If you ever decide to grow out your hair again, would you be willing to show us your process of keeping it looking good? I always feel like those in-between lengths always look rough on me.
I've been doing this for years! I usually use a strip of fabric but same process. ❗ADVANCED MODE: use two strips, top half of hair curled away from the face, bottom half on second strip curled forward. Then you have curls in both directions and its less flat in the back! 😀
Sushi Cat do like a half up half down hair style, take the upper part and use one piece of fabric and curl it away from your face. Then take the bottom half or the down part and curl it towards your face. Hope this helps!
I've been using this method of heatless curls almost everyday since I found it. I have made changes with trial and error. What works best for my is starting with completely dry hair. I follow the steps already shown but add some bobby pins here and there to make sure strands don't loosen as I toss and turn in my sleep. I tie the ends in a way that won't bother me as I'm a side sleeper. Also, dry hair will give you a looser curl which is my personal preference and they last on me all day with some hairspray and best of all they don't turn out frizzy!
I think the method can be credited to a RUclipsr called Marcela Tumas, I've seen a lot of people copying her after her video went viral, but very few people crediting her :)
Norwaycat91 this method exists for a very long time 😅 actually, one of the first beauty tutorial I ever watched was showing this technique and it was a 11 yo French youtuber back in 2012 so I don’t think we can find the « creator of this technique »
I would love to see a video about all your “must have hair products” ! Shampoos, conditioners, leave ins, heat protectant, shine enhancing serum, texture sprays, hair spray, etc ❤️ Both high end and drugstore versions of each product - so there’s lots of options price wise as well!
I've tried these curls and literally LOVE them! So low maintenance! I do big fluffy socks since I have long hair so that the curls are bigger, and I form x's in front of then behind the socks rather than doing the spiral method! 🥰
Do the octocurl thingamabob!! Also, I’m so sad Tik Tok takes other people’s creations and gives no credit, like they did with your flat iron curl method! I saw this long ago on a YT channel. Come on, the Tik Tok!
Yeh I remember her. I saw her video three months ago.. and then she uploaded another one to end up with a heatless blowout.. Her name is Marcela Tumas.
Kelsi Jarvis Yes! This was a specific technique that I had never seen before Kayley did it years ago. Now it’s Tik Tok famous. She talked about it a few videos ago.
I found a version on RUclips that is pretty much the same except you have 80% dry hair and you make Princes Leia buns with the ends with scrunchies after tying the hair off. If you're down with only sleeping on your back it works, I lasted about 3 hours.
I’m a curly girl, and I’ve done this for years. It’s the only way that my hair is able to keep a curl that’s not my natural! I use thick socks instead, which gives it more of a big curl. A big tip to get this to work for curly hair is to blow dry it straight on low heat
Thank you Queen Kayley for the mention! Beyond grateful! We have a long hair version now too... and satin... and short hair version. Here to serve... heatless hair for the win. PS - If anyone finds our products out of stock check back because we have another shipment on the way. Corona affecting everything, but staying positive! Love to your community! xoxo
I actually used to do a very similar style when my hair was a tad bit shorter than Kayley's. I basically did the rope braid without the bath robe tie, and my hair was short enough to just pin the ends into a crown style. This was usually my go-to when I washed my hair in the morning and couldn't be bothered to blow dry it (or wash it and put it in rollers the night before). As I love vintage style hair, the tighter curls would be very similar to what I get with rollers! 💖😘🌼
I do this too! My hair is about collarbone length so I have a couple of silly little rope braided pigtails, but I just wear them to bed or around my house so it doesn't matter too much. Reading that someone else does it this way too makes me feel very legit haha!
The best way ever to make your curl look so hot is to flip your head upside down then right side up. That is maybe shake the roots a little while your down there. Then you can put whatever hairspray or tame any frizz if needed.
All I can honestly say, is the both of you young beautiful ladies totally knew how 2 rock this curly hair style! Amazing! 😍 I truly loved the way both of yall's hair curled👍😍💯 thanks for sharing, totally will try this on myself... God bless..
For the octocurl make sure you try it with the top layer of hair *over* the microfiber strips (or just put the whole thing underneath your hair instead of over it). This prevents the dents that can appear on the top layer and makes it look so much better :)
I‘ve always done something similar with just rope braids 🤔 but because I wear a side part and my hair is on the shorter side but very thick, I divide my hair into three sections: one mohawk section down the middle and then the sides. Also, if you do it that way, you don‘t get those upward curls in the back like Kayley had because she braided it in a halo around her head. 🤷♀️
@@sarahtuttle6429 i do it on damp hair! I find that it doesn‘t dry completely when my hair is too wet. And it doesn‘t curl as much on dry hair (though it still works). :)
Ive figured it out for short hair! Use the same method but using 2 long socks, and split your hair into 4. Then use 1 sock for the back two sections, wrapping towards the face, and 1 sock for the front two, wrapping away from the face. You get your whole head curled, literally the best heatless curls method ive found!!!
Love this ✨ I tried out the dressing gown trick over on my channel, I dried my hair like 90% and wrapped hair fairly loosely around the tie, and it came out like a lovely bouncy blow dry! It lasted me 3 days! And my hair felt so good 😍
