff. I look at some of the vans in Japan (like the Lexus LM) and I wonder how well they’d do here. Appearance isn’t everything, you know?
It’ll be cool to get the LM here. But it’ll be 100k minivan and at that price point there’ll be even less people that would want it. It’s sad, it’s definitely a shrinking market.
My next vehicle after my '09 Mercedes R-320 Bluetec 4MATIC dies. The R-320 is comfy and rides like cloud and is solid as an ox at over 6000lbs. Just hit 200,000km and it runs great.
I grew up in the Philippines, i remember seeing vans being chauffeured driven there. Families with money get Vans not SUVs
I got one coming in…gonna suck when they release the 2025 updated model a month later
Not that bad, if you order a 2025 it won’t come till 2026 anyways 😅
No they need to leave the wired Apple CarPlay so that you can use those carplay dongles that turn your infotainment center into an Android box. It also allows you to watch Netflix on your screen and you still have the ability to use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly
I get confused about how many it seats 7 or 8?
This trim has 7. Two in the first row, two in the second and three in the third. You can also get a bench for the second row in selected trims.
the new sienna is very common where I live as are SUV's
Do you know what is the wait time for a new one? I heard it's about 2 years 😢
I don’t know the exact times but I did hear rumours it’s going to be long.
It depends on the area. We have som many siennas available in the east. Call around and some places will ship your vehicle to you.
I live in Louisiana and just got one in allocation. Initially told eight weeks but then told four weeks
i checking the dealer @ 122 nd ave they have 12 sienna . why nobody buy it.
I would buy this if i dont have to put my names on 3-5 year wait list and beg the dealer to get me one and pay thousands more with add-ons.. still a reality in Canada with Toyota hybrids and sienna has the one of the worst waitlists…
Since we have a RV, we chose the Toyota Highlander for $3,200 under MSRP without haggling so pffft on the Sienna markups!
the problem in Mexico is that you neew wait months in order to have one is crazy
If you want an SUV, get an SUV. But if you want a van, but dont want to get a van because you worry about what people think, then maybe reevaluate yourself.
I have an infant. And currently driving a rav4. Thinking of eventually upgrading to the Grand highlander (after they fix the issue) or the Sienna. We’ll see. Ill get the one with the better deal. Also i hope the Sienna updates the infotainment system/screen.
Do it fast, the truck is here soon
😂😂 I own a 2019 Grom.. I’m sold!!
My wife refuses to drive a minivan. That was 17 years ago, bought her a 08 Lexus RX350. Fast forward to 2024, she refused again, bought her a new Lexus NX350h.
Nx is nice but it feels like it’s half as big as a Sienna.
@@JimmyMak no doubt the NX is small. Though it fits our need as our 2 teenagers are driving already and I also have a 2017 ES350 for longer trips.
@@jml9550 great combo of cars. Never have to worry during road trips.
@@JimmyMak now my son is bitching about his 17YO RX350, he wants my ES. As soon as my daughter hit 17 next year she will get the RX, son will get my ES. My new car will be a 2-3YO CPO Porsche 992 or a 2-3YO LC500h. :)
@@jml9550 I mean you gotta stick with Lexus
It's nice, but it would be a lot better if all the seats were able to fold down, like most modern minivans.
Sadly out of the 4 manufacturers that still make minivans in North America, only one folds all the way down.
Lacking power, the little Prius has 220hp and Sienna has only 240?
Outdated technology, did you see the resolution of the backup camera? It’s a joke!
I will stick with my 2012 Sienna with V6 NA engine.
how about offroading ??
Put some all terrains and a heavy foot would get you to many of places.
Ima XTaxi driver its illegal to sit someone in the trunk area😂😂😂😂
What if I don’t identify as someone 🤔
I'd love to have a Sienna but the price is too breath-taking for me. I guess that my seven year old car will have to do.
Problem is this van has a cvt, if it was a true transmission I would buy it but its not
I have the two and I will tell u the sienna is the elder brother of the Highlander.
Sienna is great. Toyota dealers when so greedy I will not buy another Toyota. They want you to buy a used vehicle promise to trade in than you might get a chance to buy a brand new sienna. This isn't GT3 RS fighting for allotment!
Need the Max hybrid system
Would be amazing, make it a Sienna TRD Pro
You'd lose the fuel efficiency if you did that though.
@@LoneWolfSparty Make no different in the car this big moving through traffic lol... Getting on the freeway you wish you have that MAX hybrid.
Please talk about affordability, waiting time and markup over msrp. There is no sense to pay mini van over marp and unlimited waiting time!!!
wait, how tall are you?
I’m 5’11
@@JimmyMak nice video!
@@desabat thanks!
