Little tip: part your hair in a zigzag, especially in the back of the head. I also braid my hair to get curls and it really helps to make the hair lay nicer in the back (aka so it doesn’t look like Moses came to part the Red Sea 🤣🤣)
@@adriananabananana3021 I don’t leave the zigzag. I do a side part in the front so I do straighten that area but the back zigzag falls naturally when you take the braids out.
I zigzag the parting down the back, otherwise you can see where it was split while drying. I've got thick hair, so just do two French twists when it's damp in the morning, and leave it for an hour.
@@jlammetje my hair never dries unless it's loose lol if I braided it in a bunny blowout, I know I could leave if for 48 hours and it'd still be damp. It would mildew and grow a new species before it'd dry. I'd probably have to go extra small with sectioning and have multiple strips to ensure it'd dry all around. My hair is bleached and extremely porous because of the bleach. Edit: clarity
@@jlammetje having the windows down in the car on my commute helps. Blasts it with cold air. Also my hair doesn't want to be in the French twist (twist, not braid) so it's more loose and I guess more air gets in. Also I've normally just spritzed dry hair, rather than semi dried wet hair - otherwise, with my very bleached hair, I'd be waiting forever.
My fave DIY is bandanas (or scarves)! I fold them diagonally, then roll them up and tie them together to imitate the curling ribbon. The bonus is that in the morning you just untie them where they're tied together at the top, and then you can slide them out from each end--no unraveling!
@@haileycrowe6101 I believe it shouldnt be too hard. Take a rat-tail comb, or pencil, and instead of dragging it straight down your head (to divide the hair line), you would zigzag it in a "z" design back-and-forth from the crown of the head down to the base of the neck. The hair line with this method will likely be less visible when released, thereby providing a more flawless appearance to the overall look. 😀
I use rolled up silk scarves, to reduce frizz.. I also wrap the hair around or while it's dry and then spray it -- otherwise my hair is still damp in the morning and the curls fall right out. My hair is very straight, so I also use a little mousse in the hair before I wrap, and a soft hold hairspray in the morning after unwrapping.
I have been put up with a broken ankle the past week and in that time I have FALLEN IN LOVE WITH YOUR VIDEOS!!! My life journey is similar - I fell in love with a woman after a long marriage filled with lies, gaslighting, etc. I’m also getting married. I’m so happy for you and SO grateful for your videos, your active inclusion, and also your entire openness and approach to hair. I also have very fine straight hair that is graying and frizzy and I’m trying to figure out my wedding hair. Thank you SO MUCH for all you do!! You’re making a positive difference in people’s lives… and entertaining me while I recover!
I've been following you for so long and I love your hair tutorials! I frequently recommend you to friends, especially those interested in the rice water treatments and shampoo! You are glowing and look amazing, I'm so glad you're thriving ☺️
I will definately be trying this with my thigh high fluffy socks! I think a robe tie is uncomfortable to sleep on but never thought of using those socks I've had for years. 😅
Wow I’m actually amazed by the idea of doing it on dry hair but misting it damp. I feel like that would probably solve the issue i have of my air-dried hair being super flat. I can’t do heatless styles because it just results in limp roots and frizzy ends.
I use the robe belt method and while my hair is still a bit flat it's the only one that doesn't give me frizzy curls in the morning. I also learned to make it work to my liking. You can make the curls tighter or loser depending on how big you grab a section. All I know is it looks good every time.
Gorgeous!!! Would love to see you do these as base curls for future looks!! Also would love to see different curl patterns you can do with the ribbon and on AL!
I'm a straight man (and shy to be a boomer) and you can sell me that braid+ribbon+scrunchies thing is a look - if the dress is kind of sophisticated+heels, I will totally think you're attending a wedding.
Haha! 🙃 I usually get comments like "my husband, bf, etc would make so much fun of me!" So I had that in my mind while I was filming. Celebrating all the boys (and my lovely fiance) hyping up their girl's heatless curls!!
I kind of do a criss cross wrap, wrap front half away from face, wrap back half towards face, crossing them over each other, and it turns out like curling iron curls! I also use the silk ones from heatless hair!
Isn't that the same effect you get from French braiding? Some strands go away from your face and some go towards your face. And on the bottom part she crisscrosses the two remaining strands to achieve the same effect. :)
@@saafiiiraa not entirely. When you’re doing a crisscross wrap your hair section is doing a full rotation before grabbing more hair from the same side of the curler that section started from. This means all of the hair that’s in front of your ribbon should curl in the same direction (usually away from your face, though you can make them go toward your face by wrapping the hair under the curler instead of over) while all of the hair that comes from behind your ribbon curls in the opposite direction. When you braid, you’re getting hair from both sides of the ribbon mixed into each section which means you’re not getting that separation between front and back. This difference may sound subtle, but it produces a different curl/wave pattern. It’s basically the difference in the way your hair looks after it’s been in a rope braid versus a three strand brand. Rope braids produce more spiraling curls while a three strand braid is more wave that curl because weaving one section between two others adds additional bends to the hair than when you’re just twisting around one.