I would love seeing you try it again on your short hair Kayley! As someone with short hair who doesn’t have the patience to curl it with hot tools it would be a lifesaver!
This looks amazing! I’ve tried so many heatless curl methods and most of them don’t work as my hair is wavy naturally so holds the curl too well and comes out crazy kinky. I usually braid it with an extension (to curl the ends) every night which works the best, but definitely going to try this!
I’ve been doing this first technique for years. I use a stretchy headband (like the full loop ones), put it on my head like a crown, then wrap. The key is to wrap it ‘flat’ & I also pulling it a bit loose for more wave than tight curl. Always works 👍🏼😊
I have short hair, and I make beautifull full heatless curls by wrapping my hair like an infinity loop around a pocket hanky. I use about 15 pocket hanky's. You can use socks too, and wrap it infinity style. Never had a bad curl day with them
I love when you find these types of "Tiktok-trends" with things you've been doing for years. I have short-medium lenght hair and usually use a broad headband to wrap the curls around. No need for tying it up in the back, or long pieces dangling down. I usually also twist the hair (as you do with a rope twist braid) just to make the curls a bit neater, I feel like that helps a lot with the smoothness (but makes them tighter so if you're going for a loose curl, that's not a good hack)
I have been waiting for you to try this out!! Couldn’t find a tik tok with enough of an explanation and thought to myself, Kaley needs to do this!! Can’t wait to try this!
You can get looser curls if you wrap your hair around the rope with more space between each wrap if that makes sense. Same as a curling iron if you wrap them too close you get tighter curls!! 🥰 i have short hair & that’s what i did !
In the UK we have a company called the Aurora band, this is basically the same but it’s a velcro foam headband and has been about for years! Not sure if they’re available in the US but they really are great!
Those turned out amazing! I'm super excited to try the doubled up version. I have naturally curly hair but love the look of loose curls and to achieve that I normally have to straighten and then curl my hair so I really hope this works as it would save so much time :) Also I would love more heatless tutorials right now because as you said this is the perfect time to try them out.
You could get the same results with just a french rope braid. No weird ends. Have to say since I discovered Victorian curls I’m a convert to that method. This is kind of an easy spin on that.
Gonna try this I have very long and very thick hair I've done sick curls and they turned out great, I got the wrong length wave formers so haven't tried them till I get the right length or more of the ones I have and make them work so gonna give this a go.. thanks ladies stay happy and healthy much 🧡 to you both..
YES i have been WAITING for you to try this ever since the original tutorial (in portuguese) blew up on youtube! (in fact, when the video trying desi's faux natural curls came out i thought it was gonna be this technique 😂)
Cant wait to try this on my long ass hair! I used to use a headband to curl my hair without heat but since it got so long I cant do that method anymore.
Just a tip: my hair NEVER keeps curls, it gets flat in 10 minutes. But with this method, I use Ouai wave spray on dry hair, roll it in when the hair is a little damp from wave spray, and sit in it for an hour or two, and the curls last for days! This doesn't work without the wave spray tho, don't know why
My hair is the same way! It will NOT hold a heat curl! I usually do mine with damp hair and hairspray in the morning and leave it all day. My curls last until whenever I decide to wash it. I think the longest has been 5 days. At that point my scalp is usually getting quite itchy from the dry shampoo
Ive watch some of these as well but your video was my all time fav! It was so fun and enjoyable to watch. You are both gorgeous. Thanks for making me laugh a bit.. I needed it. God bless you!
I'd love to see more heatless curling methods for short hair! My hair is just slightly longer than yours and it always ends up coming out tightly curled with these kinds of overnight curling methods. Very cute for if I'm wearing my hair up, but I'd like to curl it and wear it down, too. I've been doing scarf curls recently and love them for updos.
Oh I so need to try this! I have naturally flat AF hair and I love it curly but I hate going through all the effort.. this might be something I would do...
Gave the t-shirt Halo a try, as the robe rope would not be suitable for my naturally thicker frizzy wavy hair. First try is always rough, but got some nice curls from it! Had to use a heat tool to fix my scalp since I ended up with several cow licks though. Definitely plan to try again!
"When heatless curls go bad, they go BAD." TRUTH!!
Sadie McC I have witnessed this first hand with straws
Lexi Fatum you poor soul
It only works for me in braids because other ways make my hair SUPER frizzy and a little curly.
@@lexifatum9804 😂🤣 Me too!! It's so bad.😮

Same! That would be an interesting video/series!
Even if she likes her length now, I bet she still has the expertise to advise us.

I've been doing this for years! I usually use a strip of fabric but same process.
❗ADVANCED MODE: use two strips, top half of hair curled away from the face, bottom half on second strip curled forward. Then you have curls in both directions and its less flat in the back! 😀
Sounds epic, but I'm having trouble visualizing it?

@@normalman7846 But where do the strips go? Do both go over the top of the head?

Kayley, that sweater looks soooo good on you! Love it.

Oh wow, I'm excited to try this! My curls never stay in my hair when I do it with heat so maybe the heatless method is the way to go!

A tip is, esp. if you have long hair: flip your head upside down and shake it out. Easier to separate curls and gives volume maybe 😉