Awesome minivan, I just prefer odyssey
It's a people hauler, your not drag racing or passing cars or trucks, your suppose to let people pass you. You stay behind trucks, your too slow to drive in front of trucks. Your passenger can get motion sickness, so your not driving fast or to take turn or corners fast. Your passenger also could include infants and to be mothers with babies
What about the poor panoramic camera?
Certainly not the best but for me it’s enough for me to see what’s going on.
At 2024 this van needs major interior updates, I think you sugar coated it too much at multiple points regarding the van.. Toyota is way to behind for this lineup compare to even the Corolla
True utility vehicle is a minivan not suv
you're not 5'11! clearly 5'12 or 5'9
5’ 12” is called 6’.
Cash price I should pay
The top trim is not the limited, it's the platinum. Thank me later
Here in Canada our top trim is Limited. Thanks!
@JimmyMak hey, I guess I'm the one thanking you!
Well if you’re comparing a sienna to a highlighter it’s nt comparing them from apples to oranges. Not the same vehicle.
You’re right, while apples and oranges are different the end result is very similar.
Rented a 2024 Sienna w 13 miles on it. Great on gas, horrible infotainment, road noise was very bad but comfortable. Not for me
00:26 absolutely illegal and dangerous 😂
Only if they’re alive…. Oh wait 😅
I get 6.6 driving normal
Wow that’s pretty good!
Ha,ha! Its really an suv just shaped different, ask Pacifica.😅
Hands down highlander sucks! Its not the same for the grand highlander though, which has 8seats for XLE AWD.
I don’t know why Toyota playing a monopoly on production. ? Isn’t it just loosing customer base ? Whatever reason beholds, they should produce more cars. Avg American can’t afford over msrp price given already raised inflation.
Prices should come down !
Yeah nobody is putting a body kit on a sienna....
It’s actually pretty popular. www.vankulture.com/
My issue with minvans are their safety scores. Shouldn't a family car with children strive to be better?
Looking at NHTSA, the Sienna has the same score as the Highlander. Is there a specific can you were looking at?
Edit: searched up the sienna’s IIHS score and it got a top safety pick.
@JimmyMak it must have been an earlier year. Im noticing the newer models of vans have better safety ratings. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Maybe minis are back on our radar.
@@vincentlopez9944 no worries! Safety is certainly a big concern
Actually the US gravitate towards SUVs because our roads are trash.
It’s better than a highlander? Yeah I don’t know about that.
Mini vans have poor ratings in crash tests. Especially 2nd and 3rd row. Watch the iihs videos on vans. Might be spacious, but safety is poor.Wwhen you put your kids back there, you want the safest option.
Actually most vehicles have bad 2nd and 3rd rows. It’s not something that’s been tested till more recently thus why many manufacturers opt to add side airbags to the 2nd row.
All 4 major van brands got a poor rating overall not just 2nd row. But I get what you mean. We were in the market for a sienna but opted to look for something else after finding out ratings were so poor. It’s a bummer.
Sienna is an iihs top safety pick
Too bad Toyota is barely trying with Plug-Ins
Boo, put the V6 back in it
*an SUV
I have it 2023 same trim... seriously I'm regretting why I buy this. It's a very cheap car compare to my 2015 sienna se. It's so light and noises occurs while driving. It's totally garbage models
Toyota cheaping out on parts where you don't see it
True but if Toyota is doing that, imagine other manufacturers…lot worse than Toyota for sure.
Like where? Making a comment like that but not explaining yourself is suspect.
It's wayyyy too cheap inside for the price we pay
I do agree some parts do feel cheap but because of that they’re generally more durable from everyday wear and tear.
@@JimmyMak it squicks all the time.... But yeah at least it's not shiny black
too small
The Sienna isn't over-styled? It looks like a bar of soap melting on top of an angry catfish.
At least it’s an angry catfish
The grand Highlander is much better
How so? The Sienna is cheaper, more spacious, and even better on fuel. While I do like the Grand Highlander, I’m just curious your reasoning.
@@JimmyMak
Cheaper? Then get Caravan Minivan😝
I tried driving Sienna up hills during Rockies trip. Horrible.
The Grand Highlander will take you places.
The Highlander loses in every category it is put in.
BC it’s not supposed to compete with this, the GHighlander and the Sequoia are comparable.
This man is not tall, but seems to think he understands how tall people think. Also his opinions are purely subjective, I love my Sienna, but as a tall person, I haven’t had any similar experiences as the reviewer and it’s clear he didn’t spend much time on the Sienna.
It’s just a poorly done review.
@@joebronxer1204 Thanks, I am not in the market for a Sienna I am past that stage now. but a Highlander has been on my list for a while, but every review I see on a Highlander it loses to the competition, Toyota mostly likes to keep fun out of its name, so it seems that the Highlander falls right in the middle of mediocrity.
I am tired of Toyota now. I will buy other brand.