Not me watching this even though this is basically my natural texture 🙈 might do this on my top layers that tend to have a looser curl pattern though! 💛
I'm still in the headband curls stage, it can be compleaty hit and miss whether it looks amazing or really bad, I may have to give this method a try, just so I can do something a little bit different
Thank you for this tutorial! I will definitely try it, but since I can sew (and don’t like spending ”unnecessary” money) I will copy the Bunny blowout design and make on myself. I have very long hair so I think I’m gonna make it a bit longer and probably not as thick. I look forward to trying it! 😊
I somehow missed this video and not only am I so happy to see your tips on using this method but this is the cutest, sweetest video. Thank you for being you 💖
i have a special event coming up tomorrow so yesterday i actually went to your tik tok heatless curls with a bathrobe tutorial/experiment you did with Ana Laura and tried it out for myself, and it went amazing! i washed my hair today and redid the wrap as i watched this video and now im really excited to try french braiding my hair like this with the bathrobe some other time, i love the results you got (: rock on gurl!
I've been using my hubby's long work socks for years to do heatless curls, you can tie the two together at the top with an elastic to hold it together and make it longer..i had never braided them..I'd take pieces and wrap them and it would never be tight enough so I'm so excited to try braiding them!! Thx for the great tips, girly!!! ❤
Similar results could be achieved by using a scarf instead of the socks/robe tie etc. The bigger your scarf, the looser the curles. Also if you don't feel like french braidin, you can always wrap the hair around the scarf from the beginnig. I've been dojng that and it is quite a nice hairstyle. Strait man has lot looked at me funny, he complimented the hair style :-)
I find that it works best on my hair if it’s 90% dry. And it’s really hit or miss. Plus I’m a side sleeper and it’s not always confortable to sleep with. But I’m really intrigued by the bunny blowout.
Oh I hope this works for my most poker of poker straight hair! 30 years of trying... I'll let you know! 🙏 And thank you Kayleigh, you brighten my day 💖
Okay… this is the first time I’ve half comprehended the duck curling method…. And I’ve watched every video you’ve ever mentioned it. Bravo for getting through to me!

Loved this! I have tried heatless curls a few times and I feel like they all just fall out after a few hours. Looking forward to trying some of these tips/tricks.
I'll definitely try this on my wavy hair! I wonder if it would work on damp hair with some gel? I'd love to have a cast to scrunch out. Time for an experiment 😁.
Loved it! You're so sweet Kayley! Always a blast to watch your videos! I generally use a silk or satin scarf to curl my hair overnight if you want to try for yourself. And same here, if the scarf is large or small in diameter (more like a tie), you get different results. But I noticed that the curls are very tight the first 2 days and then it's more of a wave and a really pretty one!
Thank God someone finally came up with something besides a robe tie. I don’t own a fluffy robe tie so I almost sacrificed my husband’s 😳👀(I would have to cut it in half). I can’t wait for my own curling ribbon! 😃 I might have to also try the fuzzy socks or microfiber towels.❤️👍🏻😊
Instead of that braiding, I take the both strands of hair and alternate a full turn around the ribbon with both . Also with bigger/thicker strands of hair. I think the curls get much prettier - and my hair looks perfect immediately after losing the ribbon - no heat or post styling needed. Also I use hair oil in my ends before putting on the ribbon.
I have very long fine hair, I bought this set and I have to say for the first 5 minutes or so I had beautiful curls! However they all fell so quickly, is there any tips you can give to have the curls last longer? Maybe some product to try before you start braiding...? Great video btw thanks Kayley!
I love the hairstyle. I need to try this hairstyle. I need to try it with my black and bright pink fuzzy socks. I would love higher waves because the bottom 1/3 of my hair has loose waves. Do you think the style would look okay on thick hair?

For socks heatless curls, i use 3 socks. 1.gather hair above eyebrows like a ponytail and roll into a sock. 2 divide leftover hair into left and right side. 3. Roll each side into a lower bun onto sock. That way, u can sleep comfortably on ur back all night with socks in ur hair
What top are you wearing when your hair is wet? I love the asymmetrical look! Love you Kayley, been here since the green sheet days and it's only been up!
How do we stop the part from setting in the back of our heads. I only want the curls to set 😂 Every time I try this style I end up having to wear it in a pony or half up half down because my part literally goes from my forehead to the back of my neck and there’s no getting my hair to lay right to hide the part. Loved this video and your curls all turned out so beautifully!
Not me looking up the length of these items to see if i could try this method on my hair and realising they are like a good 10 inches too short... yeet. May have to try a diy sewing version?
Same here! Kitsch has a heatless curling ribbon that is half the price of the one in this video so I bought two from Kitsch and stitched the end of one to the end of the other. Now I have a 68" heatless curling ribbon perfect for super long hair.
I wish I could like this 10 times: people using these products *never* show the back! That's the only part that tends to look bad so that's how I tell if the method actually works good!
Is it important that the material be that fuzzy microfiber? There are many curl ribbon products on Amazon that look like padded wire with synthetic satin cover. Should I try one of the Amazon satin ones or jump to diy socks or towels?
